Despite not living nearby or being able to use the club, they required 60 days' notice and continued charging full dues for two additional months. No flexibility. No prorating. No understanding. When I spoke with Rachel King about it, she was dismissive and simply repeated the policy over and over instead of addressing the issue or showing any willingness to work with me. It felt intentionally rigid and callous. If you're considering joining, just be aware that leaving may not be handled with the same hospitality they show when signing you up.

I decided to make a visit for 2025 to see what it's all about. Let me run down some details... For a 250 level WTA tennis tournament, the player field was full of well known contenders. This year they had Jessica Pegula (consistent Top 10 player), Petra Kvitova (2x Wimbledon champion), Ajla Tomljanovic (famously defeated Serena Williams), Peyton Sterns (hometown hero from the University of Texas) and other top 100 players competing. I attended for 4 days including 2 days of qualifying rounds and the first 2 days of the main draw. Unfortunately the first Saturday of qualifying was rained out so they packed a full day of doubleheaders onto Sunday with matches lasting well into the evening. Then I was surprised by how light the schedule was for Monday, but then returning Tuesday had all the big names and players back on the courts for my final day. The Westwood Country Club uses 3 courts for competition. The Stadium, Grandstand and Court 11. Then there were Practice Courts 1, 3, 4, 5 and 12. The Stadium is beautiful. It's built beside a rustic brick player clubhouse. It exudes old fashioned charm. Capacity is 1700 with spectators having their own seat backs. There were no bleacher style benches. Players enter the Stadium coming from the Food Court area in the back. When matches are completed, players return towards the Food Court and it's a good opportunity for pictures and autographs. The Grandstand is situated next to the Stadium and offers 6 - 7 rows to accommodate fans. You can stand and watch the action near the Cadillac Club venue where there's plenty of shade blocking the sun from trees stretching over the court. Btw...the Cadillac Club is a drink/food venue to socialize while watching the Grandstand action up close. Court 11 was confusing. It's located opposite the Grandstand. To reach Court 11, you walk up a hill and underneath the stadium stands to get there. But, there are no seats for watching at Court 11. You must stay on your feet, but the closeups of the tennis were unmatched. And...Court 12 is connected to Court 11. Practice Courts 1, 3, 4, 5 aren't too accessible to the fans (imo). They're pretty covered up with windscreens and I found it difficult to judge who was practicing on them. There were a few electronic monitors scattered around the grounds mentioning which players would be practicing on which courts and at what times. That was helpful but the problem again was that it was hard to watch players practicing due to the sharply tinted windscreens. It was $10 entrance fee for each day of Saturday and Sunday Qualifying Rounds. It was $20 entrance fee for Monday and Tuesday of the Main Draw rounds. I purchased tickets on my phone at the tournament's website...atxopen.com. I then added the tickets to Apple Wallet. Unfortunately, they don't have an App yet for the ATX Open. I'm believe that will change in future editions. Parking for Qualifying was at the HHSC Winters Building - 701 W 51st St, Austin. Parking here was free of charge. It's then a 10 minute shuttle bus ride over to the Westwood Country Club. Starting on Monday for the Main Draw, spectators parked at Camp Mabry (a military base) for $10 each day. Camp Mabry is located at 2200 W 35th St, Austin. It's then a 5 minute shuttle bus ride from Camp Mabry. You can also buy tickets for parking at atxopen.com. Some last extras.....during different intervals throughout the day, there were player Q&A's and autograph sessions for the fan experience. The Food Court area was composed of 4 - 5 Food Trucks. Behind the Grandstand was the Gift Shop. Prices for merchandise were typically high as they are now for all tennis tournaments. I paid $40 for an ATX Open tennis t-shirt. Hats and souvenir towels were $40 as well. Overall, I enjoyed the ATX Open and it's a good warmup tourney before the start of the Sunshine Double (Indian Wells and Miami). The quiet surroundings around the grounds made it feel like an intimate setting for fans. I was able to get up close to some of my favorite players which was rewarding. In the end, I think the Westwood Country Club is a fine venue for hosting a WTA 250 level tennis tournament. Although this was just the 3rd edition of the tourney, I anticipate it'll remain here in Austin for years to come.

We are currently experiencing a scary situation at Village @ Collinwood, our security gates have…read morebeen broken at my building since I moved in in May. Two gates one on either side of the building, one broken in closed position for my first 3 months,then Labor Day weekend all gates were disabled in the open position for the hurricane and on Oct. 23rd, they are still in the open position allowing for neighborhood drug deals in the parking lot to be an often times a day occurrence, our dumpsters overfilled by any truck that happens to drive by, etc.. When you combine that with the drug dealing by the family of the residents, it makes for a scary situation for seniors. The really frightening thing is, this is a 55 and up complex. One resident in a one bedroom in building 6 has currently 4 young men living with her. She says one is her son, two are nephews, and one a friend. All sleeping on the floor. I have complained to management 15 days ago about it, and yet, the noise and the commotion in the parking lot outside my window just gets worse. They are constantly showing up driving different cars, and coming and going at all hours and drinking in the parking lot. I used to get my exercise by walking the floors perimeters, but these thugs hang out in the back of the building with no thought to the noise of concerns of the residents, and management is either unwilling or unable to affect a solution to this. I am disabled and elderly and feel I should be able to walk here without fear of engaging these young punks. I was told only seniors, seniors with custody of grandchildren, or a family member acting as caregiver are the only ones allowed. Right now I am living in a nest of gangbangers and thugs, and the resident where they are staying has been hospitalized more than in actual residence here so WHAT GIVES? Until this situation is resolved, I'd check out the other properties available for yourself or a loved one as this is an UNSAFE situation, and it's only getting worse. In making my complaint to management I asked her to address these problems and let me know what she is going to do. Many residents here have also complained, so today a I am sending a letter to the corporate office to document this situation and lay the groundwork for legal actions. Carrie, Thank you for your response, however, as of this morning, both gates are still in open position at my building , and the gates on the other side of the street are still disabled so repairs if started, do not seem to be finished. The dumpster and the noise /drug problems in the parking lot can also be resolved with the gate repair...but as of today, there are mattresses and a sofa piled around both dumpsters, and have been there for a while, so the dumpsters are emptied, but the accumulating trash and furniture around them remain. ****** ****BUT THE MOST CONCERNING ISSUE OF SAFETY was not addressed in your reply, and this morning I noticed a brand new 20-30 something face I'd never seen before sitting out in front of the residence currently housing 4 men who don't belong here, bringing the total to 5. Their cars were in the lot just last night. Along with at least 5 cars that are years out of date on plates and registration. The safety of the residents is more than quiet, and empty dumpsters. Please address these men who are not on a lease, and have been living here now since the middle of September. If our manager would like to speak with me to address these concerns, she has my number, I did bring it up with her once, but until this response on Yelp from you , I have had no word about my safety complaints. I would be happy to do a walk around and show her my concerns. Please continue to resolve these issues, the safety of the myself and the other residents being my paramount concern. This place is HOME. In recent months, management has made progress throughout the property. The new…read moremaintenance guy, Alan, is a stellar guy. He's great and patient with us elder folk. The office staff is friendly and always willing to help. I had a few concerns but it seems like those concerns have been addressed or in progress. Now that covid19 restrictions have lifted the office is planning resident events. I'm excited for that. Socializing and interacting with neighbors is something I miss. BBQ pool parties and potlucks are my favorite activities. Keep up the good work guys. I appreciate you and so do many other residents.

The pinball machines are typically $1 or more per game, while the classic arcade games are just 50 cents each! I was especially in awe of the incredible pinball machines, including The X-Files, John Wick, Aerosmith, South Park, and more. A big thank-you to Allie for being so sweet and taking a video of us on the bumper cars! There is so much to do at Pinballz and so little time. I definitely need to come back for another visit!

We were in the process of leaving the second time. Every time we would go, multiple games wouldn't work but it's part of the pinballz experience and we just wrote it off as no big deal but the losses do pile up. I was there today and it was busy and more than half of the games didn't work. When they did work; they had glitches. I found an employee which is tough and they saw what I was saying and apologized and said to go to the counter and they can credit me back. The woman at the counter wasn't as nice and told me she wouldn't be crediting me back for games that didn't work and said it with a huge attitude. The way people treat people there is wild. I've literally spent thousands of dollars and when telling them I was having issues with 5 games and would like to be credited back for the games that didn't work; they seemed to take satisfaction in telling me no. I won't be back and no one there cares. Broken games and counter people with superiority complexes aren't a great match but they will still make their money. The last thing this place is is fun.

The line did move quickly. I came here today because they were having an import car show. I wasn't sure what to expect. I haven't been to a car show in a long time. The last really awesome show I went to was San Diego, and it was massive! This car show was much much smaller. But doesn't mean it was lacking. Most cars were Supra's, which are sexy, no question about it. Type R, couple BMW, Mustang, Volkswagen, even Lexus. Obvious these owners put a lot of love in their cars. The paint, the upgrades, the engines, the stereo system, and all the extra bells and whistles with interior lights, racing seats, and exhaust and rims. If you don't think cars have a personality, you wouldn't understand this car show. The line to get in was extremely long. But moved pretty quickly. I had my ticket on my phone in an email. But I also printed it out just incase. I checked in and got a wrist band. Once inside, you can roam around freely. They do have bathrooms inside and some food. I saw people walking around with popcorn and big warmed pretzels. Also you can buy drinks. And I think I saw liquor too. I wasn't sure where this center was, but if you're trying to picture where it is, it's across for Terry Blacks BBQ.
