We noticed that a number of people eating the fish and chips left food uneaten on their plates. The waitress was nice. But we watched our food sit under the warming lights for 10 minutes before it was served. Not good. The view was beautiful. Wonder when the owners last ate the food. Better to drive down the road to Genoa Bay for a better restautant experience.

A decent place to grab something if you're in the Maple Bay area. A very large pub with a ton of…read moreseating options. Lovely views over the docks. There's a parking lot on the lower part of hill, if you're not lucky to snag the few spots up front. I went here on a night that I just didn't feel like cooking supper & to enjoy the bay views before it got too dark. There was some larger groups eating/celebrating plus a smattering of smaller tables. I didn't notice more than one waitress & occasionally what I think was a manager on the floor serving. I wasn't in a huge rush to order but I do think the was some very long waiting periods to get a menu, get my a non-alcoholic drink and even much longer to be noticed I just wanted to get the bill to leave. I did appreciate that it was delivered warm. It wasn't a slammed place, but I do also understand when a waitress is running on fumes. So perhaps the bartender & manager could step in when when gaps need to be filled (as I noticed there was more tables awkwardly waiting to pay than me). Food was decent helping but nothing I would say was at a wow factor. I only had one meal here but my friends that have stopped here several times had good remarks about their meals. So maybe another stop by when I'm in the area is worth a second shot & enjoy a view to the water.

The first night my wife and I had scallops for appetizers and herb crusted Wild pacific salmon for the entrees. Their fish were cooked to perfection and the accompaniments were an enhancement as opposed to a dominating force. The second night I had escargot and my wife had the beet and goat cheese salad. We both loved our appetizers. The shepherds pie was good although I found the cheese on top of the mashed potatoes was neither necessary nor authentic, but it was still quite good. My wife had the duck confit which she liked very much. The ambiance is one of a country English cottage which felt cozy and warm and the servers were personable and solicitous without hovering. I'm guessing as good as most of the restaurants in town (Hastings House lies just outside the main strip).

Started out with lobster bisque (with a good amount of lobster) and a dozen snails (chef slipped a couple extra!) in a marvelous garlic butter and Parmesan sprinkled over all. Then for entree we enjoyed a wonderfully prepared Herb Crusted Wild Pacific Red Snapper With Creamy Parmesan Polenta, Basil Pesto. I enjoyed the Pan-Seared Nova Scotia Deep Sea Scallops on a fresh bed of lettuce mix and greens. So definitely a restaurant to try but you'll want to plan staying a night or two given they are on an island off the Vancouver island! Rooms are great also with some placed in cabins with views making you feel like you're in a tree house amongst the pines.

It is a small restaurant that trying to fit a lot of tables. Chairs are hard wood chairs. Very uncomfortable. 2. We did not order the price fixed menu and was told each person is suggested to order at least 3 dishes. We asked if we can switch the ala carte to set menu if we need more food. The answer is no. No flexibility is offered. 3. Tea serves in an open glass pot which can get cold easily. Also we were not advised that the tea can be refilled until quite late of dinner. 4. Out of the 7 dishes we feel only the trout and chicken livers paste are okay. The rest are quite heavy handed in salt despite they said they will not add additional salt. 5. The steak is done reverse seared and we were never asked about how do we like our steak. It came recut into 7 pieces - the three pieces at the ends of both sides are awfully overcooked like medium well. We reflected this feedback and the server did not apologize immediately but to argue with us. Despite they offered to redo the dish, we lost our appetite given the poor service. And they still charge the full price of the steak - no discount even 3/7 are chewy. 6. We did not order dessert but I guess that's how they want to make up. Ironically the dark chocolate mousse is the best dish for the night. 7. Open kitchen - it's one thing for open kitchen to connect with customers, without good ventilation is a big no no. I feel all my clothes and hairs are so smelly that I need to take a second shower to wash my hair to get rid of the stuffy eyes odour. Don't wear clothes you can't wash to this restaurant. Overall - food is quite salty and it's a one size fits all menu. Definitely a far from happy dining experience and definitely will not visit again.

LOOOOOVED the proportion of the pate to brioche and the cherries just went so well with it. The raw beef with King James Blue was an interesting flavour. Give it a try if you like blue cheese. I really enjoyed the trout two-ways as well. Lots of street parking available in the area and the service was professional. There is a quiet buzz in the restaurant from the surrounding conversations that really added to that intimate atmosphere. Highly recommend this place for a date night!
