The night started great. We had a party of 17. The venue is great, games, pool, darts, it's too bad there weren't more arcade games and the some of the ones they had were out of order. It would have been awesome if we could have actually used one of the monster TVs and a bunch of us play a group game like Mario Cart, Mario Party or something. This place has SO much potential. BUT...
We were presented with an "event" menu because we were told that the kitchen wasn't prepped for the full menu with a party of our size. I don't understand, if the bar was full, and everyone was ordering off of the regular menu, how would this be different? Our waitress was amazing, super attentive, really polite, and apologizing ALL the time, because although most of us us ordered off of the 'event' menu, it still took 45 minutes to get nachos. The food is standard, the prices are good. The concept is great BUT there are some SERIOUS issues.
1) only our waitress seemed to be actually working, I went to the bar to get a drink and the bar tender SAW me, then continued chatting up a guy who was nursing a glass of water instead of coming over, my original waitress ended up seeing me and come over to help anyways (I also got a picture of this waitress just standing there in her cell phone instead of actually working! ) I went to the bar instead of waiting for our waitress because I felt bad for her, running food, cleaning up, getting and pouring her own drinks all by herself. she is truly wasted in this place and we even told her that she should go somewhere else where they'd appreciate her. When one of my friends tried to complain to the manager about how rediculous it is to wait an hour for a veggie sandwich, the guy she was talking to told her that there wasn't a manger on shift that night. After speaking with another member of the staff we were told that not only was 'Joey' the manager, he's also the owner. Are you kidding me? The guy point blank lied to my friend about not being a manager, probably because he didn't want to listen to someone complain, when my friend did say something to him, his first reaction was "who was your server." I stopped him right there, it had NOTHING to do with our server and everything to do with the kitchen staff, the meal came out pipping hot, she was on the ball, she even kept apologizing for how long it was taking. I'm sure if she could have made it for us, she would have, and done it properly! A Greek salad is more then lettuce and feta! I'm floored that this manager/not-manager would jump to place blame on someone who had absolutely no control over someone else's screw up.
2) Then there's the music, this place is NOT a Nightclub, it's a 'bar and grill' so, why use up precious space that you could put more games and seating for a dance floor? Why have an actual DJ playing current B.S. Top 40's crap music in a retro bar, and playing it so loud, I couldn't hear the person next to me talking. Our group was really enjoying playing a game, since this place is supposed to be a game hang out, and we had to immediately stop because the DJ made it impossible to play.
3) it was HOT last night, and instead of putting air conditioning on, they had all the doors and windows open for a cross breeze, which in theory would have been nice, except it let the bugs in and everyone stepping out for a smoke could have just stayed inside, because our table got all of their second hand smoke through the windows, as someone who is allergic to that and I didn't have my inhaler, it was HORRIBLE! Who does that? Why would you want your customers to experience FINALLY getting their food and instead of tasting burger, you're eating an ashtray?
This place had the potential of making a lot of money last night, there were 3 large groups of birthday parties, one group left super early because the music was so loud, our group was completely gone by 11 and I'm sure the other group shortly after as half of them were gone before us, it's pretty pathetic to have this type of place cleared out before midnight. Such a great concept, it's too bad it has such lazy staff (except for one person who is completely under appreciated and was probably yelled at because of our one complaint that had NOTHING to do with her) and the owner who doesn't man up and do his job. On average, I'd say this place made $40/couple last night, and they could have racked in a ton, as all my friends are serious drinkers and we made plans for DDs, but because of everything mentioned above, they probably didn't make enough to run the place for the night.
I really wanted to recommend people to this place and make it a regular hang out, instead I've posted a rant and warning, if you want to enjoy your night, go somewhere else. read more
