So, I finally made it to 2Create yesterday ... What a cool gallery to have in Ramona! My husband…read moreand I found it reminded us of small art centers we have visited in Hawaii. How fortunate we are to have this in our town! We met artists Irma Pina-Garner and her husband, Ed Garner. They are such kind and genuinely interesting people who are so passionate about their crafts. No pressure to buy! When we got home my husband and I talked about how much we would love to have one of Irma's silk paintings so we measured a couple potential spots and I went back today to measure her pieces that are on display and I ended up staying almost an hour just talking to Irma and Ed and looking at more art in depth. One of the things I was concerned about was that one of Irma's pieces was almost perfect but I wasn't sure that the color of the mats would work in the space we are considering. She said no problem, we could work with her framer (Bill Anderson, the Frugal Framer) to do a changeout for a reasonable price - or maybe we will just start from scratch with one of her unframed pieces. Thanks to the Begents for bringing this special space to Ramona!

It is so nice to have a cozy and quiet space to stop and get things completed without the distractions of home pulling at me. Two of My kids are on independent study and sometimes we need a change of scenery to work in. Ramona Workspace is prefect for that! they have less distractions which means more work accomplished....and Holly always has snacks;) The bathroom is clean, and the layout of the workspace is bright and inviting. I think my favorite part is the historic view of Main Street right out the front window. I also love that it is close to 3 coffee shops, food and shopping! Ramona Family Naturals, Main Street Coffee and Cattle Dog Cafe, Mamma Ramona's Pizzeria, The Rusted Poppy On Main, Uptown Boutique, Rustic Interiors LLC and The CLM Tee Shop. If the timing is right and my work is done, I can walk right next door to Pamo Valley Winery Tasting Room and have a glass of wine to finish the day or meet with clients.

Did you know... fresh farm eggs can sit on the counter (unrefrigerated) for up to 14 days IF the eggs have yet been refrigerated. And they are SO good. Obviously, refrigerate if they won't be consumed within the 14 days but once refrigerated they must stay refrigerated . When buying at the booth, they have not been refrigerated. Current price: $8 for 1 dozen. Expensive but quality and freshness is priceless. If you haven't had fresh farm eggs or don't know the difference, you need to refine that pallet of yours because you are missing out. Fresh as in unwashed!!! I've gone "country" in this beach city! Many times I have considered taking the drive to Ramona to the farms to hunt for some fresh eggs for my baked goods, breakfasts, and my fresh pasta noodle making. Especially when it comes to making my fresh pasta noodles from scratch I want the freshest eggs possible. Well, you don't need to drive to the farms. Their tent is available at some of the farmers markets around the county. If you see their tent, don't pass them up! Well worth $8. Some of the other food vendors at the farmers markets use their eggs as well. I had a "breakfast bowl" and they were frying up fresh eggs from Three Sons Farm. The taste of fresh eggs... I can't find the right words that deserve their compliments. Has a fresh and clean taste to them. The yolk doesn't have a harsh "yolks-ness" taste, it's lighter and creamier - if that makes sense?! The difference is in the yolk. I will take creamier over store bought any day. Ex: I make my own fresh pasta noodles from scratch. That alone, the noodles are already fresh and silky. Mostly three-dimensional and subject to the vagaries of Ramona's weather, the sculptures and castings are well worth the drive to Ramona. Add to that the ability to taste wines and enjoy interesting food, and this place is a Must-See Destination. The primary exhibit is an authorized and authentic replica of Michelangelo's Pieta'. It is breathtaking. Also saves a trip to Italy. The other displayed works of art are fascinating, if not intriguing. Some are humorous. Plan for an hour to view and absorb all of the beauty on display. Closed shoes are recommended. Then there's the wine-tasting. A flight of four generously poured wines du jour costs $15, and a small glass of iced sangria was thrown in for good measure. Today's four wines consisted of Ruby Cabernet, Malbec, Petite Sirah and Port. The Ruby Cabernet tasted too astringent, a sign of a wine 'before its time', and in my opinion should not have been served. The Malbec and Sirah were quite good. The Port was light and excellent. The sangria was delightful, but not quite fruity enough. It was a good tasting! The wine tasting service was excellent and friendly, but we did not order food, having stuffed ourselves at Josie's Hideaway in Santa Ysabel. The background music was Frank Sinatra crooning his classics. Perfect. My plan is to visit when pizza and other entrees are served. A simple phone call to verify would be prudent before embarking on the drive. This place truly qualifies as a "Hidden Gem".

They have a lot of different art in various mediums. There were several pieces I was drawn to and most are for sale. I wish I had more wall space. When I walked into the space, the man working greeted me quickly and said I could fill out a small paper choosing my favorite piece, and they do a 'best in show' every month, based on the votes. We mostly buy her honey and candies, but she also has stuffed animals and figurines from her own alpaca fur. Her plants and succulents are in really good shape. She also has a lot of mini trinkets for sale that are fun for kids and adults. Her farm is very open, and enjoyable. She has many animals, including chickens, ducks, bunnies, dogs, alpacas, and emus. All of which are visible from the entrance. Not only are her products excellent, but she is also super nice, friendly, and neighborly- I absolutely love her products, especially the ones made of honey. They are well worth the cost.
