I haven't been to this Old Navy in over a decade. I felt that it was time to revisit it. I didn't expect this visit to be more emotional than I had expected.
The last time I shopped at this particular store, I was sixty pounds heavier than I am now and could only fit in size 18 clothing. Back then, its sister company, Gap, only offered women's clothing up to a size 16. Old Navy was my store. It recognized folks like me who needed larger sizing, offering women's clothing up to a size 20 those days.
There was a sale happening. I could get up to 60% off items. Yay!
I can't tell you when I last shopped at Old Navy. Now that I fit in Gap clothing, it tends to me where I shop, but more at its outlet stores.
It was cool seeing summer clothing, from long summer dresses, to shorts. I also saw shaker-knit sweaters that were a thing in the 80's and have returned. Cool and weird!
My usual habit is to head over to the back of the store and take a look at the clearance section. I automatically went to the 3x section. I realized that I used to go to this area because it used to have my former size. I was happy that sizing is more inclusive.
I found my current clothing size. The good thing about shopping at sister companies is that sizing is the same at them. I found two pairs of pants that were significantly reduced. I grabbed them and headed to the change room to try them on.
The change room did have a lineup. It caters to everyone. Once a room is available, you head over, lock the door, and try your items out. I was so happy that both pants fit so well. No muffin top. I could breathe. It was great and a reminder of how far I have come.
I headed to the checkout lineup. It looked long, but it moved quickly. I had the nicest woman cashing me out.
She asked if I was signed up for rewards. I had no idea. I entered my phone number on the payment screen and I was good. Yay!
She asked me if I wanted to use my $4 towards my purchase. Hey, why not? I don't know when I'll be at an Old Navy next.
I was pleased with my total. I paid with my debit card. All was great. This woman put my items in a paper bag and wished me a great day. I reciprocated and headed out the door with a smile on my face.
If you do need to use the washroom, it's at the back of the store, to the right of the clearance section.
It was great returning to this store. I love a good sale and this store had one. I'm so pleased with my purchases.
