Favorite Old Navy location in Portland. This store is a bit smaller than most, which I like, because it's easier to find items in a store that really packs in the merchandise. Lloyd Center ON is far more organized and clean than most others. Customer service is always friendly, they proactively ask if help is needed, and will attempt to find you sizes not on the store shelf either through checking their back room inventory or online. Clothes at Old Navy are "disposable" in my mind. Meaning, they are so inexpensive that you can buy something that is in fashion this season knowing you will only wear it a few times, and that's OK. At Old Navy it's not about spending lots of money on a quality item that will be in your wardrobe for years; it's quantity over quality. This is where I come for basics, easy layering cotton tank tops for under $10. Twice a year they have a day where they sell these tanks for $2. Since I'm on their email list, I get there in the morning and buy a dozen to get me through the season. Several white and black, then one in popular colors like navy, olive, turquoise, pink. The old ones become dust rags! Lol. Old Navy has long sleeve basic t-shirts also and they are perfect for fall and winter. Dress them up with a scar, wear them under a denim or moto jacket and your all set. All of my yoga pants and leggings are bought here, often for under $20 and they last a long time. Same with the pullover half zip workout tops. Yesterday I came looking for a basic pair of jeans with straight legs. The skinny and super skinny leg trend is not for me; actually I don't find them attractive on anyone. But trying to find a pair with "normal" legs exhausted my patience. There were stacks and displays and wall displays and hanging racks all in different parts of the store. With so many options. Skinny. Super skinny. Rock star skinny. Mid rise. High rise. Elevated high rise. Make it stop! I abandoned the cause and ordered my tried and true favorite jeans from Eddie Bauer! Old Navy. Value. There's the equation. Lot-o-clothes for the money. Style...well, it's not at the top of the agenda here. There's this one little area of men's clothes (which is a small area in ON) that has some real gems in it: pants. Docker-like pants for $20 (I just saw the same thing at Nordie's for $80). Cargos for $20. Cargo shorts for $15. Picked up a long sleeve cotton knit sweater for $8 while I was at it. Picked up my favorite baggy-casual-many pockets-don't care what happens to it jacket a while back for $15. Their clothes hold up really well (I have a pair of cargoes that are eight years old and still going strong), and they fit me really well too (which isn't easy). You do have to be careful or you can end up looking like "oh god there's one of those ring-neck t's that they sell at Old Navy for $3." Tragically. I was racially profiled at this Old Navy in Lloyd Center in 2014. I bought three T Shirts and some hair perfume and I put my receipt into my wallet. I had enough shopping bags from different stores that I had every receipt for as well. The two employees decided that because I'm a Black woman that they would stand in front of the door (to the side) and the male associate said to the female associate,... "Is that her?" Well, I heard that. After that, I told a few of my friends who used to shop at Lloyd Center Mall to avoid Old Navy as well. I did get a receipt... and I was watched by nearly everybody else in line when I paid. There was a problem with the next person as well in the Checkout line. I was told that sometimes the racist people will be racist to your face if they are from a smaller town and then they move to Portland for work... so maybe that's what happened. Swimsuit season, blech. I needed something other than my 5-years-ago, 5 sizes too small bikini. I walked into Old Navy, grabbed two one pieces to try on and bought the first one. First of all, it was like $20. It had a control top spandexy number going on and still had a cute shape to it. I didn't feel like a grandma, I felt like I could both move and actually swim in it but it wasn't too old-lady-ish. Win! read more

Old Navy (the cheaper, baby sister to Gap & Banana Republic) is a good spot to pick up value-priced, everyday clothing items for the budget conscious. PRO: They got rid of the dressing rooms in the back of the store and now have convenient little dressing stalls spread throughout the store. TIP: Always check the clearance racks for bargains galore. My cashier was Erika and she was awesome. I was greeted in the store at least 3 times by employees, all of whom seemed super nice and friendly. I should also say I hate shopping. I almost quit shopping at the mall because I hate shopping so much, even though I really needed some activewear. My wife and I had already been to about 4 other stores looking for men's activewear, and all I wanted to do at that point was go home and drink because I hate shopping so much. Instead, my wife insisted I go to Old Navy to look at their stuff, because she's stronger than I am, and felt that Old Navy would have some good stuff. Honestly, I'm grateful she has more fortitude than I do, because she was right. I found some nice black gothy running clothes right away. The sales were awesome, the staff was friendly, and suddenly, I wasn't in an awful mood anymore. So thanks for that! I even kind of want to go back again maybe one day. YAY! I love Old Nay. There prices are great and their staff at the Lloyd Center is great. They are always very friendly and very helpful. You can ask any of them about anything and they will always have a good answer adn if they don't they find someone who does. Make sure that you have a lot of time on your hands as you will spend at least 30 minuets waiting in the checkout line. I came in for a pair of cheap earrings, took 2 minuets to find and I spent the rest of my lunch HOUR waiting in the check out line. 3 employees working checkout with zero sense of urgency, won't be back here. read more
