This was by far the worst buying experience. My fiancé and I went in to buy suits for our wedding…read moreparty. The first time we went in we were never greeted and when someone did eventually come over to help us it seemed that we were inconveniencing her when asking questions. We left that day with written prices and item numbers. We went back the following week to purchase all six suits. Long story short, since the lady we had previously spoken to was not there at the time we had to deal with another employee. This gentleman quoted us 3 different prices in a matter of 20 minutes. We ended up waiting for the lady, who was the manager, to get in for her shift and when we showed her the paper with the pricing she told us that we were wrong and she never would have quoted us those prices! Unbelievable since we had her written information to prove it. The lack of customer service was atrocious. I sent an email to corporate regarding our experiences...it was that bad. I would give this store zero stars if I could. I hope no one has an awful experience like we did. We ended us buying our suits elsewhere...somewhere that knew what customer service was.

Aside from a mom and pop store I'd consider their main competition to be the "Men's Wearhouse."…read more I was brought in by a sale which was effectively buy two, get three free. Keeping in mind their normal prices are out of my league I felt I got a good deal. I felt similar when I took advantage of MW's bogo sale. This location has more of a dressy selection of clothes versus MW. I prefer the choices of dress shirts here; the fabric and fit are terrific. The pant/slacks are also excellent quality. They offer free tailoring although they don't advertise it (why?). I don't know that it's free 'lifetime' tailoring like MW, perhaps that's why (they don't advertise it.) JAB salespeople were not as aggressive as MW but also a shade less helpful. In either case I'm not calling those negatives since everyone has different shopping preferences. It's just my observation. If I need more dress clothes and they have a sale I'd come back.

Whilst I heard about the tone in the store from surrounding towns, I had to experience the negative…read morecomments for myself. The energy in the store is toxic. By this I mean.......... A strong scent of snootiness in the air. I went in dress in my hippie clothes, after shopping the farmers market and the service I got was poor, especially for a local store. Is this Macy's??? OR a speciality store????? I have received better service at much lower end stores. You can find the same brand they have there on line, but cheaper. Shop the specific brand you like from there and get a coupon on line. That's what we did, after working with a salesperson that was way too into judging the way I was dressed, we wrote down the brand, googled it, went on line and got a 20% coupon off for first time buyers. Also, the clothing is VERY OLD LADY. I will never return due to the service and bad energy in the space and tell others the same.

I love this store! Not only do they have an amazing selection of quality items, I adore the owners…read more My mother happens to be a regular here and whenever I go in to pick her gifts or grab a gift certificate I am always greeted warmly and tended to as a friend. They help me pick items they think my mother would enjoy (they probably know better than me) and they wrap everything so beautifully. If you are looking for a bargin bin or a super slashed discount sale, stick to the big box stores. If you are looking for UNIQUE, quality items that will LAST and want to support local business- give A.O White a try.

But seriously, the sign did say 50% off women's tops, and I'd never been to that particular shop, so ya know how that goes--I made hubby pull a u-turn and we went in. It's a small place, but neat and clean. It felt more like a boutique than a secondhand store (it does call itself a "thrift boutique," so that's pretty apt a description). Everything is organized, and they've got a little bit of everything, including a small back room with decor items and housewares. Prices seemed reasonable. I picked up a pretty scarf for $4 and a leopard print tote for $3, both in excellent condition. This is a place to come in, poke around, and find some treasures to add to your wardrobe. So glad we stopped by!

"We'll drive for the line Now there's nothing to be lost…read moreYou and I will cross over With no second thoughts" (Tom Petty) This is the third of the Second Chance Shops I've visited, after previous trips to their Simsbury and Glastonbury locations. I always take a look at the men's shirts first. I was very surprised to see them tagged at $12 here, which is substantially more than I customarily see at the Simsbury store, where I've picked up quite a few similar long sleeve Oxford shirts for $5. Otherwise, the store is very neat and organized and has the usual accompaniment of clothing, footwear, accessories, household goods, books, etc. I'm definitely a fan of thrift and second hand stores, and even though I was looking for a long sleeve white shirt, I walked out empty-handed today.
