Ordered our food and waited an hour for our food to come out, ordered the mixed roast at £18 as we wanted all the trimmings, when it came out it looked like scraps of leftovers! Cold Yorkshire pudding, cold stuffing, no crackling, lukewarm potatoes, not even complete meats, waited 10 mins for the veg which looked nowhere near enough for 1 person let alone 2! We asked the lad who served us to tell what meat we had as they all looked the same ....scraps, he said he had no idea. Asked a lady if she was the manager, her response, depends who's asking. Explained the issue, she was uninterested, just said they were very busy today but just read their reviews as they are really good! So leaving this one for you to decide! Would not go back ever again! Total shambles! And no way of getting a Sunday roast this late in the day so thank you very much!

Everything…read morefrom the atmosphere, the food, and the price fit my perfect fantasy of a local English pub experience. A few elderly chaps in the corner, a couple with their little dog next to their table, and lots of local flair! After a hike through the countryside, my sister-in-law and I stopped here for some post-hiking sustenance around lunch. This 17th century rustic, cottage-style lodge serves ale, hard cider, and some down-home English country soul food! I shared a bacon and brie sandwich, added a little ketchup, and OMG! My taste buds were very merry, indeed. Top it all off with a pint of dry English cider. This pub has a gorgeous authenticity about it, with its cracked stone walls and cozy "wood and wine" color theme. It's full of some serious character! Seating is limited, so you might want to call ahead to check if they are busy. And their website lets you know what local ales are currently being offered on tap. This is a real hidden gem, Dursley! Thanks for making this silly American girl very happy.

I gather the cafe itself is owned and run by the Novalis Trust and serves to bring work and responsibilities for people with learning or behavioral difficulties who are often deprived of opportunity by their disposition. My colleague and I stopped here for mid morning rest bite whilst working nearby. The menu was slightly limited but the essentials of English breakfasts, and panini's were there as well as lots of cakes and nibbles We both opted for mozzarella panini's and a flat white. Admittedly there was some slight confusion over the term flat white which came to light when our very milky single shot coffees came out. There was a look of extreme skepticism between us as we tried the coffee. Upon discussion we decided we wouldn't drink them as weak and milky they were so we had to (rather sheepishly) send them back. Despite our very british trait of not wanting to make a fuss. We both know we are perhaps slightly pedantic when it comes to coffee and were half expecting a defensive retort. However the barista (for lack of a better word) seemed very interested, and asked to know more about what we considered to be a flat white. After having a very brief and friendly discussion our barista friend seemed very eager to make us one. The result was a very paletable flat white. Yum The food was as you'd expect, you aren't expecting to be blown away by a panini and this was decent enough, especially the brown breaded one which was topped with lots of tasty seeds. All in all a fairly decent coffee shop with excellent service and personable staff.

Of noted is the new addition of tapas style nibbles and starters (pata bravas, chroizo slices, iberico ham and feta stuffed peppers). And I've been long overdue for a review of the local favourite. We came today celebrating both Mother's Day and a 45 sapphire anniversary. I shared a lovely charcuterie with the missus, which includes the above mentioned iberico ham, chorizo slices and feta stuff peppers (all of which can be ordered separately off the small pates menu). Surprisingly the "ample" selection was plenty to share for two, and I can only guess that the "generous" portion would be meant for parties of four. I also enjoyed a lovely lamb roast that came with sides of kale, parsnips and perfectly roasted potatoes. Others in our party had the roast beef and roast pork; both of which I was told were delicious! We also shared a triple chocolate dessert that had an amazingly sweet and tart passionfruit sorbet. All of this was enjoyed with a few pints of Amstel, bottles of champagne and fantastic service. I'm looking forward to the next family occasion to celebrate at the Gumstool.

The service was friendly and efficient, drinks were brought and food orders taken. Lovely hot bread and starters included calamari, devilled kidneys and moules mariniere. All were pronounced excellent and the mains were fish and chips, skate, rib eye steak and scallops. We couldn't manage deserts or coffee so we took a walk around the delightful grounds before heading for home. The bill for four was £123 including a bottle of Torrontes Altosur good value, we thought. It's on the list for a revisit.
