i would give negative stars. they claimed our family dog needed a "life saving surgery" that's was over $5k or our dog would have to be euthanize. this was not true and another animal hospital luckily found the actual problem. She did not need surgery and she is not going to die, these people are just scammers and do not care about pets. read more

Awesome caring service at Old Forge! They were accepting new patients so I took my first ever kid there. Recommended all the needed shots and addressed any problems as my pup just came from the shelter. We noticed that our 5 year old female cat beginning to lose weight then not eating or drinking & vomited in her litter pan. We called Old Forge animal hospital on 4/15/2023 & they said to bring her right down. They gave her 2 shots & sent us home with 3 cans of prescription digestive cat food charging us $820.00 on our credit card. We were giving her water by syringe & the food also as advised as she still was not eating or drinking. we called them 5 days later telling them this, again they said to bring her right down took an X-Ray stating to us that there was a large dark area that was an infection saying that she must have eaten something very toxic? We could not figure what that could have been. They told us that they would hook her up to intervenus for 4 days (this was Tuesday),at a cost of $3000 but if we paid cash charge would be $2,600.00 cash. We picked her up on Saturday morning them telling us the infection was gone, all of her levels on the blood work were normal injected her with 2 more shots & said that she was drinking & licking the juice off the prescription canned cat food. They said to give her anything that she wanted to eat. We took her home & she was very frail & not moving around as she was before. We took her home setting up a smorgasbord of food & she still would not eat, She had the urge to drink & would lay her head on the pet water fountain with her chin touching the water but could not drink the water. We began to give her water by syringe. On Tuesday 4/25/2023 we texted OF animal hospital telling them & they texted back saying to stop giving water by syringe & give Pedialite instead for energy also saying to give her baby food (chicken stage 1) by syringe. she vomited the baby food up & we called them telling them this. They told us to bring her back down & they would hook her back up for another 4 days @ the same cost of $2,600.00 cash. We asked what percentage that this would save her life. They told us 1%. We called other vets asking for a second opinion & finally got a vet @ Abington to take her in on the following day @ 9:30 AM. She vomited in her litter pan that night & passes away @ 8:30 Am Thursday before we could get her up to Abington. we believe that they misdiagnosed her & could have told us ,if they did not know what was wrong with her so that we could have gone to somewhere else sooner & possibly saved her life. We found out later that pedialite contains zinc & is very toxic to cats (not to administer under any circumstance). Sure enough on the bottle stated it contains 25% zinc. We have had her for 5 years & loved her very much. We are heartbroken as everywhere that we look in our home we see her as she loved us as much & trusted us. We feel that we let her down & she should not have suffered the way that she did. We are telling this to let unsuspecting people that are thinking about bringing your pet to Old Forge animal hospital not to do it. Make an appointment to get in with a reputable vet that can give a truthful diagnosis. We found out too late However, (Pedialyte due to a change in their formula, it is imperative that you do not under any circumstances give your cats or kittens Pedialyte anymore! Recently the Pedialyte company started adding zinc to the Pedialyte and zinc is extremely toxic to cats and kittens and will actually make them even sicker). End of story they had us kill our beloved Luna by our own hand. I hope they rot in HELL read more

Dr. Gad and his staff did a great job taking care of our precious tabby. They made sure she had all of her shots and her spay surgery was as quick and painless as possible. I used Dr. Gad for many years for our cats. He was always kind, compassionate and caring. He was the first vet to advise us that "for your baby's heath and for your pocketbook, keep him inside at all times, no matter how much he wants to go outside. Eventually he will forget." That was over 20 years ago and the best advice anyone has ever given us about our kitties. This was after our indoor/outdoor Manx cat nearly died because of a Hartz product that was marketed as safe for cats but should never have been. Since my.last post I got my cat her too the surgery. As a direct result of Dr. Gad leaving her tooth in she developed a tumor which will now invade her face and eye. She's now on borrowed time and pain meds. If this had been removed 3 months ago we would not be in this position. She is comfortable most days due to pain meds but I will have to watch and decide when her quality of life gets too poor. I have reported Dr gad to the veterinary liscencening board. I hope all others he's hurt will do the same. read more

Dr. Gad is the most wonderful veterinarian I have ever used. He & his staff are extremely caring & compassionate. They cared for my lab mix for several years. I was never pressured to take the most expensive route, unlike many other offices. When she developed arthritis, I was recommended liquid glucosamine. When it became worse after a few years, she got a common pain pill. Nothing experimental or outrageously pricey. All of my questions are always answered. We recently had to put her down after she developed osteosarcoma rapidly. The Dr & his son were able to make a home visit to make this difficult goodbye a little less painful by keeping her comfortable. I will be forever grateful for everything they have done & will continue to use the office for my other fur babies. read more

I Would wipe out all the stars if I could. Took my cat there because he was sick and they took him in that day. Checked his teeth used a thermometer( which I then noticed wasnt sanitized he wiped it off with a tissue and put it back on the counter) told me I wasnt taking care of my cat because he was allowed to go outside to eat grass, The cat was a stray. After much money and being told my cat needed their special food I could only buy from them. My cat got worse had to take him to the Emergency vet hospital in clarks summit and he had so much wrong with him we had to put him down. And did anyone ever notice that when they leave on Sat no one checks on the animals until Monday? DONT take your animal to them all they want is your money read more

Wish I could give 0 stars. My cat stopped eating so we took her here cause this was the only vet that could fit her in asap. They told us that under normal examination she was fine and took some xrays. They told us she has asthma and gave us asthma meds and sent us on our way. 2 days later i found tumors just from lightly touching her stomach. They obviously didnt really look at her and charged us 500 for a misdiagnosis. Don't go here if you love your animals read more

I've been taking different pets here for years and yes it's very affordable however none of the animals has survived going to their office. I will no longer come here. The cheap cost is not worth the heart ache from their malpractice. Most of the medications they prescribe are deadly. They even suggested giving my cat Pepto-Bismol about five years ago and that cat passed away from the aspirin in that over-the-counter medication. I just had a kitten pass away due to kidney failure from too much antibiotics that they prescribed. You can't trust these people. read more

Please research your vet before you take him. I had a 1 year old cat that went for an injured hip and the next morning I had to take him to the plains animal hospital because he couldn't breathe. I ended up losing my kitten because he had heart failure from a steroid overdose. read more

If I could leave negative stars, I wouldn't hesitate to do so. My cat had been vomiting for two days and we brought him in for an exam. I wasn't aware that their full exam consisted of taking his temperature and nothing further. When his condition did not improve, we brought him in again two days later and we wound up spending almost $700 before bringing him to another vet for a second opinion. When he was properly examined by the second doctor, he found the problem right away and learned he needed emergency surgery that day. When I went back to the first office to get copies of his records, I was met with rude comments and treated like a child for not bringing him back to them for a third visit. If you care about the well-being of your animal I highly suggest you go to a different vet. read more

I went here once. My rabbit was sick. The doctor gave me the wrong antibiotic and that ended up killing the rabbit. I just don't understand how someone with that level of education can still be so dumb. It's a joke. It's pathetic and I wouldn't ever go again. read more
