Usually the center of a cinnamon roll is the gooiest most delicious part. Not here.

Dry and lacking flavor. Such a change from the moist gooey cinnamon rolls I remember getting when they opened up years ago (and you can look old reviews' photos to compare). But as is so often the case around here, over time, places choose to skimp on quality instead of raising their prices to maintain the quality that customers were used to. I did notice that next to the register, there's extra frosting or extra cinnamon butter that you can buy. Had I known how little frosting would be on the cinnamon rolls, I definitely would've purchased more of that. But adding cinnamon butter after they're baked (when that's the part that's supposed to be baked into the bread) doesn't really have the same impact. It's just a shame that now I can "add on" elements that used to be part of the product. (I wonder how many people choose to add-on and therefore demonstrate they are willing to pay more for the finished product?) Unfortunately, this area is still underserved when it comes to quality breakfast pastries. If raising prices isn't an option, I wouldn't mind a smaller cinnamon roll that had the same gooeyness and flavor that I was used to. Or, perhaps they could have an old-fashioned option that actually lives up to what they used to serve, and a "light" option that is less expensive and uses less butter/frosting for people who don't care as much about quality. The sad part is, I know they're making these products by hand, but they taste like they were frozen because there's just so little butter and cinnamon inside.

Cute little bakery!!!! Lovey people. It smells so good in there when you walk in. It's and open kitchen area , so you see everyone working. It was my first time there so I had a few questions and they were happy to help! I bought cinnamon rolls, bread pudding, and two cheesecakes. Everything was so good. Just simple homemade tasting treats that gives you a nostalgic feel.

I had read multiple reviews about this place having wonderful cinnamon rolls...they were right! It was so good. We went early. They had sweet cream, peach and regular cinnamon rolls. There was not a wait or line. You can see the owners baking right behind the counter. There is no schedule of flavors, they said they decide that morning what they will make. They were hot and very good. The peach was just right, not too strong but a fresh peach flavor. The sweet cream and regular were great too. Fresh and perfect tasting. We have tried other local places, but would come back here again.

Cinnamon roll that you won't ever forget.

Sometimes you don't go looking for a wonderful adventure, it finds you. We were leaving the Kimberling City Walmart, and my daughter, out of the corner of her eye, spied a "Cinnamon Rolls" sign in the strip mall across the street. We decided to come back the next day for a breakfast run. Now, I've been to several Branson-area bakeries that supposedly specialize in cinnamon rolls. And, while none were bad, they mostly fell into just the "ok" category. The Old Fashioned Dough Company on the other hand isn't ok, it's AMAZING. First, the people behind the counter are super friendly and their service is fantastic. We watched the baker rolling out a batch of cinnamon rolls, and he happily explained everything he was doing. When we placed our order for a couple cinnamon rolls, the counter person could have just handed us the already boxed rolls on the counter. Instead, she took two right off the baking line. You can imagine how warm and soft those were! Second, the cinnamon rolls did not disappoint - they are light and airy, and very cinnamon-y. I like that they don't put too much topping, just enough. After all, when you buy a cinnamon roll, you want to taste the roll, not a glop of sugar topping. Oh, did I mention that these are huge? My daughter and I shared one, and we still couldn't finish the whole thing. (Tho the friend who was with us did, and my daughter and I were beyond amazed as he inhaled it.) Third, while we came for cinnamon rolls, they also have a whole bunch of other similarly outsized treats. I couldn't resist placing a second order: a blueberry danish, a bread pudding, a peach cobbler (plus a couple more cinnamon rolls to take home). The only thing to be cautious about the Old Fashioned Dough Company is that if you are suffering from a severe cinnamon roll craving, get there before 2:00 pm. Like most bakeries, they don't stay open past early afternoon.

The majority of the cinnamon roll was thick with cinnamon. It was bitter and gross.

I've been going to Old Fashioned Dough Company for a year now. I have mostly good cinnamon rolls. This morning I got one that was very hard to eat because the cinnamon was thick. I called them to let them know. The lady was a bit contrary and let me know they are the same as they've always been. She told me I could return it or get a new one. I was already home so it'll just be a loss. I told her, "I'm just calling to let you know I couldn't eat half of it because it was so bitter and heavy on the cinnamon." I continued," I don't know if someone new is making the cinnamon rolls but to let them know the cinnamon was way to strong." She then told me there was a new girl making them but she wouldn't let her if she wasn't sure she could do it." I understand new people need to get into their groove but don't immediately defend your cinnamon roll before checking into the situation. I felt like a bother for telling them.

Fantastic cinnamon buns! Very moist. Large too. I have nothing more to say. Yelp won't let me post unless I write on and on.

Stopped into Steamy Joe's Café on a Sunday morning fully prepared for a "put your name down and…read morerethink your life choices" kind of wait. Imagine our surprise when we were quoted 35-minute wait (down the road was 1.5 hours) and a family in front of us had left for their 4th breakfast spot! It turned into us being seated, ordered, and sipping drinks within that actual timeframe! Not sure if this Rare. Magical. Suspiciously efficient. What I did notice is this crew has service dialed in. It was like watching a well-rehearsed dance--servers working together, drinks magically staying full, plates appearing exactly when they should. Tables everywhere: outside, upstairs, downstairs, tucked into every possible nook it looks. If there is square footage, Steamy Joe's found a way to seat people on it. The menu covers breakfast, lunch, drinks, and pies that deserve their own fan club. We had a few special orders in our group (you know who you are), and they nailed every single one without hesitation. Yes, there was even a line just to put your name on the list --and honestly, worth it. Bonus points for the fabulous view out back, which makes the wait even easier to forgive. We will absolutely be back. Just maybe not at peak Sunday brunch time... because clearly everyone else already knows how good this place is.

There were 4 of us, we entered bldg to find a waiting line. No big deal, it honestly didn't take long to get seated. We were waited on promptly and our server was good. I wanted to try a waffle, others in the group had pancakes. I ordered hot tea to drink and the hot water came in one of those little metal pitchers. Drinks came quickly and so did the food for as crowded as the place was. The food was good, kids enjoyed their pancakes. My waffle was really good, crunchy outside and chewy inside. When our food was brought our server also refilled drinks. He brought a larger insulated pitcher with more hot water for my tea. I appreciated that, until I used some of the water. One could tell they also used it for coffee, and therefore my hot tea tasted not good, I could pick up the coffee flavor. It was a good breakfast all in all. Portions were good size. Now, I would like to address owners/mgmt. Please do not state, in many places on your menu, that warm MAPLE syrup is served with your menu options. It was warm, but please change the wording to "pancake syrup", for that's what it was, plain old pancake syrup. No maple flavor in it whatsoever, not even yucky imitation maple flavoring. I would come back in the future and would recommend this restaurant to folks. But next time I'll get Biscuits and Gravy

I may need to update my review of this place after we've given it another shot, assuming that we…read moredo. That said, here's how our visit went. I should start by saying that we arrived fairly late, I'd say within the last 40-50 minutes that they were open. We didn't realize that we arrived so late inside the restaurant as it took a while to park and make our way inside. When we arrived and made our way to the ordering/checkout stand to place our order, the guy just stared at us and didn't even say a word. No hello or anything. The vibe he gave us was very "go away," even though he didn't actually say that of course. We asked if it was OK if we order and he grunted out what we thought was a "yes." I have to say that I am incredibly disappointed with the fact that this is the type of place where you go up and order your food and then sit down. Seems like a missed opportunity by them not having table service. It felt very much like a concession stand that happened to be outside of a gift shop. When trying to figure out what to order, we had a few questions for the young kid running the register. The entire time he's barely speaking a word, so it was incredibly awkward and irritating. We order our food and my husband had to ask another question, which he either did not hear or just deliberately ignored. When our food comes out, it's delivered to the table and we tried to eat quickly so we could get out of their hair. For a restaurant that's tied to a tourist trap, we did not feel welcome at all. Now, I'm not an idiot, I know we showed up within the last hour of their day, but come on, this is a tourist spot. I feel like the staff should've been a little more gracious. If this had been my business, I would be appalled at how my customers were being treated, no matter what time they arrived. On another note, the older gentleman out in the parking lot that was driving the tram from the restaurant area to the parking lot area was an absolute delight. We did not even ride the tram and I can tell you that the man driving it really enjoys what he does. He was so polite and friendly, even when we declined the ride. Kudos to that guy for providing excellent customer service. Anyway, back to the restaurant. I ordered the shepherds pie, which was actually pretty good. It came out hot as blue blazes Dallas though lol, so I had to keep blowing on it to cool it off. If we do end up giving this restaurant another shot, I would be happy to order the same thing again. My husband was not a fan of his food though. I can't recall what he ordered. We both tried the baked beans and they were pretty good. Anyway, I'm tired as I'm writing this so it's probably going to come off a bit jumbled. Short story long, we will likely try this place again at some point in the future since we are local and also plan on checking out the Shepherd of the Hills activities. That said, customer service could use some improvement in the restaurant itself.
