I was Lied to about my Pickup truck: My Pickup was dropped off on March/2021 and I patiently waited over 13 months fueled by empty promises by John. I called Every other week and either someone was being hired to check my initial electrical issue, or parts were arriving for a new belt, battery, etc..., or "Fluids" needed to be changed on the Pickup. At the end there was apparently something always being done to this Pickup. After over a year he told me that he had the vehicle running and he was going to test it out driving it around and then out of nowhere according to him the car stopped working when I was going to Pick it up. Besides other promises about an additional vehicle which I am not even going to go into details..... I ended up taking the car from this repair shop and had a mechanic check to see if all of these new items that apparently were replaced were actually repaired and completed. To my surprise 13 months were waisted as the mechanic checked fluids, belts, battery, etc and nothing was done..... Its is sad as John seemed like an honest guy. I am really patient (13 months plus patient) and really wanted to give him the opportunity to make things right. I have attempted to call but either he is never able to "pick up the phone", or avoids my call or continues with excuse after excuse. I have been nothing but respectful and patient with John. Wow! Best experience ever! Friendly knowledgeable staff that goes up & beyond. There's a reason they've been around for almost 20 years with so many satisfied return customers. We really liked the owner, he's a perfectionist & super nice. He takes so much pride in his business & it's paying off. They installed a blue ox tow hitch to our Jeep, and explained a lot to us. The owner owns an RV as well, & gave us so many useful tips. Highly recommend! Met three customers in the lobby who are rerun customers for like 15 years. Said they wouldn't trust anyone else. Terrible experience My 2007 chevy uplander van that had over 63k miles on it had an issue with the flex pipe exhaust system as it made a lot of loud noise. I had my catalytic converter on my car before they fixed my car at this place. Me and my wife saw that the old pipe was removed and there was a new welded pipe in its place. They removed catalytic converter without telling us at the time, we didn't know. After that the engine check light was on and there was the same problem again but they fixed it and it still had problems even after the 2nd fix. We took my car to another shop to inspect the exhaust system and we found out that old fashioned removed our catalytic converter without telling us. I went to John to complain about removing my part without telling us . I asked John to give me the original part. He said he ordered the part but after a while changed his mind and didn't give us the part. Their job was very unprofessional and goes to show that when a problem occurs he doesn't care about his customers damaged car. Worst experience ever read more

My tire has been slowly leaking for several weeks. I refill it and within weeks it's low again. I've been out of work during the pandemic with unemployment funds delayed due to the overwhelmed system. I saw an opportunity to have the tire fixed to be ready when my job reopens. I put on my mask and followed a neighbor's recommendation and went to Old Fashioned. I was greeted politely and advised of a short wait time of 20 minutes. John the man behind the whole operation has been a great friend for the past five years since moving to Florida. Just about the only honest mechanic and mechanic shop in the state that won't try and say you need to replace the oil pan and filter every time you bring your car in. My girlfriend feels safe going there and doesn't feel like someone will take advantage of her because she is unknowledgeable about vehicles. Took my car to a transmission shop and was told they could install a used one for a reasonable price. After sitting there for a month they said it needed a rebuild costing $1,700. The car is barely worth that much and I wasn't convinced the problem was that serious so I told them to forget it. A few months later the car suddenly began to misfire so bad it barely made it to Old Fashioned without being towed. John the service manager called me the next morning to say he replace the spark plugs and a cracked coil tower and the transmission no longer slam shifted. These people are liars, cheats, and scammers. I took my car in because it was driving weird. John told me it might be the catalytic converter but wasn't sure. I found that strange because i was told they had a scanner where the code would tell them the problem. But hey they're the experts so i gave them more time. After i call for an update I'm told it's definitely the catalytic converter and that the front and rear needed to be replaced because they are melted together and the parts alone would cost $2,500. I was devasted and considering just junking my car at that point. I have a 2003 ibmw with over 273,000 miles. I decided to call a couple other places to get price quotes from them before making any final decisions. The first place i called asked where my car was. When i told him old fashion auto and described the issues with my car, he told me to bring it to him because he doubts it's the catalytic converter and old fashion auto is known to scam people. I did. He plugged it in, checked my car out thoroughly and told me there is absolutely nothing wrong with the catalytic converter. All i need is a tune up, coils changed, air filter changed. My car runs smoothly now. I called to confront John, he basically threatened me and hung up the phone on me. I would have given them no stars but it made me pick one. read more

Chrysler dealer quoted $800 to replace the engine mounts on my 2007 Pacifica. These folks replaced them for just over $300. I've had them do other work and the prices were fair and work was professionally done. Very honest people. read more

Update. It's been awhile since I last commented on Old Fashioned Auto's and this is just to say nothing has changed, my car still goes there for service and I still am very impressed at the way they do business. This is one impressive auto shop. And no, I still don't work for them! read more
