I ordered 5 trays of pierogies to be delivered to SC since I cannot find Farmers Cheese (not sweet) pierogies anywhere here. First, the customer service for the Pierogi Queen is top notch. They seem like a caring and pleasant group of people. The pierogies are amazing. The Farmers Cheese reminded me of the ones my grandmother used to make, and the ones that I would buy from the market back in Buffalo. I will be ordering more from them in the near future. read more

The only time I've ever had something from this Polish Deli is when they've got a booth set up at the Taste of Enfield for the town's 4th of July celebrations. Thankfully, I was able to rectify that situation a couple weeks ago, when hubby came home from work early and decided we should stop in for lunch. We shared: Pierogi of the Day (6): $3.99 Golabki (2): $3.99 Polish Platter: $7.99 Strawberry and Cheese Babka: $6.99 Their pierogi of the day happened to be sauerkraut and mushroom, it was ok by itself, but much better dipped into the sauce that came with the golabki. I much preferred the potato and cheese that came w/ the Polish Platter. All and all though, I enjoyed my meal, and I'll be back for another Polish Platter soon! read more

I've been meaning to write a review for this spot almost a year ago when I first moved to Enfield. First off it's a modern crime that when you google "best sandwiches in CT" this spot is nowhere to be found. Because the sandwiches at this polish themed deli are not only extremely well priced, they are also extremely delicious. They also have fantastic items such as golabki and perogis! The spot is very homey and the staff is so helpful and kind. They also offer catering and some fun polish style groceries. I can't suggest this spot enough, it's a diamond in the ruff. Enfield is full of spots like Subway and McDonald's but don't waste your time or money. The deli is the real deal. read more

Fantastic polish and BBQ. I was in town for a funeral and my friends provided a catering order to hep us out. They bought us BBQ and polish meals with kielbasa, pierogies, sauerkraut, and golumpkis. All of the polish food was excellent. We also had some BBQ - pulled pork, burnt ends, and mac and cheese. All of it was very good BBQ. Next time I visit family in town, I would be excited to stop by and get more polish and BBQ! read more

Best Pastrami I've ever had. I pulled off 91 in search of a sandwich. I found this little deli, tucked in a quiet residential neighborhood, thanks to yelp. You feel like you're stepping back into time and the decor isn't much to write home about. But, OMG the food!! I got a huge pastrami sandwich for less then $7.50. The meat was fantastic! Rich smokiness, tender and flavorful. They smoke all their own deli meats, bacon and kielbasa. There's also a small selection of polish groceries. Friendly staff too. Wanted to take a minute and thank the wonderful staff and cook at Old Country Banquet for doing such a great job with my fathers retirement party. The facility was perfect for the 40 guests that we had (it could have handled more). It being BYOB worked out very well as we were able to bring in some beer and wine and serve ourselves from the bar. Ice and glasses were provided. The food was on time and excellent. All the guests raved about the pierogis, kielbasa, wings, meatballs, and chicken francaise. As the planner of the event it was nice that they were able to take care of the food and the facility. They were very flexible with timing and allowed us to stay around pretty late. I would absolutely recommend Old Country Banquet for your next event, they did a great job taking care of us. read more

Disappointing. As an enthusiastic fan of good Polish food I was expecting to enjoy the combination platter of kielbasa, pierogies, stuffed cabbage and sauerkraut given the reviews of this deli. This place should be separated into two different businesses. There is a catering and banquet service and a deli all under the same name. It's kind of confusing. This review is for the deli. Stopped in for lunch to go on a Saturday afternoon. It's on the corner of Alden Street and some other shitty street in the worst section of Enfield. The place is small with a couples booths, frozen and fresh items, and other Imported Polish products that look like they've sat around for awhile. I ordered a pulled pork grinder, pan fried pierogis, and sifted through the chips to find one bag that was still in date. I also grabbed two packages of Pierogi Queen pierogis, one sauerkraut, and one cheddar and potato to take home. Service was slow, and I waited for awhile for what should of took like five minutes. The girl behind the counter had an attitude, like she was pissed I ordered stuff, but in the end was overcome by my irresistible charm, and then became nice. The place is weird. Is it a smokehouse, a Polish deli, a bbq joint, a Polish store? Pulled pork and pierogis? Who knew. I assume "Old Country" means Poland, but where's the smokehouse? I didn't see or smell a smoker. Anyways, Both the grinder and pierogis were actually pretty good. The best part was the Pierogi Queen pierogis that I pan fried the next day. They were the best pierogis I've had, and I guess this deli is the official store that sells them. I'd go back to get some pierogis to go, but I don't know if I'd eat here again. After driving past the "pierogi queen" sign for weeks, I finally stopped in. My mother was visiting from out of state and she had wanted to try the pierogi for ages--we managed to get in about 15 minutes before closing, but the woman at the counter was incredibly friendly even though we were cutting it so close. We picked up some frozen potato & onion and some beef pierogi (only available in this deli apparently!) and they were great! I read that they're all made in-house and sold in local grocery stores too. I'll definitely stop in for hot food sometime. read more

I had the food at the taste of Enfield for the 4th of July festivities it was fresh and delicious.. I went during a regular week twice from the location on Alden Street and ordered the Polish dinner and both times it tasted like the kielbasa was microwaved. So I don't recommend getting takeout.. Just by the products and cook them at home or wait for the taste of Enfield. This is my honest experience and opinion read more

I photographed a wedding here, so it was a unique experience compared to most. The location is odd, and no private lot that I could find, but free parking all around. The layout of the place is fairly good -- open and airy, lots of mirrors, high ceilings. It's a bit dated in its decor, for sure. My biggest complaint? The food. Oh my god. Probably the worst meal I've ever had. It was like they didn't try at all. Flavorless, dry chicken... unseasoned, steamed vegetables... steamed potatoes that had the texture of clay... and I swear, there were hot dog buns in the basket of dinner rolls. Yikes. read more

Do not do your party here. It all starts off great with a couple showing you the place and showing you the packages. But once they aren't taking care of you and they switch you to the event planner it all goes down hill. Claudia is not only rude but also a liar. She takes days and sometimes weeks to get back to you if she gets back to you at all. She set things up for us to decorate the day before and once people starting showing up to decorate she changed her mind. She then called the owner and he said if we pay an extra 600 we can decorate before we said no. So she calls him again and he says 200 we said no again since she had accepted us doing this beforehand with no added cost. Multiple people took time off work to do this but neither one cared. So we get kicked out from doing any decorations on Friday and have to come back the next day from an hour away to do them. Ashley the head waitress was a great help the day of but of course the coordinator was no where to be found. 2 days later someone forgot a couple of items at the venue and went back for them and she wouldn't let them in and told them to leave. Very rude coordinator and owner who only cares about money and not his workers word to us. Do not do your event here stay away. read more

This was a beautiful place for a wedding! Gorgeous venue. Old and classic. Amazing chandelier. Huge windows. Free parking around the area, since no parking at the venue. However, what makes it a two-star, was the food. The family chose the cheapest option. Worst food ever! Dry chicken & soggy tasteless red meat. Imitation potatoes! Vegetable medley (square carrots, peas, green beans) that were cooked into submission. Translucent lettuce for salad. So gross. Gack!! read more
