More of the delicatessen and menu

Stepping into this Polish delicatessen for lunch was nothing short of like going to my mother's house. She is 100% Polish. Greeted warmly, I placed my order for a Polish plate, consisting of Golobki (stuffed cabbage) a generous serving of kielbasa with sauerkraut, and three pierogi. Rye bread was served on the side. I also got a green tea to wash it all down with. All this was around $15 plus the tip. Let me tell you, the reason why I said it was like going to my mother's house was this place is culture at its finest for the Polish heritage I absolutely loved the Kielbasa and sauerkraut, and the pierogi were out of this world and you could tell they were homemade with love. The Golobki was good. If I said it was better than my mother's, there would be hell to pay! Serving containers of spicy mustard for the kielbasa, sour cream for the pierogi, and a beautiful horseradish sauce was for whatever your pleasure. This had a kick and it was amazing. The restaurant is super clean, and decorated with lots of thought. I loved the menu. I thought the many choices were to be ordered on the future times I frequent this place Now I see all the rave this place has, and this could be a regular stop. Thanks again Belvedere of East Windsor for your gracious service and delicious food. You are well deserving of the five stars. Until next time!

Belvedere Polish Delicatessen in East Windsor, CT

"Polish Texan BBQ Fusion" -- OMG, I love this place !! The quality of food backs up the unique concept of this establishment, this delicatessen is awesome in my book. I stop in every time I'm in the area, and I always leave with a full & satisfied tummy. The Q is on the same level that I consumed while living down South, and certainly better than almost all the "BBQ joints" in the State of Connecticut. Meats are always fresh & tender, and flavorful. Polish selections are on the mark, it's the Real Deal folks. Can't really say much more about Belvedere of East Windsor, other than I look forward to my next visit there. This deli is a Winner, an Easy 5 Star Rating.

Brisket and Mac and cheese

The food is delicious. It's a hidden gem for sure. The prices are reasonable and quality of their food is great. Worth every dollar.

----- aka "Smoke BBQ Cafe" ----- What!?! Brisket & Polish food served at the same place? Tucked away in a plaza in East Windsor, we found this small "Polish Texan BBQ Fusion" spot. W O W!! We loved it!! I felt at home the minute we walked in. Not only a takeout restaurant with about 5 or 6 tables, but a good place to pick up some authentic Polish food items. Alison, the manager, was so friendly & helpful! We told her what we wanted to try and she helped us choose the right combo meals. The brisket was moist, tender & flavorful - I used only a little bbq sauce. But you have to try the brisket with their creamy homemade horseradish!! You're welcome. And I couldn't get enough of the Kapusta, it was so tasty! (House-made sauerkraut flavored with bacon, spices and maybe a tomato base?) My tastebuds were dancing! The smoked kielbasa (house-made) was tender and juicy. The pierogi were stuffed with a creamy potato mixture. Golabki was good, too. Don't miss out -- try this place TODAY!!

Wow! What a discovery so close to home. Authentic and delicious. Forget the Chinese takeout or pizza folks - go Polish. I will be.

Love this spot. The hot foods area has all of the traditional goodies - pierogi, golabki, kielbasa, soups as well as sandwiches and all day breakfast. If you're in the mood for food to make later, there's a wall of frozen pierogi, savory and sweet, and stews. I love the bigos ( hunters stew ) and cheeseburger hot pepper pierogi - so cravable. Large area of groceries including candies coffee, beer, bread, homemade and packaged desserts, condiments with a plethora of mustards and other tasty treats. I splurged today and got 2 massive and delicious apple and cherry turnovers that were perfectly flaky. I always have to rein myself in and not take the whole store home. You might have the same experience when you stop in.

Holy pirogi! It had been three years since I was in the area of the Belvedere Polish Deli. It was still there and was still serving up great Polish food. If you want something different and delicious this is the place for you. I'll be swinging back to pick up a load of Polish treats and their famous pastries to take back to Vermont with me

Attention New Britain! There is a Polish presence North of Hartford too, and they can boast of a damned cool place in East Windsor by the name of the Belvedere Polish Delicatessen. Where do I start? How about the huge freezer case with bag after bag of Pierogies. They only sell 19 different kinds. How about the aisle after aisle of everything Polish known to man. Polish groceries, beer, magazines, medicines, etc. How about the deli that sells breakfasts, soups, sandwiches, and meals heavy on the Polish stuff like kielbasa and golumpkis, plus sandwiches, and of course the pierogies. For lunch today I had a cup of the cabbage soup ($2.59) that was terrific- loaded with cabbage of course, but I didn't expect the plentiful amounts of ground meat and diced kielbasa. It was thick and flavorful and delicious. I also had a # 8 Sandwich, the Poniatowski's Rebellion- thick with Ham & turkey breast, cheese, lettuce, dill pickle, mayo & honey mustard on roll for $5.49 , plus a bag of chips ! The food was great, the service was friendly and charming, the store is very entertaining to walk through and browse the Polish goods and Polish newspapers and magazines. A great way to spend a lunch hour. Yay! I'm a fan.

News Flash: For travelers North or South bound on Interstate 91 (Exit 45) or anyone Local to the area, Belvedere Polish Delicatessen is a stop worth it's while. Tucked away in the back corner of Sofia's Shopping Plaza is the charming Deli and "Mini-Grocerette" European style. The ladies behind the counter are full of charm and very accommodating. I've been here a number of times for a fresh deli sandwich and other occasions a warm plate of Kielbasa, Kraut, Pierogi, and a cold Polish brew from the cooler. You can eat-in at one of their small dining tables or take-out. I recommend dining in because the desserts are outstanding and you might want seconds. Other stops have included: Fresh Breads, Deli Meats, Sausages, Cheeses, Desserts, and Grocerette Sides to Ooo & Ahh guests.

Yummy Blueberry Pierogi $7.50

I never had a babcia but my sweet neighbor when I was young would bring over the best homemade Blueberry pierogi. When I walked into the Belvedere Polish Delicatessen it smelled yummy, just like Mrs Tolpas home from when I was little. There is a frozen section with an array of frozen pierogi and soup, delicious meats, hot meals, pastry. A few aisles of unique Polish goods and a few tables to sit at. Friendly service. The pierogi were yummy. I will definitely return.

kapuśniak, cabbage soup. Outanding!

Great little Polish Deli which serves up lunch and dinner specials each day. Homemade soups, traditional Polish items such as pierogies of all descriptions, stuffed cabbage, sauerkraut, potato pancakes and a variety of deli sandwiches on good Eastern European style bread. Service can be a little slow when busy but always worth the wait. My personal favorites are the homemade soups each day; especially when the weather is cold they truly hit the spot.

Heading home from a weekend in the Berkshires, we were think about lunch when I remembered this…read morespot which I had read about & made a point to keep it in mind for when I found myself in the area. My husband, who's grandmother immigrated from Poland, grew on this fare & he rarely gets to eat it now. So, he was thrilled! We easily found parking very close and, as it was a bit early in the lunch hour, found the place mostly empty. It was a cute, clean little cafe with several small tables to eat in. While we were there, the Monday lunch crowd quickly followed with dining & take-out orders. We ordered at the counter ( oddly, still protected by a huge plexiglass barrier ). The young lady was very helpful & knowledgeable with our menu questions. We ordered, paid and found ourselves a seat. When presented with the credit card payment, I noticed the gratuity pre-sets were at full-service levels & tipped as such. However, when we later realized that we picked up our own food & bussed our our table, we decided that we should have tipped for counter service. The food was spot on! Since i eat mostly vegetarian, I always find this type of cuisine challenging. But, a large list of house-made pierogis gave many options. I settled on a plate of six potato & cheddar with onion & sour cream. Since the kapusta here had no meat, I tried a side of that as well. The pierogis were perfect! Tender dough, flavorful filling - fantastic. The kapusta, a house made cabbage based kraut, was delicious as well & very filling! Half came home with me for another delicious meal. My husband, on the other hand, went all out with the PP - Polish Plate. He was thrilled to be able to mix & match the four pierogi, ordering three savory & one blueberry ( something his grandmother made which he's raved about for ever ). Like me, he found the pierogi perfect. He also enjoyed the kielbasa - very flavorful. The golabek ( what he calls golumpki ) had more rice than he prefers, but he wrote that off as personal choice and said it was very tasty & juicy. All in all, this was a good lunch stop & we'd return when in the area. Next time we'll be coming home with some of those delicious pierogi!

We had a "special" of beef stroganoff and also a chef's salad. The strognaoff was good not great. The chef's salad was very nice. Prices are favorable in comparison to other nearby establishments. "How could I be happy Without her by my side…read moreWithout her smiling face At the sunrise?" (Chicago) Located in the Farmington Exchange building, Sunrise took over the space previously occupied by the Hans and Fritz Deli. They've only been open a few months. Their hours are limited to 8-3 during the five weekdays, and they have a pretty deep and decidedly reasonably priced breakfast and lunch menu with eggs, omelets, French toast, pancakes, crepes, breakfast sandwiches, burgers, dogs, and deli sandwiches. But there's an unexpected twist to their menu - Polish foods like pierogi, golabki (stuffed cabbage), potato pancakes, kielbasa, and hunter's stew. Everything is made from scratch at the time of your order, so don't expect a cafeteria line of pre-wrapped BEC sandwiches, a mound of home fries getting hard and crusty on the flat top, or a "Grab and Go" experience, because your food will take an appropriate time to cook. It's a family-owned brother and sister business, and the young lady that waited on us and cooked our food was wonderful -very engaging and sociable with great customer experience skills and a skilled touch in the kitchen. We ordered a vegetable omelet, a side of kielbasa, a Ham, Egg and Cheese sandwich, and two coffees. We ate at one of the many small tables in the center courtyard. We also bought an order of potato pancakes to go. You order and pay at the counter and pick up your food at the same counter after it gets cooked. My omelet was very good -three eggs with onions, peppers, mushrooms, and tomatoes served with home fries and toast. What impressed me was the large amount of sauteed veggies in there. The side of kielbasa was split down the middle and then cross-hatched, so it had plenty of grilled edges. We expected the potato pancakes to take a while, and we were right, they were finished cooking while we were halfway through our breakfast. As I said, they were cooked from scratch, so the potatoes and onions first had to be shredded to start our order. We'll have them for dinner tonight, and frankly I can't wait. The order was three humongous patties fried to a golden brown served with containers of applesauce and sour cream. I'm begging anyone in the area to get out to Farmington before 3:00 on Monday to Friday and support these hard-working folks. Your food and your overall experience will be five stars too.

This business has had a lot of publicity in the local press, so we *had* to try it, even though…read moretheir license is only beer and wine. (I'm a lush, if you've not read the rest of our writing on Yelp.) We're always looking for a new place to have a bite -- and several drinks. This place soft-opened a few weeks ago, and is now officially open. One must enter through the front door of Pol-Mart, a good delicatessen and Polish specialty store (I prefer Zieliniak, down the street, but I'll forgive the Pol-Mart people, because they're creative.) Apparently the space upstairs used to be a dusty gift shop. It's a lovely little cafe with a baby grand piano, a stage, and some ambitious lighting effects. They currently offer live entertainment on only Fridays - but have plans for more. The decor is very Old Country, but handsome and clean. The appointments (glassware, cutlery) are of high quality. We love that - we love a professional restaurant that doesn't cut corners. There's a great beer selection - not vast, but good. Wines are limited and cheap, but not very good, but a good value. I bought a glass, then a bottle, of the serviceable Riesling from Zum, in Germany. Best Buddy had his usual Bud Light. We're delighted they have domestics for him, because there are too many places in town (craft breweries, Polish restaurants) which offer only hops-heavy brews. These folks have you covered. The menu is a delight! There are two different cold-cut platters, either for one ($7-$9) or for two ($10-$12), with bread and pickles to accompany. A "French" platter contained only cheeses. It's all gotta be good because they source all the charcuterie from the deli downstairs! A modest offering of the most popular Polish foods appears on the menu (Pierogies, savory and sweet; stuffed cabbage, and the like -- and salads, by themselves or with a grilled chicken breast or a piece of salmon). We didn't try that -- we opted instead for hamburgers. The waitress, who was delightful, actually asked "why are you coming to a Polish restaurant for *hamburgers?*" I told her that our starting-out place on Broad Street in Little Poland, the Belvedere, had begun to close every Wednesday. I left the new People's Bank, and expected to go across the street to have a Scotch or three -- and then recalled that the bartender had lamented that the ownership decided to take a day off on Wednesdays. So this brought us to this little cafe. (I missed the Scotch, but it's okay). Soft music played in the background, and out the window one could view the enormous cathedral that graces the middle of Broad Street. The whole deal, three beers, a glass and a bottle of wine and two very nice burgers was only $50. It was an off-peak time, so I had to get up to summon our server twice, but she was very, very nice and very professional. She encouraged us to visit on a Friday night when they have the live music. Go here - it's a great place, trying hard, and needs to establish itself. There aren't enough places in New Britain to get a drink at lunch, and that's another (selfish) reason why we love the place.
