Flew up here to visit family and chose to come to the Old Chicago. I've been here a couple of times and would highly recommend giving it a try to anyone visiting Sioux City, Iowa. The Guinness is what makes me want to come back for more, I just love it. Last time I got a burger with an egg, this time I tried a couple of new things. The bacon cheeseburger rolls I had for an appetizer. They were better than expected, but can fill you up almost right away. I give them a 9/10. Spaghetti pie was the main dish. Personally speaking, it was surprisingly complex and was not what I expected . You can add meatballs to it, can between red sauce/Alfredo sauce or both, and also tasted like it had eggs, potatoes, pasta, and bread. Like I said, complex. Service was friendly and helpful. The food was very good . We had the meat pizza. Loved the crust and toppings.

We were seated and greeted by our server quickly. Our server treated us with a smile and was very friendly. Which was refreshing. We ordered a deep dish half pep and half cheese and a thin 7. We also ordered a side salad which was promptly brought out. The ranch was tasty and the salad was a mix of iceberg and fancier greens. Garnished with cucumber and tomato with croutons. Overall a very nice side salad. The pizzas came out and we immediately questioned if the deep dish was actually "deep". It looked similar to the thin. It was in fact about a 1/2 in thick. So I would say it was "semi-deep". Our thin was delicious on the outer edge but the inner part was definitely floppy, thin and soggy, maybe due to the toppings. We questioned if it was undercooked. Also you could tell the meat on the 7 was a prepackaged type meat like you would get on a Pizza Hut pizza. Not what you would expect from a sit down restaurant. We are not sure the almost 70$ price tag fit the bill. So the pizza was a 2 star meal and the server was definitely 5 stars. So bummed to write this review. We have been going to the Old Chicago for years. Today my daughter and I went in for an early dinner. We know what we want so we don't look at the menu. Waitress comes over and takes our order. Wings for me, pesto Alfredo for my daughter. I ask if I can get flats only, she looks annoyed and says she doesn't think so but she'll see what she can do. I also ask for the sauce on the side as I don't like my wings drenched. She says there is an additional charge to put it on the side. In maybe 10years this is a first for me. I then ask if she can have the cooks not make the pesto so runny as I've come to realize that they're pretty good about doing it thicker. Again she's annoyed and rolls her eyes at us. Food comes out and she just drops the plates on the tables and one of my wings falls off the plate ‍ She never comes back to check if we need anything. Drops off the check and doesn't say a word. Now i usually tip 20%, more for exceptional service. I still tipped...minus the sauce upcharge of course Thank you Angela for the terrible service. Old Chicago lost a long time loyal customer today. My wife and I had a late date night there. We have been there several times. We enjoy several different items on their menu. We had half loaded meat and half Supreme. Our waitress was excellent, the only thing that could make it better is if their rewards were lasted longer than just a month. read more

Nice super cold beer. Nice super dog friendly patio (cold bowl of water and dog beer by the can should we want it). We tried the Italian nachos and they were tasty. Not the best choice for us right after a race - the nachos are very rich and we should have stuck to a simple pizza or burger. Lesson learned. This place is terrible I called in a pick up for 6pm and when I got there and told a girl I had a pizza ready at 6 she said she was going to look for and 10 minutes later did not come back. In between time a man came placed an order to go. I went up again and asked about my pizza and the person at the counter said that a mistake was made and the pizza was only put in at 6. I sat back down and waited for awhile and then went up and asked how long he said 20minutes I will put a rush on it I said ok I will be back in about 20 minutes and can back in about 15 minutes and the person that came in after me got his pizza so I said what about my pizza ?!! So two of them went back and came out laughing that the pizza was not made yet!!! One of them asked do you want to talk to the manager I said yes. A man came out with an attitude towards me!!! He said he was the owner and he then said that placing orders for future pick ups was not allowed so I started to say I was not told this when he interrupted me and said I'm the owner and you will not talk like this in my establishment. I then said I don't care if you are the owner I was not told this when I placed the order and also someone came in after I stated I was there for my pizza and placed an order to go and got his order before me. He again stated this is why we don't allow future pick ups so I said so I think I should get my pizza comped and was told no!!!! I then asked how long and the owner threw his hands in the air and said I don't know we are busy! I then said forget it and I will not be coming back here again. I came here on a Saturday night with friends and there was no wait to be seated. The environment was very lively and kind of had a bar feeling to it. A lot of people come to watch the football game on one of their multiple television screens so there was definitely a good energy/good vibes in the air. I got the Chicago 7 calzone. It was yummy and very cheesy. It comes with the tomato sauce on the side which I really liked so you can dip the crust in it if you like. Although it was yummy and a good portion size, it tasted just like your average calzone. It kind of tasted like a frozen one from the grocery store which was just heat it up in the oven. It wasn't anything better than average. My friend got the cheeseburger and said it was probably the most bland burger he's ever had. But he also did get the berry shandy beer and that was very good. This particular location was much smaller than a typical old chicago, we liked the layout and open feel. There were lots of beers and TVs, the staff was adequate and the food was what we expected. Our group ordered a bunch of kids meals and some pizzas. There was a Facebook promo for national pizza day that got us 2 for 1 pizzas if we mentioned the ad. Pros: Very good pizza! Very nice selection of beer! Very nice atmosphere. Unlike a Buffalo Wild Wings, the ambient noise isn't overly loud, so you can actually enjoy the company at the table and hear the game. Cons: A bit on the $$$ side. Not a huge deal, but I feel like a deep dish Large pizza shouldn't be more than $15-17. Edit: removed another star because they do not do take-out pizza. What pizza place doesn't do carry out?? Ridiculous. Also had some bad service the other night. Waited 45 mins for two personal size 8" cheese pizzas. The server only remembered to check on them after another server looked at us and reminded her. 5 stars for the food. The garlic cheese bread was delicious. Although the website shows 6 slices in the photo, it did only come with 4. The pizza was amazing. The best pizza I've had since I moved to the midwest. This is a pan-style pizza, not exactly a Chicago-style deep dish. It is a VERY good pan pizza though. Perfect pan crust, soft inside, yet crisp and buttery on the bottom. The sauce is good too, which is a rare thing to find in the midwest. The thin crust pizza was not as good as the thick crust. The sauce on the thin crust is sweet and I did not care for it. Also does not reheat as well as the thick. The only reason I took a star off was for the atmosphere. It is a surprisingly small restaurant, so it was pretty crowded and very very loud. They have a bar at the front, and several TVs which were unfortunately all playing sports. If you want to come here to have an actual conversation with your date, you won't be able to because of the noise. If you want to go somewhere for great food and drinks and to watch sports with your friends you will love it here. My husband and I frequent the place. We mostly come a lot so he can work on his beer tour; I come because they have gluten-free options! I love it. I'm gluten intolerant so I try to avoid it as much as possible. Pizza is one of my FAVORITE foods and they have a gluten free 10in pizza that is just perfect. Plus they have cider beers and gluten free beers that don't taste like butt. I gave it a 4 star because sometimes when we sit at a table, our service is bad, but at the bar we never have an issue. Old Chicago was awesome! I ordered a build your own pizza with the Chicago crust and a Mediterranean veggie side salad. The pizza crust was perfect (and that's coming from a New York City girl!) the veggies in the salad were fresh and flavorful. The service was quick and efficient. I was in an out in under 30 minutes, but by no means was hurried out of my booth. Shout out to my server Steve for making dinner for one a fun experience! The gluten-free pizza was made to order and really quite good. Our waitress was very nice and helpful, that is when she bothered to show up at our table. Had a bit of a rocky start. Food and service wasn't the best. I was disappointed as I had wished for an OC for ages since moving back to SC. That being said... over the time since it's been open the staff have settled in. The service has gotten much better and the food is excellent. I am once again excited to have an OC. As a member of the World Beer Tour I often see various perks in OC bucks and our promotional discounts. The beer selection is always amazing and expansive. The food is great and they do offer great new rotational items as well. Catch the happy hour between 5-6 and get half price pints and appetizers. If you're a later patron you can get pub pizzas after 9 or 10p. They're great and reasonably priced. Will also pair well with any beer. Keep up the good work! read more

Old Chicago feels almost like a slight upgrade from a bar, where you come for the beer and get some wings, nachos, or pizza to wash down with it as you watch the game. The menu is large enough to accommodate a diner who isn't looking for a beer, but I suspect this place will appeal the most to those who have an interest in checking what's on tap. Their lunch menu has some pretty good deals, with a small assortment of sandwiches, salads, and individual pizzas. I didn't expect super authentic and high quality Chicago-style pizza by any means (although I certainly could dream), but it's just a standard pan pizza, with crust that has a similar texture to Pizza Hut. I have no idea why they even wave the Chicago name around when their pie doesn't taste as if it takes even a hint of inspiration from the Windy City's deep dish. It's an okay pizza for what it is, though. I've found the thinner crusts turned out too soggy to hold up their toppings, but otherwise I've liked it just fine. They have a huge assortment of toppings to choose from and some interesting specialties pizzas, which I would say is their strongest point. Old Chicago is a pretty adequate restaurant. I'm not raring to go back, but I wouldn't complain if I found myself here again either. read more

I wish I could give 0 stars... I have no good things to say about this place. The one decent thing was our server - she did nothing wrong, and we don't blame anything on her. We visited on a Monday night, there were about 2 people at the bar and maybe 1 other table when we sat down. It took over an hour for us to get our food - including the chicken wings we ordered as an appetizer because we were all starving. How???? There was NO ONE in the restaurant and they didn't close for over 2 more hours. The bartender was busy flirting with some guy at the end of the bar and when she made our drinks I watched her - I am a bartender and she was just LAZY about everything! She tossed mint into my mojito and put sour mix in it instead of lime and sugar.... you should never do that -_- I ordered the hangover burger, which comes with a fried egg. The egg was legit rubber, I could have thrown it like a frisbee. When we asked, we were told it gets put through the oven.... umm ok, so your kitchen is too lazy to fry an egg like advertised on the menu? Yeah, that's not a hangover burger. The bacon on it was also rubbery and looked to be microwaved, and I ordered it med rare and it came well done. It literally wasn't edible. The rest of the food was also subpar. Lastly, we asked to talk to the manager and politely explained all of this and simply asked to at least have the burger taken off of our bill. She gave us a passive wave and rudely said "yeah, I was already going to give you a discount anyway" and walked away. Umm ok, not even an apology or coming out to say something before we had to ask. Then, we got our checks and there was no discount, so we had to ask AGAIN. She blamed this on the server. THEN we got our checks AGAIN and she discounted ours, but not our friends, so we had to ask for her a third time. We asked why it made sense that we got a discount but they went through the same experience and somehow they didn't? And she blamed it on us, telling us she was going to give them a discount but was more focused on taking care of us. Ummmmm no, this is your job as a manager. You printed out both of our checks, no reason you shouldn't have discounted theirs as well. And then I watched her yell at her server for the mistakes, which AGAIN, none of this was her fault and we made that clear to the manager. Ultimately she finally ended up just comping the whole meal besides the alcohol, which she should have done in the first place. We had to wait about 20 mins between each time she actually did anything, meaning we spent over 2 hours there for an awful experience where the manager literally took no ownership for anything and instead blamed everything on whoever or whatever she could think of. As we were walking out the door, she FINALLY "apologized" and asked if she could offer us coupons for next time. We laughed and said thank you, but we won't be back. read more

I enjoy Old Chicago's food and I do not have any issues with it. I walked through the door at the same time as another couple and we all sat at the bar. When I sat at the bar, I immediately noticed it had not been wiped down anytime recently. I had puddles of water in my area and there were crumbs on the bartop next to me. The couple I walked in at the same time as had their menues, ordered, and their food delivered before I was given a menu(which I had to ask for). When I eventually did recieve my food(Burger and Fries), I also had to ask for napkins and condiments. By this time the bar had still not been wiped down, and an older couple had sat down next to me where the crumbs were still on the bartop. I finished my meal, paid, and left. With half of my drink still in its glass. The food was good, the drink was good. I like Old Chicago. I do not believe I will revisit this location. She insisted it was a 6oz pour....I measure my wine at home, because I am on WW, so I am very aware of how much is in a wine glass. We went for Mother's Day and it was our FIRST time there! We ordered some pork "wings" and a deep dish pizza. My husband instantly fell in love with their pizza and their jerk rub was AMAZING! Our server was nice and attentive. I've notice since moving back to the area, a lot of servers don't come back to check on us nor do they refill our drinks. A new restaurant to Sioux City, Old Chicago (http://www.oldchicago.com/) located in Lakeport Commons is Sioux Cities new hot spot. With a HUGE beer selection (Over 100 different beers) and amazing specials this new restaurant has the customers rolling in! We visited Old Chicago on our last trip to Sioux City, we were told the wait would be 30-40 minutes and we were happily surprised when our buzzer went off in 20 minutes. We started our night off with their beer selection- we tried a German beer, as well as a mixed beer, Blue Moon & Peach Cider. Tom enjoys the strong flavor of German beers and I loved the mixture of Blue Moon and Cider - we were very impressed by the beer selection, it was nice to see a bar or restaurant in Sioux City offering something more than Bud Light. It's about time Sioux City branches out with their beer selection and beer combinations! While I am happy to see a new restaurant in Sioux City offering beer selection and specials I am unsure how they will do over time. The food seemed to be on the high end- Specialty pizza is not a fad in the Mid-West like it is on the East Coast especially with the high prices. $13 for a 8 inch personal pan pizza is very high, and $24 for a 14 inch pizza is going to be hard to sell in Sioux City! While the pizza was good, it was not worth the cost. Service was great and fast, Beer selection was the best part! I will be anxious to see how this keeps up in Sioux City! read more
