Big pretzel should be Gigantic pretzel. I ate about half. Took most of the leftover half back to my hotel. Had some for breakfast, took it on the plane and had some and shared it with the person sitting next to me... and there was STILL some left!! That thing could feed a small country. It was delicious and I loved the Pilsner cheese sauce. The salmon on top of a salad was also very good. And too big to finish. But the fish was fresh and prepared as requested. Another brewery checked off the list!! We stopped here while in town for a concert and it was very nice. Very clean inside and very welcoming. We had the Mahi fish tacos and pretzel bites. Both were excellent. The pretzel bites were some of the best I've had. They have plenty of beers on tap, I had a delicious brown ale that went well with our food. Heck, even my SO who usually doesn't care for beer was sipping on a few brews (I'm looking at you, squeegee). Cooked to perfection. The mac and cheese was good but loses points because it really did not have much chicken in the dish. The flavor was good. My beer was very good. A nice stout with a splash of the blackberry seltzer. Delicious! The points come off for the loud music. Although the 70's-80's genre was perfect easy listening, it was too loud for conversation. My fiance and I came here changed our other dinner plans and came here after seeing the aesthetical place while driving by. Definitely a good call because this place has really a nice vibe and amazing food! We were there on an adventure date challenge where the task was to ask the server for their recommended dishes, and order that. I was actually relieved when the server recommended a salad I liked on their menu. The other recommendations will mostly pizzas but we were not feeling that so my fiance got one of the burgers. I had the Blood Orange Cedar Salmon Salad; Everything went so well together! The little pieces of orange with that blood orange vinaigrette and goat cheese and red onions.. Everything was amazing together. The salmon was also perfectly cooked. The server actually asked me how I would want my salmon cooked and I was quite surprised this was actually a thing. Either way.. well done was the way to go! They really were a lot of candid walnuts on here, by the way! I was surprised by how many! My fiance got the Barnyard burger (beef and bacon patty with bacon and pork shoulder and cheddar cheese); This one was loaded! Actually piled high and looked so indulgent! Quite a big meal here and very heavy in meat so he couldn't finish it all. Really really loved it though! He also got the side salad instead of fries with the apple cider vinaigrette. That vinaigrette was really good! Tasted like a bit of aviation of applesauce and I loved it as well! Fiance also got a beer recommended by the server there. It was the Golden Ale, and he was happy with that as well. We saw all the pizzas coming out and that giant Bavarian pretzel and definitely have this on our list to try next time! read more

The previous reviewers steered us to this brewery, and they were spot on. The beers I tried were very good (Mondo Saaz & Iowa Sunrise). Our son tried the cheeseburger sliders, and the little bite I tried was flavorful. My husband and I ordered a build l your pizza that he picked out. I really enjoyed the brick oven crispy crust, and they added a decent amount of sauce and toppings. The only thing that made me give a 4 star instead of 5 star was the service. I agree with my husband's review in regards to the lack of servers from what it appeared to us. Tables sat dirty while three servers ran around like crazy and the hostess delivered drinks/food, bused tables, and seated people. I've already recommended this place a few times since I visited. In town for business, my colleague and I stopped here before making the long drive home. We shared a pear + prosciutto pizza and spinach artichoke appetizer. The pizza was a star! You can't go wrong with authentic Neapolitan style pizza. It's my fave. We were in town for hockey and visited Marto twice. Once for lunch and one for dinner. On the weekend the menu is the same. The beers were good and the food was as well. We had the chicken quesadillas, beef sliders, Margarita pizza for lunch. For dinner, we had the Bolognese and Crème Brûlée. All were really pretty good. The Bolognese was quite spicy as it had whole Calabrian peppers. I like good bread with a pasta dish and our server never brought out. Place was really busy, so things happen. We stopped here around noon on a Saturday. The place was hopping with the only seats available being at the bar. Turned out that was perfect because we could see everything being made! They use a brick oven for nearly all the entrees/apps. We shared the pretzel bites which were delicious. We also had the bbq beef sandwich with brussel sprouted on the side--amazing! You could definitely taste the smoke on the meat. We tried one cider and one beer which were decent. Waitress was awesome and attentive. The only "negative" is that they didn't have a selection for non-beer drinkers other than one type of cider. Definitely worth the stop! read more

I have been wanting to make it to Marto for a long time, and the stars finally aligned! Located in a downtown area, parking is a little weird, but we found a spot in a public lot about a block away. We had a short wait as it was a busy football Saturday. My friend and I both started with ordering flights of 4 beers to try, and we decided on just sharing two appetizers: the chicken bacon quesadilla was a fun take on a quesadilla, made with naan bread rather than a tortilla, was almost like a pressed sandwich. It came with fresh jalapenos and a chipotle dipping sauce. So good! We also had the pretzel bites, which were served with cheese and mustard dipping sauces. We eyed other table's giant pretzels but decided that would be too much for just the two of us. The beer was very good as well! We tried a variety of IPAs, cream ale, a peach pie sour, and the irish stout. Not sure I could pick a favorite, as they were all very good! Service was decent as well, our server checked on us often, but wasn't overly friendly and seemed in a bit of a rush to get us our check. Marto Brewing is Sioux City's holy grail--they offer patrons a regularly rotating selection of microbrews that laughs in the face of Midwest mediocrity, a good-sized food menu with options that actually taste as good as they sound, spectacular service, and a warm, inviting ambiance where girl gangs, bro brocades, and families alike can gather. If you're the typical small town Iowa beer drinker (i.e. usual "Lite" domestics with an occasional venture down the watered down pool of IPAs, or ales in general, and/or lagers), you don't want to read this review. However, if you enjoy changing things up a bit and can appreciate a cream ale or sour, then Marto Brewing may be your best option in this sleepy town. The venue has a menu of taps, some of which are permanent staples, and some that rotate/change. My favorites are generally the American Girl and the Squishee--these smoothie style sours will change by the keg, but they are always sooooo good! For food, you can never go wrong with: a giant Bavarian pretzel complete with delicious beer cheese, sausage board with amazing bacon jam, and a hot soppressata and honey pizza. They've also got an amazing burger if you're trying to keep things simple! Honestly, you can't go wrong with any of the food at Marto--and even if you're not a huge fan of what you ordered, you can just drink beer until you do like the food!!! (Brilliant, right??) Truthfully, I no longer live near Sioux City, but if I had to come back to this town, I'd make a beeline for Marto Brewing. I can't believe it took me this long to finally get to this place! I've been meaning to for forever and I'm kicking myself for not going sooner! Husband and I went on a Sunday morning (11:00am) specifically for the bloody Mary's and the Sunday brunch menu. I think they sometimes do a buffet, but we're in the time of Covid right now, so no buffets. We sat at the bar; a host will seat you. I got the coffee (for $4 you get a French press...it's amazing) and my husband got a bloody. It was HUGE! Glad, because it was $10. I attached a picture of both drinks. I got the biscuits & gravy. Amazing. Husband got a sausage/potato/egg skillet. Amazing. He did mention hash browns would be better than the small chunk-style potato, but he ate every bite. Bathrooms = great. Parking = terrible. Atmosphere = awesome. (Kinda hipster-y.) Prices are a little more than you'd think, but not crazy. They brew and sell their own beer. You can buy growlers to-go. I started with the Pastry vanilla, hazelnut beer - so, so good!! Next, we tried the Bavarian Pretzel because it's always a favorite of ours and this was easily the best one we've ever had. Soft with a crunchy crust, 2 cheese sides and a German mustard and enough salt to keep us licking our fingers!! Moving on, my husband ordered the Street Heat wings. Pretty darn spicy! But yummy!! Oh, so yummy! Are you kidding? Of course I tried them!! I ordered the brisket burger with bacon jam, pickled o ions and arugula. I always order mine still mooing and they accommodated my carnivorous habit! The ONLY downside was the bun was room temp and not toasted as burger buns should ALWAYS be, or else it is just too big of bread for a fantastic burger - which this absolutely was! Sorry, no pic, I was hungry!! We also ordered a piece of salmon cooked for my service dog and our waiter was only too happy to indulge him, even though my pup seemed afraid of him. He was one of the kindest and most attentive waiters we've had on this trip! Last but NEVER least, I ordered the luscious chocolate pie with toasted marshmallow topping. INCREDIBLE!! My Lord, I will pray for this to enter my life again! My husband ordered the Red Velvet cake and it was pretty good, too! But really? WHO can pass on a graham cracker crust, almost chocolate mousse inside and a topping of TOASTED marshmallow!
