The breakfast was the standard "breakfast included" faire with scrambled eggs, sausage, and waffle batter / makers, but they also provided fresh sliced fruit and the juices were presented in iced carafes instead of juice dispensers and we dined in a beautiful room overlooking the snow covered golf course on cloth table cloths, with cloth napkins and stemmed juice glasses. To our delight and surprise, the heated, indoor pool was clean and well kept, and had a lovely, functioning sauna, and a large whirlpool with adjacent bathrooms that were all exceptionally clean. We will definitely stop here again on our adventures.

We booked a 2 room suite about 6 months ago. Secured with Credit Card, Wedding rate about $170. Called the day before leaving to confirm. No answer, left call back info. No return call. Called before leaving, no answer, left call back info, no call. Arrived around 4. Told room was not ready, waited about 10 minutes while they confirmed it was ready. Went to room. It was a small double queen. Returned to desk. Was told they could not explain why the reservation was changed, and that no other rooms were available. Asked to speak to the manager, was told they would not be in until Monday or Tuesday. (It was Friday) Tried to book at another hotel, but due to events in the area, nothing available. Moved into room because there were no other options. Was at the desk on Saturday, someone asked if I was the one who had booked a suite. I said yes. She stated she was sorry and said she had taken one night off our stay, still charging the $170/night for a room that was not what we had reserved. No discussion, no conversation about what happened or how this had inconvenienced us (4 adults on 2 small beds), just a printed receipt. Not even an acknowledgement if she was the manager. I took the receipt, and did not have the time or desire to discuss the situation at this point. Posted policy stated the room would have a turn down service unless we put a "Do Not Disturb" sign out, which we did not. No one came and we had to go to the desk later to get fresh towels. Overall, a very negative experience. Small room, not what was reserved. No real apology. Price was too high for what we received. Shower drained slow and had material coming out of drain.Ice maker not working. Room not cleaned or the linens changed. Ruined what was not just supposed to be a wedding weekend, but also a time of relaxing and enjoyment. I hope that other guests did not experience this level of service, although I am aware that other folks had issues too. But that is their business to take up with the resort.

The morning light showed that I was covered in bites. So itchy and uncomfortable!! It was not until later that we discovered it was actually a bed bug instead of tick. If we had known we would have moved rooms or found a different hotel. Be careful if you stay here because chances are you'll be eaten alive by bed bugs!! -UPDATE- After contacting the manager about the situation, I'm even more frustrated with this place. They said because they did not see any bed bugs in the room, that they must not have them. They refuse to refund the room! They refuse to take any responsibility. Shameful. Really upset about this and will continue to update as this unfolds because I'm not letting this go when this 2 night visit has not only traumatized me but caused me enormous financial burden between treating my home, new luggage, a doctors visit, and more!! On arrival, the manager (owner?) checked me in - not friendly, and told me that the dog couldn't go behind the motel. Um, what? That's the whole reason I booked this place - spend some time outside with the dog near a lake; do some swimming. And while I was able to do that, I was banished from hanging out with any of the other guests (pavilion and bonfire area "off limits" to us.) The room was very stinky - mold/mildew and old cigarette smoke smell (I have a very strong sense of smell, so if you don't maybe it would be okay for you.) The shower is barely big enough for me, and I weigh 140lbs at 5'7". The A/C didn't work, so it kept running all night and day no matter how high I set the temp. Fridge also did not keep things cold and ran all the time... so let's just say I didn't get much sleep. The hard bed and super flat pillows didn't help either. Finally, on check out, the owner yelled at me for two reasons. First, because I told him an email from the hotel said that they charged me a deposit and would give it back when they checked the room on check-out. He told me the email did not say that. Well, I went and checked when I got home - it sure does say that. Second, he told me that I broke his stupid rules by going under the pavilion. I told him we went there because it was raining. He told me it was not raining. And while I will agree that I did go under the pavilion and broke his rules - I was perfectly happy to the side of the pavilion because it was away from the ashtrays (ick.) Just was trying to get out of the rain. Additionally, we were completely alone at the motel - so it's not like I was scaring anyone away with my very vicious 40-lb goldendoodle. Yeah, makes a lot of sense to yell at someone over something so trivial and harmless. This guy is simply not friendly and I would never return. The lake view and small beach were nice... but there are other places where customer service and kindness are present.

The staff apologized and said a manager would be contacted and that we would be refunded for the room. I packed up our things right away and checked out early. At checkout, however, I was suddenly told to "watch my email for a discount," despite having just been promised a full refund. Nobody at the front desk could tell me when a manager would actually be available, and as of writing this, I've received no follow-up and no refund. Now I'm at home panic-washing everything, terrified we may have brought bed bugs back with us. This experience was not just disappointing--it was unacceptable. I strongly urge anyone considering a stay here to think twice, especially if management can't be counted on to respond to serious issues like this.
