    Lasagna Bolognese

I went to Olazzo last night for take out and we ordered the mozzarella garlic bread, lasagna bolognese, and the crab and shrimp pasta. Everything was flavorful and it was ready quite quickly. The food was nice and hot when I picked it up. I was surprised how yummy everything was. We paid a little over $70 which I think is a bit much for Italian but it's on par for the area. I would definitely comeback.

Shrimp Pesto (subbed linguine for penne)

Ordered takeout for lunch the other day and thoroughly enjoyed the Shrimp Pesto pasta. The dish exceeded expectations for takeout in all the right ways. The pesto sauce is homemade, was very tasty, and spot-on flavor-wise - it was the perfect level of saltiness and sauciness, and each bite was well thought out and consistent. The penne pasta was cooked perfectly al dente with just the right amount of firmness. The dish came with 5 decently sized shrimp, which were tender and well-integrated into the dish, complementing the pesto. Because there isn't a separate lunch menu, the portion comes as a full dinner size, I ended up saving half and having it later for dinner. Even after reheating, the pasta held its firm texture and did not become soft or mushy despite sitting in the pesto sauce for hours between lunch and dinner. Altogether, this takeout experience makes me want to dine in. I thoroughly enjoyed this meal from first bite to last.

    Fettucine Alfredo w/ Grilled Chicken

After picking a teen up from camp at Imagination Stage, we walked here for dinner. We were told the wait would be about 20 minutes, but in less time than that we were seated. I had the fettuccine Alfredo with grilled chicken and it was excellent. The serving was enough for 2 meals, and the leftovers were just as good the next day. Great place!

Service was slow. Food was just ok. Drinks were fine. Portions were generous. May be a problem if you have kids because most of the seating is bar height.

Had a good lunch here. Nice pasta dishes. We were sitting outside in the sun on the sidewalk. Nice for people watching. We will come back for dinner.

    Chicken Cardinalle

All around, a solid italian restaurant in Bethesda, friendly staff and attentive. Pretty good location with plenty of parking nearby. The patio sitting can be a bit loud, so for the best atmosphere, I would go inside next time Overall the food was great, the ravioli was well made and perfectly cooked and the arancini was delicious. We also ordered the Chicken Cardinalle with the milanese, and the chicken was pretty dry and soggy, which was a shame. Pasta was cooked perfectly, though. All around, everything was tasty, and we will be coming back.

    Ravioli Rose with Sausage Links

This was a rustic looking spot with outdoor seating. The menu had mostly pasta options along with a few salads and one fish dish. The service was okay while the food came out very quickly. They start the meal off with some ciabatta bread. This was served with an oil and vinegar combination. The bread came out warm and the oil/vinegar combination was different, but pleasant. For an entrée, I went with the ravioli rose ($15) with two sausage links ($8). There were five or six large homemade raviolis with multiple cheeses present in a tomato-cream sauce. The ravioli was great as it was light with plenty of cheese filing. I believe it was definitely fresh just based on the texture. The sauce was simple and done right while the sausage was cooked to my liking with plenty of flavor. Will I go back? Definitely.

We ordered cocktails after flagging someone down and everyone enjoyed them. My friend ordered the flatbread app and it was basically bread with some tomato sauce on it. For dinner my hubby and another friend had the veggie ravioli and it was amazing! But there were 6 pieces of it (looked more like gnocchi) and both of them were hungry after eating. My other friend and I got the steak and it was also a small portion and mine had SO many chewy pieces that I had to spit out! I don't expect that at all for a $60 entree! The pieces I had tasted good but I would much rather have had a well cooked, better cut of steak. My other friend had the special pasta with truffle for $70...wow! Again, not a big portion at all and I felt so bad even trying a bite of hers (but I did...nothing special). Dinner was very disappointing as far as portions vs prices go! We ordered 3 desserts and the only one that was great was the almond cake...so good we ordered another one! Overall I was not impressed with this restaurant. There are much better authentic Italian places in the area that don't break the bank. They really should lower their prices, add more options to the menu and change their steak cut. Just my opinion I doubt I'd go here again unless I wasn't very hungry and wanted to spend a lot of $$. All of us went home and ate more since we left hungry.

The walls were an homage of old photos with an eclectic and whimsical feel. Service was excellent. A variety of staff kept checking to see if everything was satisfactory. It was. Our salad was the tomato panzenella special. The ingredients were fresh and the vinaigrette was just right. A complimentary bread basket with olive oil and balsamic vinegar options was available. The glass oil dispenser was coated in oil making it messy to grasp. The bread was not fresh and not exciting. I had the eggplant rollatini. It had a generous flavorful red sauce and the herb ricotta filling added a nice contrast. My only complaint would be how thin the eggplant slices were. More eggplant please. My wife loved her linguini and clams. I couldn't taste it because I have a clam allergy, but she loved it. Someone also got rigatoni and enjoyed it. The generous portions left us too full for dessert. This solid Italian restaurant has good food at a good price and needs to be on your list next time you feel like Italian.

This unassuming restaurant in a rather seedy strip of Rockville Pike exceeds expectations at all levels. The dining room is neutral and simple, relaxing and quiet. The service is fantastic. Honestly, there are not too many professional waiters left in the world but, the ones that remain, all work at Il Pizzico. Service is impeccable. Danny was perfect. The owner, Enzo, is charming and enlightened with his menu. When we mentioned how much we liked ramps (which Enzo had picked himself out in the woods, by the way), he went and got some pickled ramps he made for himself only (not on the menu) so we could taste. Charming. Inspired. Elegant even! My main course was ramp risotto with scallops. OMG great! The risotto was luxurious and complex and filling and surprising - all at once! I hate to throw out the word "perfect" again but this dish was in fact perfect! The rice was perfectly cooked and satisfyingly crispy at its center. Honestly, I got lost in this dish. There were other things in the risotto - onions? Scallops for sure. Green shavings (what the heck was that)? Who cares! The risotto was that good. My dish was so good that it could have been ONLY risotto and I would have loved it! The risotto was so good, in fact, that I ordered creme brulee for dessert and I don't even like creme brulee. I know this doesn't make sense and I know it doesn't paint me in a good light - but it's true. I wanted the outstanding dining experience to continue so I ordered something that I usually overlook in order to keep it going. Ok, so I do not need to say this. BUT I WILL. On top of that, our server was incredibly attentive and friendly throughout the night. Overall, such a lovely dinner and definitely a place we'll be back to again. It was served with the same house marinara sauce as the bread basket. Wouldn't get the charcuterie board again for the price. I ordered the lamb chop and asparagus special. Lamb chops were cooked perfectly. My only qualm was that the fat could have been trimmed more. The asparagus came out burnt! I asked for less char and they provided another side free of charge. The clam linguine was VERY buttery. A good portion of clams with NO sand but the dish had a scary amount of butter at the end. The tiramisu was a lot lighter than what I was expecting. Would have preferred a more intense espresso flavor and cocoa powder on top. There was also an interesting addition of cinnamon or nutmeg (warming spice) that I didn't care for.

Now that I no longer reside in the DC area, I use every visit to eat my faves and occasionally a new spot. So, after another popular (and cheaper) Italian place closed before I could finish my delivery order, I spotted L'Ardente. I ordered the famous Lasagna - their 40-layer specialty - with short rib sugo, truffle mornay, and Sottocenere Cheese. The truffle mornay added a smooth, melty, creamy cheese sauce. It is good, but I am not sure if it is worth the hype at $40 lagnasa. I think the cost is built into the work but not the flavor profile. I think the meal is better without the sauce - it made it too salty with it.
