Focus of this review is on the fish department. Tanks are all dirty. Glass isn't clean algae growth all over. Fish didnt look horrible but nothing really nice here. The discus did look ok. Sad this place is ran by teenagers. read more

Bought some Tetras and had two die. I did everything required on the fish warranty. When I went in they did a water test and seemed to be working very hard to void my warranty and ended up doing so. Great fish selection but do not count on the warranty at all. I think that I will go else where from now on read more

I wish I could give 0 stars. Went in to take a look at the reptiles Olathe petshop has and sad to say but the reptile displays they have are horrible. Most of the reptiles they have look malnourished and very dehydrated. One the the ball pythons the have tried to vomit up it's meal when I said something to the employees they tried to tell me that "that is normal behavior" which it is not I have several ball pythons right now and have my whole life I can tell you right now that is not normal behavior at all. They had a uromastyx that looks like he hadn't been fed or given any water for weeks. Pitiful read more

If I could give 0 stars I absolutely would. I used to always go here for my bunnies food. So I assumed I could go here so my 7 year old son could buy himself a bird WITH a 'setup' as advertised on the bird's glass. But there were no bird setups and all the children working there told me "it's not their fault there isn't any setups for birds". Instead of trying to just make a 'setup' for my son they just told us to "just go buy everything the bird will need". When I asked for a manager or the owner they told me he wasn't there and he would tell me the same thing. The children that work there need to learn how to respect and at least get some training on how to put together 'kits' or 'setups' instead of telling customers it's 'not their fault'. So we went to Petsmart and got much better service and paid WAY less than we would of at Olathe pet shop. Just came home from the Olathe pet shop and I can tell you what a wonderful experience it was! I was looking for a corn snake and strangely enough there were very few to be found here in Olathe. I went into the Olathe pet shop and they had an amazing selection of different color corn snakes and different sizes. A young man named Ethan helped us and he was very friendly knowledgeable and patient as he offered to show me as many snakes as I wanted to see. And the prices beat everybody else in town too! All in all a wonderful experience and I will be back to see them. read more

We had two African Dwarf frogs for over three years. One of them was singing for a mate. We went to this store and bought four frogs. The store said they had them for a couple of months, so we thought they would be ok. The new frogs died after about a week and our three-year-olds shortly after. We called the store several times to try to figure out what the new frogs could have had, so that we knew how to treat them, but they kept insisting that their frogs were fine. When you have a stable aquarium, the greatest fear is introducing new fish that bring some fungus or disease into your environment. You need to buy from stores you can trust to have clean fish and to help, should your environment catch something from their fish. This is not that store. read more

Every time I enter this store to buy things for my chinchilla, I always look at the chinchilla there. It honestly breaks my heart to see the living condition for this animal. Ive been here three times and every single time the dust bath is empty and I always inform the staff yet they do nothing about it. The chinchilla also has no hiding place for him to sleep and is always huddled in a corner. Chinchillas have to have a dark place to hide since they're nocturnal. On top of that the chinchilla cage is not safely set up and has plastic everywhere which is dangerous for a chinchilla since they chew on everything and it can mess up their digestion. All together the setup displays the lack of knowledge of the owners of the store which misleads customers to the specific needs of a chinchillas. read more
