I grew up coming to Olander. Years later, I returned with my kids. It's a nice park, with a decent play structure for little ones. The lake still looks nice. You can rent boats to take out onto the water, and there are public grills available for cookouts. Not a ton to do, and not very big, but Olander gets the job done if you want some outdoor time. read more

Roughly just over 1 mile laps around Orlander Park seemed like a good idea, especially when you're circling for hours on end. A bunch of friends and i came here on Labor Day weekend 2019. Orlander Park is the annual venue for the Orlander 24 hour ultra event, which is basically how much 1 mile-ish laps can you do within a 24 hr window. I was happy to be there doing just that. The park itself was rather semi lush, complete with a centralized lake. There is a paved path that circles the lake and is perfect for anyone and everyone to use. Wether it be for casual exercise, training for an event, event venue, or just getting out there with the natural surroundings, Orlander Park is your best bet to achieve those things. It was nice to see the lake when I was there, complete with the ducks keeping us runners company as we circled the lake from sunrise to sunset on Sunday, September 1, 2019. I enjoyed the trappings of Orlander Park and what it has to offer. The appeal of this park is that it is large and has some spots where you can picnic and have events. I even saw a birthday party going down at the gazebo in the afternoon. There is also the Nederhouser Community Hall, which is a meeting place where it kind of resembles a high school cafeteria, complete with space to prepare food. For the most part though, Orlander Park is amazing for its wide open spaces, clean amenities, bathrooms along the pathway and at the Nederhouser Community Hall. The park is well maintained by the good folks at the Sylvania township. The overall experience here at Orlander Park was quite beautiful, spiritual, and soul awakening for sure. It was nice to have bathrooms out on the course, especially when running or walking around the lake in case you need them. The trees were nice and seemed to wave at us as we passed on by. I did see one major parking lot inside the park itself, but we were told to park across the street near the Tam-O-Shanter. Still, on any given day, there is parking options for anyone and everyone who wants to come here to enjoy the park, the lake, and the ducks who call home here. Orlander Park is located at 6930 W Sylvania Avenue in Sylvania Ohio. Since it is a public community park, there are no admission fees! Yay! That's awesome! Be mindful about the park hours and know that it's a community park. No littering or illegal activities. My experience at this park spanned about close to 20 hours before I had to head back to Detroit for the flight home. Came here around 7:15am on a brisk Sunday morning on the first day of September 2019 and didn't leave the area until around 5:15am the next morning. It sure was an unforgettable experience, that's for sure! Orlander Park is optimum for families or individuals who want to go somewhere and do things without an entrance fee. For the most part though, watching the ducks swimming in the lake as i ran walked around the lake via the paved path seemed to keep my mind in the game. There was signs posted to not go swimming or diving in the lake. The park itself was clean and you probably could camp here overnight, with proper permits. Walking the 1 mile-ish loop reminds me that Orlander Park can be a high school track, although it's one mile-ish around instead of the 1/4 mile around. Orlander Park here in Sylvania Ohio is as beautiful as they come. There's a bunch of spots that provide shade to you, but majority of the area doesn't. Just be mindful about putting on sunscreen if you decide on going out when the sun is out. I would definitely recommend coming to Orlander Park for just about anything. Whether you're an avid nature lover, training for your next race, or just want to walk / run around the paved path, it's definitely the right place for you - if you are in the area. Best thing is that the paved path around the lake is very flat. No hills to deal with, so that was very nice. Consider coming here for your needs. Might not be the beach, but it's therapeutic and scenic. It might just be the place after a tough day at the office or a long travel day to Detroit and want to take the edge off. Dogs not allowed! --- not even on leash--- This park is worthless in my opinion. The website says dogs allowed but its confusing. Apparently if you click on the dog icon it will tell you which areas you can bring your dogs. Too much of a hassle when there are so many other nicer parks around. The entrance we went to said absolutely no pets so if you can figure it out you are better than me. read more

The park is really beautiful and well kept. There are lots of things to do. Good for people of all ages. I rented a row boat and it was so fun! I recommend this if you like paddle boats, kayaking, canoeing. They have a beach with obstacle courses. They also have several parks. A walking trail. read more

Awesome park that has a 1-mile concrete walking path around the lake. Event center, area for vendors when they have events, picnic area with grills. No dogs allowed. Swimming and paddle boats available to rent. I got married here in their hall. The deck is beautiful. read more

The park is really nice and once the grass comes in it will be beautiful! I wish the path went all the way around the lake rather than having to walk on the road for a portion of the walk. It would also be nice if they told you on the website that you have to pay for parking if you're not a Sylvania resident. I had to go home just to get money to pay to park. Not a huge deal but a little annoying. read more

Great city park, the only downside is the hordes of geese, though there probably isn't much that the park staff can do about them.

This park is clean and most of the time quiet. Pets are not allowed here which makes my experience more enjoyable since I don't know how to deal with pets. I tried the pudding boats and it was very beautiful experience too. read more

The ranger there was extremely aggressive and rude. Went with my friend to go hammocking and were there at 8:50 and we knew that it closes at 9:00 so we were about to start packing up but the ranger came by and started yelling at us and said that "if you don't leave in the next 10 minutes you will be sleeping in your car and you will be trespassing" and then he proceeded to quiz me on Olander Parks hours for the year. We were very polite and he treated us with sick disrespect. This was on Tuesday August 25th. Will not be going back. read more

I live within walking distance of this park and I find it to be wonderful. It is beautiful, has playgrounds, has swimming and fishing opportunities, and so much more. The nature is astounding. When I was younger my sister and I would ride our bikes down to the park and climb the trees and watch the geese and their babies. I love the yarn-bombing as well. It's beautiful. read more

Small, but special! Geared toward a quick respite from suburbia for walking, swimming, picnicking, time with the kids, or a little walk. Head to one of the great Metroparks in the area if you're looking to really get into nature, but this little sliver of trees and big pond, or little lake is one of the gems of Sylvania! Of special note is the hall that is available for rental which is a primo place for gatherings such as a graduation party, or smaller informal wedding reception. Enjoy! read more

We went on Memorial Day which equates to a higher $10 entrance fee?! To a park? The real disappointment was that once we paid and parked, the signs at the beach (reason we came) said "no swimming". Apparently, there were no lifeguards. First time visiting Olander. Will never go back. Wildwood is 10x better, cleaner, more beautiful and FREE! read more

There is, in my opinion, not another park in the Toledo area that can compare with Olander.There is always something fun to see ----ducks, geese, fishermen, boats, and when the sun shines on the lake and it glimmers and glistens, the quiet and the beauty are indescribable. Lately the ground has been covered with tiny white flowered plants that seem to attract the wildlife: the ducks and geese are used to people so they don't run away but quack and squawk as they hunt for seeds. It is as close to paradise in Ohio as I've seen and I thank all of the folks who made it possible! read more
