When I was walking there I thought I was surely lost. I love plants and gardens in general and this was quite a collection of plants and flowers. The Simpson Garden Park is 11 acres of rolling gardens in the middle of an urban landscape. The estate features a Children's Discovery Garden with pond and activities, Sensory Garden, Shade Garden with an incredible collection of Hosta, Daylily Garden with an amazing collection of lily, Sculpture Garden (which left me wanting a little more, sadly), a new Japanese Peace Garden and a Healing Garden at the end, to name a few. All free to the public to enjoy. You can easily spend a few hours exploring all the flowers but also the wildlife. An abundance of bees, butterflies, frogs, caterpillars, and hummingbirds are provided a free playground with all the pollen rich florals. Great place to get away and take a breather and to bring the kids to let them safely explore the riches of nature found in their own backyard.

Toledo has a multitude of interesting trails for biking, walking, blading, running, etc…read more Although, albeit to a lesser extent, the Parks University Trail does the same thing, the CCT is more than just a nature trail...it traverses several different environment types. There are sections that are wooded, and there are sections that are abutting people's backyards. Certain sections go along, or crossover, some of Toledo's major thoroughfares. Some of the more interesting areas pass through some of the de-industrialized parts of town. Several major parks, such as Ottawa Park, are abutted and/or traversed. The campuses for both MCO (uh, UTMC) and UT (main campus and Scott Park) are included. The southernmost terminus is at the Maumee River. It's at the site of an old railway bridge that has since been demolished. Certain parts of the bridge, such as the turntable gears, are on display at this end of the trail. The northern terminus is near Bowman Park in West/North Toledo. If you're into casual biking/hiking, or you're just interested in taking a leisurely stroll, you'll find that this trail provides an awesome addition to Toledo's repertoire of outdoor activities. 5 stars!

This is what I call a country-club mini-golf course; i.e., it features no windmills or clowns but…read moreis set up more like a real golf course. There are water, sand, and rock hazards, doglegs, and undulations. Many holes require banking off a side-slope rather than traditional ricocheting; in fact, ricochets are a crap shoot here because most of the bumpers are curved and made of short bricks, so there are any number of unpredictable deflections that can occur. Some of the bumpers have open spots into the "ponds" and "creeks" so that you really have to be careful how you direct the tee shot. That being said, it's not a terribly difficult course. Par is 40 and I came in at 43 (I managed to stay out of the hazards, a couple of times by mere luck). One problem--they have flag pins which they require you to leave in. Twice I hit the stick on my first shot, and I consider that a robbery of a potential hole-in-one! The course is a lot of fun if you are satisfied with reading a tricky fairway and giving it your best shot. If you want gimmicks, you won't find them here. The maintenance is decent: no worn spots on the carpet, very few bits of small debris on the course, nice landscaping. There was plenty of running water here but it smelled of sulphur. The balls and clubs are in good condition, too. One other neat thing--at each tee they have a trivia question about the state of Ohio. The answers are printed on the back of the scorecard. Nice touch. I was there on Labor Day around 1:30-2 pm and there were only three couples ahead of me and one family of five following. I'm used to having to wait at most mini-golf courses. All in all, for $5 this is a good time and a great value.

Hunter contacted me within a few days of making a deposit and kept in constant contact while waiting out the weather and my work schedule. We met at the selected time and place and after some brief conversation we headed to the river. River fishing is very new to me. We talked how how to wade safely especially on the slippery and muddy conditions and how to safely wade unfamiliar water. We got started by Hunter evaluating my rig then watched my casting offering tips and suggestions throughout. We discussed different methods from streamers to nymphing as well as how to fish riffles or not. All in all I feel I got a tremendous amount of info from an experienced angler that I could ask questions as they came up and not just a YouTube video. The best advice though was to get out and do it! I felt as if I was fishing with my brother! Thanks Hunter!
