It felt like I went from Santa Fe to Santa Ana. Speaking of Santas, it's known as the Christmas Capital, but in the off-season, the only thing Christmas-like was me thinking, "Jesus Christ, these long stretches of sidewalk feel empty" Granted, it was the midday lull, and many of the shops and restaurants seemed spread out or closed as early as 5:00 PM. It's a nice, free place for a slow-paced stroll, but a bit underwhelming if you are looking for a vibrant atmosphere.

Downtown Grapevine is one of my favorite areas to visit, there are numerous local shops, a farmers…read moremarket, art gallery, museum(s), restaurants, a book store, trinity metro Tex rail station etc. Downtown grapevine has various community events throughout the year and is known as the Christmas Capital of Texas. There are statues and benches throughout the downtown area that add to the charm of historic downtown grapevine. Some of my favorite areas in the historic downtown area are talking animals (book shop), house of shine (non-profit/museum) and the farmer's market of grapevine. I look forward to my next visit.

We had been to butterfly tents before, and this was no different. I was expecting more of a…read morefestival that revolved around butterflies and not just the tent. That said, it is still a decent event, I just would plan on being there for a hour or so, tops. As stated on the website, there is a 600 sq.ft. tent that houses all of the butterflies. We wanted to be there for the release at 5pm on the last day, Sunday. We got there with a few hours left and the staff was already starting to tear down the tent. They were friendly and assisted with providing the tool for you to get some of the butterflies to come your way. There were a handful of silent auction items as this is a fundraising event. The release itself was uneventful and informal. each person got to take a butterfly outside the tent and release it on their own. Parking is easy, but this is certainly not a "festival."

The pictures looked absolutely stunning and the lineup this year appealed directly to my taste in EDM so I had to check it out. Any festival with Porter, Borgore, Flux, 3LAU, etc in my backyard needs to be attended. The ticket price was extremely affordable for a two day festival ($115). I loved this festival! There was so much room to dance and I never felt claustrophobic like at Life in Color or some other festivals I've been to. The production was incredible. They don't just have LED screens or big LED screens, they arrange them in such a way for each stage that you could have the same artist playing at the two larger stages and get a completely different experience. The LED screens piece together to project different parts of one visual. It's pretty damn awesome. Sound quality was amazing. Large variety of food. Beer was quite pricey for an EDM festival (that being said while I expected pricey beer). Parking is $20 and the lot was extremely easy to get in and out of. There is a massive Buc-ee's across the street from the speedway so it was the perfect spot for post hangover food. There was a surprisingly large amount of out of staters here and it was nice meeting people from all over the states at this festival. It is growing larger every year and it's inspiring to see the rapid growth of EDM in Texas. I hope they one day put this inside the Speedway and we get a three day Texas EDC :) One can dream! As an aspiring DJ who started learning a few months ago, I can certainly say I would love to play this festival next year if I got good enough!

Years ago I used to think, "one day when I own my own house, I want it to be in a neighborhood that…read morecomes together at Christmas like Diamond Loch!" Now, I'm not so sure. Don't get me wrong... I LOVE these Christmas lights, the festivity, and the community together-ness. I admire this wonderful and jolly neighborhood! But... these poor home-owners can't event get out of their driveway! I'm exaggerating a bit, of course... but it does get pretty darn crowded here come sun-down in December. For good reason, though. This lights-display is just so fun and happy and Christmassy. It's impossible to look at Christmas lights and feel sad, don't you think? Just go into it knowing that it'll take awhile to get through, and enjoy the ride. Get hot-chocolate, a peppermint mocha, or a hot apple cider on the way. Pack some ziplock baggies full of popcorn and chex-mix and nuts. Hot dogs! Pizza! I don't know, whatever you like to eat. Make an evening-event out of this and take it all in! It could make for a unique date or the perfect festive-family-fun night. Some sections are synced to music, so pay attention to which radio station you need to tune into. Otherwise, blast your own carols! I've seen lots of people walking through the neighborhood instead of driving, which is a good way to take extra time if you want, or to get through faster (depending on your physical agility, of course). Personally, I like to sit in my heated car with my homemade "hot punch," crackers, and cheese while I gaze out the window upon the bright, blissful lights... sigh... MERRY CHRISTMAS!

I recently heard of this place and decided to go check it out. The neighborhood has several…read moreentrances but the main one you can go in is through the north part thru . They do have police directing traffic and blocking the other streets so only residents can enter through those. I went around 8pm on a weekday and there were about 30 cars waiting to go in. I was surprise it only took me about 5-9 minutes to get into the neighborhood. Once inside you just follow the crow and enjoy, a lot of the streets have a could de sac and you can just follow along. The neighborhood is a big circle so when you are done you will exit where you first came out of. It took me about another 10 minutes to get through the first set of house because there were a group of little kids at the end of the first street passing out candy canes. They were the reason why it was taking a while to get into the place but after that I was constantly moving along looking at house. The whole thing did not take me more than 30 minutes and after that I was on my way back home. Its free and the house that are decorated are nice but a lot of them are also dark and don't participate (which is fine). But if I had to choose between this and Interlocken in Arlington, i choose arlington. Thats just my person opinion but either way come on out and enjoy some lights by yourself or with the squad.

The old location by Lewisville Lake was cool, but the current location may be even better. There's live music, arts and crafts, kids playground and fun zone, and 10-15 hot air balloons. The current location is easy to find and there are multiple parking options, from the park lot ($5 and based on availability), to the school parking lot a good walk away, to the nearby neighborhoods. We parked in the pay lot since it was closest and the proceeds went to a good cause, and the festival was free. There was a good amount of balloons and the lighting of them was the best part. Otherwise, there was a tethered balloon ride, live music and tons of booths selling food and other trinkets. There was also a children's area with inflatables that was a nominal fee to partake in. The best children's activity was the train ride that took you all around the park. The line for this was long. And if that wasn't enough, the park playground was also a good option to entertain.

A local business owner (that seemed further in than me) said that they were a cover band with a rotating cast or characters. Sounded good. Seemed cool. I didn't make it all the way to Pat Green, nor the foreworks, but I had a great time. Only criticism - a TON of cash only things.

We brought our teenagers there and they had a blast. No alcohol is served, so the kids can stay until they close. The ticketed games also pay out well. The best thing about this place vs the other video game places is.......if you don't play, you don't have to pay. This is not true for other gaming places. It's nice to bring your kids and let them play and the parents/adults who aren't paying can sit and chit chat. SO AMAZING!!! The staff were so nice and accommodating. We would definitely return. Everyone needs to go and keep them in business.

It was one of my favorite things to do and recently I brought my son to experience the same joy. He had such a blast. We love the snacks and merch. He loved getting tokens to play games and get tickets and redeem them for candy and toys. Coming here is such a core memory and so nostalgic. I love that it's all you can play. All the larger arcades are so expensive and pay per play so I love their all you can play model. I'm devastated by the news and hope that the community will come together to help them. I know I'll be doing my part.

It was a fun day in historic Grapevine, Texas for the 42nd Annual Main Street Fest. They shut down…read more7 blocks of Main Street for foot traffic and line the center of the road with food trucks and arts & craft booths. There was a full size carnival at the north end and a huge stage with live entertainment. There was also a high wire act over Main Street. They were celebrating their Golden Jubilee for Mayor Tate, having served for 50 years. As part of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, it's nice that Grapevine has kept its unique flavor and charm. From vintage trains to glass blowing and blacksmithing and other artists, there are plenty of interesting things to see here. Don't forget the craft beer and local wines you can sample here, too.
