El Cajon Oktoberfest is the best!
    James K.

There's no Oktoberfest as great as the El Cajon German American Society's. Real German food, real German beer , desserts and the band is flown in from Germany! 6 days of fun for the young and old. Plenty of vendor booths to stroll through all st reasonable prices too!

What a fun Oktoberfest, it was my first time coming here with some friends. The food was really good and they had real German beer, I had a radler that was very citrusy and refreshing. We spent a couple hours there enjoying the music and watching everyone in the outfits. For food I had the ox, red and white cabbage and a yummy serving of German potato salad. I will definitely be coming back next year.

This is by far the best Oktoberfest in the county! I go each year, often multiple days, as there is fun to be had each day. It is a the German American Society so there is a permanent German-style clubhouse. This Oktoberfest is in the clubhouse and a huge covered outdoor area. They always have a band that comes from Germany, and often a smaller band in the clubhouse. They do all types of fun, traditional German dances and games. There is German food, shopping, and an air pellet shooting range. This year I enjoyed bratwurst, pickles, potato cakes, and German spirits. I bought German hat pins, browsed the booths, and danced a lot. They played all the traditional German dances. We also enjoyed the folk dance performances. It's always a blast.... wear your lederhosen or dirndl, and take a spin on the dance floor to some polka!

This was my first time going to the El Cajon Oktoberfest. They had a good selection of actual Oktoberfest and German beers on tap. It was well organized and the food and music were great. I think I will go back to this one again. It defiantly had the real German Oktoberfest vibe. I had the ox, red and white cabbage and some German potato salad.

If you are going to do an Oktoberfest in San Diego this is the one to go to. They have 2 separate weekends, and its run by the German Society of San Diego so you know it's as authentic as possible. Grab a beer or 10, a plate of amazing Ox tail, and build your cup tower while singing along with German music and watching traditional German games like eat the hanging bratwurst. If your so inclined you can even purchase true traditional German garb, lederhosen anyone?

I had just come back from the real Oktoberfest in Munich...Prost! If you never make it to Munich, El Cajon's Oktoberfest is nowhere near as awesome, but it is as close as you can get to the real thing in San Diego... PROs: -Real Ompah Band flown in from Germany...YES! -Everything is setup similar: shared community tables, food booths, vendors -Lots of real German beers on draft, including unique ones. -You can drink said beer anywhere on premise, you're not trapped in a fake beer garden -Food is decent and reasonably priced at $10/plate, or less. -Beers are a reasonable $6 each...and you can bring your own mug! -People are dressed in Lederhosen and Dirndl dresses. -Friendly staff, including the real police officers. CONs: -$10 cover charge -Very crowded(even with that $10 cover charge!) -LINES!!! Line for beer tokens...line for beer...line for food tickets...line to get your food I would stay away from the food lines between 6-8:30pm. Took forever to get it all. -A few douchey guys around...but that is anywhere with beer nearby. -Not the real Oktoberfest Conclusion: I'll probably come back again next year...UYE anyone? Prost!

This will be the closest thing to Octoberfest in San Diego that you will get. Decent food but not the best. Good beer at $6 a pop. Decent pretzels. Outstanding desserts. Plenty of seating and a real good German band playing. The band plays classic sounding oompah music and covers that you are familiar with. I would describe the surroundings as a oversized beer garden with some vendors and a live band playing. You pay a $10 entrance fee and everyone under 21 is free. Which isn't bad at all. Plenty of little ones running around. If you do bring your little ones just keep track of them. There is a lot of beer drinking and occasional drunken behavior. Parents be warned. The Oktoberfest holds a raffle for prizes. Dancing here and there. The Chicken Dance is a popular one at this event. A sauerkraut eating contest. Lot's of fun Oktoberfest type activities throughout the day at the event. Overall, a fun time. Again the closest thing in San Diego to Oktoberfest. Will be back next year.

Held at the German American Societies club in El Cajon. One of my favorite events of the year. Traditional Oktoberfest with REAL German food and beer. The best German band and super fun entertainment. I look forward to this event all year and love the vibe. The Ox meat plate is super tasty as well as the German pastries. You can also get a traditional bratwurst on a roll. Parking can be a bit tricky but it is worth the walk. Get there a little early so you can get your seat. Does fill up because it is so popular and a small intimate venue (not like that other Oktoberfest in East County... which is really just a street festival with a beer garden). This is the real deal. If you go into the GAS clubhouse you will see all the members and the many events and activities they do all year long in photos throughout the entrance hall. $10 entrance and plates are around $10 for meat, sauerkraut, potato salad, and roll. Good value! Loads of beer selections!! You can even bring your own stein and pour your beer in it to have that authentic German feel. Fun music and games for adults and kids. Everyone is nice and friendly and you can have a great time for under $40 (depending on how much beer you drink). I love when attendees stack their cups to build a "cup tower" to show how many beers a group of people drink! (The hostess did urge people to take a Taxi or Uber so they don't drink and drive. They will even call the Taxi for you!) Don't forget to do the Chicken Dance! The most popular German dance in the world (except for in Germany). I've been going to the GAS for my entire life and the Oktoberfest is one of the ways the club raises money to keep in running. Two weekends in the fall (last weekend in September and first in October). All the servers and helpers are all VOLUNTEERS and put a lot of time into making it a fun event for all ages. Get your Dirndl and Lederhosen out and have a good time! See you there! Prost!!

Does the trolley stop where the festival is?

There is no trolley stop I'd consider to be close enough for Amy walking to the club from. If you aren't planning to drive, a lot of people use Lyft or Uber

So, this was our first time paddlin' in, and the place was packed with people--always a good sign, right? But, bro, the food? It didn't quite catch the wave for me. I went for the lasagna, and man, the portion was smaller than I hoped for. My wife went with the chicken Parmesan, but the chicken was kinda chewy, like it got tossed around in the surf a bit too long. And the bread? A little dry, like it needed a splash of ocean water to bring it back to life. First impression? Just average, my friends. I was really hoping for an epic Italian feast, but it felt more like a small ripple than a big wave. I'll give it a three for the vibe and the crowd, but the chow just didn't hang ten for us. Catch you on the next wave! Captain 619

Quiet, very little crime, very little traffic, well built houses (almost everything was built in the 60's), stability, and good people. During the recent drop in real estate prices, things stayed stable in comparison and there was only one foreclosure I know of. There is not the high turn over in sales and people moving in and out that you would have in places like UTC or PB. Shopping is good too with the nearby Windmill and Keil's Supermarkets. The location is excellent with quick access to 8 &15 freeways, Lake Murray and Mission Trails Regional Park. On our street all the houses are 4-5 bedrooms and around 2,500 square feet on 1/4 acre lots. Nothing much ever happens here and that's the way I like it.

We have found ourselves very irritable at lunchtime in our office because we have been ordering the same old lunches for years...one of us for 24 years! We sent one of the owners of the company I work for out on a mission to find new lunch spots. This is how we found Dolci! We ordered 6 different items to share so that we could try several items. Grande Lasagna Bolognese, Americana Pizza, Italian Fest Panini, Fettuccine Cartoccio, Dolci Chicken Mac & Cheese and Penne Michealangelo. Every single item was so delicious. The flavors were rich and the portions were generous! It gave the feeling of FINALLY being satisfied with lunch which we have not had in a very long time! We all agreed we needed a nap after lunch because we stuffed ourselves in the most gluttonous manner! The only problem is that we were so stuffed no one wanted to get back to work! We are very pleased with the quality of ingredients, the order being ready on time and even after driving 15-20 minutes back to the office the food was still hot! Thank you Dolci! We arrived at 6:15 for our reservation on a Friday night. Downtown La Mesa had a charming farmer's market wrapping up along the street, which added such a lovely atmosphere to the evening. We found free street parking easily, and from the moment we walked up, the experience was warm and welcoming. The hostess greeted us outside with genuine kindness, checked us in, and seated us with ease. Then came Francesca -- our server, and honestly the heart of our entire evening. Originally from Sicily, Francesca brought an authenticity and warmth to the table that is simply rare. She was attentive, knowledgeable, generous with her recommendations, and had this wonderful energy that made our whole table feel at ease and cared for. She is the kind of server you remember, and the kind you come back for. The interior is absolutely beautiful -- the colors, the design, the layout -- everything is thoughtfully done and so inviting. For food, we shared the artichoke and Brussels sprouts appetizers (both delicious), and my friend enjoyed a refreshing limoncello spritz cocktail. For our entrées, I had the chicken with mushrooms, asparagus, and mashed potatoes -- perfectly prepared -- and my mom and friend had pasta dishes that Francesca personally recommended, which they loved. We finished with the chocolate lava cake, which was indulgent and wonderful. Next time, I am absolutely trying the house-made tiramisu. After dinner, we strolled through downtown La Mesa and it was just delightful -- the streets were beautifully lit up, lively, and full of local charm. Our group of three -- myself, my mom, and my friend -- all left completely charmed. We will without a doubt be back. If you're lucky enough to have Francesca as your server, consider the evening made. Highly recommend!
