CHRISTMAS CIRCLE?! ... was more like Christmas 1/3 of a circle. I get it, SDG&E are nickel and diming us with their high electrical bills. So I give kudos to those who go all out and keep it festive. I feel bad for those that feel the need to keep up with the pressure of living in the circle, and I feel bad for those that can't. This is great for those in the area that can walk. I don't know if taking the drive down was worth it. Living in different cities and states, I do have much to compare. And I've noticed that San Diego seems to be the less festive. Is it the sunny warm weather that makes it not feel like the holiday's? Is it that people aren't THAT into it? All I know it's the city I've lived in that has the least Christmas vibes. I've heard about this places through people, coworkers, radio, social media. It's worth a drive south to see for self and my expectations must have been too high because the drive around the circle made me say "oh that's it?" About 1/3 of the houses had decorations. There were a few homes that were bah-humbug. There were houses that were decked out, houses that have simple decorations, and then there were houses that had decor but weren't lit up, and there were homes that looked like they want to keep their lights turned off to shoe away people as if they are annoyed living on that street. I get it, the spirit is not for everyone! Took some photos that were decked out the most,l. You can decide if you and your family want to take the drive (or not). I had a favorite... a house decked out with minions!

Great and very colorful and great for children and adults also! Please see all photos! Bring a cozy jacket to keep warm! Please turn on parking lights as a courtesy to others! Thanks! I have been going to this wonderful place for a very long time and hope it will always be their! Happy Holiday and new year for evermore!

The best family tradition for years. Thank you to these neighbors for putting up a great show and keeping the Christmas spirit alive year after year!

Such a fun activity to do during Christmas! You can either walk through or drive through but I'd highly recommend walking. Nearby you will encounter vendors selling toys, food, drinks.

The best place to see lights in the South Bay is Christmas Circle hands down. This year, it celebrates 66 years of hosting this free community event. Things to remember: -It's FREE. Residents don't sell merch and do not get a discount from SDG&E -Driving in can take a long time, highly recommended parking on side streets and walking in -Vendors are sometimes located outside of the circle -Pick up your trash. There are several trash cans throughout the circle

Best home with most Christmas spirit

Fun! Especially for families or couples who love Christmas! They have hot chocolate and treats around the corner too!

Good OL Frosty at Christmas Circle, when I was a kid I tear up every time he melted in his cartoon, shoot I still tear up dammit.

Love this place! How can you not, well unless your atheist or a Jehovah's Witnesses then I guess I can see how your no fun & don't like it. But me & my family love it! Been coming here for years since I was a kid & now I take my kids. The people that participate in this are awesome a shout out to all of them who put out their lights for us to enjoy! You guys F'N rock! Driving thru it is cool but honestly it gives it no justice you must & have to walk the whole Christmas Circle. It's an awesome experience, go in your PJ's or sweats take the kids & a doggie just do it you won't regret it. Traffic can be crazy another reason walking is better but you might have to park a bit far. It gets cold at night so take a cup of hot chocolate with you as you walk & don't tell the wifey but splash a little Jack Daniels in it it warms you up even more (and that's your tip for this review dads) just don't give the kids any. Oh & don't be an ass or let your kids be little asses & litter while your walking through it, not cool. So enjoy the beautiful experience of Christmas Circle every December take the family, take pictures & dress warm & have a Merry Christmas. See you next year Christmas Circle!

Every year I visit Christmas circle to see the light displays. Most drive thru it but the best way to enjoy it and get good pictures is to walk thru it. There is usually a house that has someone in a Santa costume who you can take pictures with. There is also another house that provides a cute Christmas themed back drop to get your annual photo taken. My favorite house to always see is the nightmare before Christmas theme. During the week days it isn't as busy as the weekends tend to get packed. The lights are usually on from 5pm-10pm and from experience when it's a rainy day or it had just rained for the day most won't have their lights on so come on a day with good weather. During the month of December it does get cold so I'd recommend you dress warm from head to toe.

Outside Xmas circle.

Gets you in the holiday spirit, traffic is absolutely horrendous. Anticipate waiting and causing a lot of traffic in the neighborhood.

Ask the Community - Christmas Circle

When do they start this year?

December 9th

What is the 2023 schedule?

Dec 9th - Dec 26th (5PM-10PM)

Is it open already?

No (Dec 9th - Dec 26th)

No. Lights in December 25th next year is typically the second weekend in December around the 9th or 10th to the 25th of December.

Is Christmas Circle happening 2021?

Absolutely. Don't miss the fun. I would suggest to bring a small radio and play Christmas music. The homes are great lighting but rather quiet the entire circle.

Will Christmas circle 2020 be happening?

Yes its on

Is this still happening this year (2020)?

Yes, BUT it is a shadow of what it traditionally looks like in years past. Due to COVID-19, there is no city support in the form of signage or traffic cones. Our city's Mayor has discouraged residents from attracting large crowds. Please be kind… Read more

Got married & raised 3 kids here & the schools & district here are very good & most of the politics here are too. Our mayor now & past mayor have been real good, they have helped a lot with small businesses & cleaning up CV from the homeless. Of course it has its sketchy areas like most cities but for the most part it has more good than bad. What I love the most about CV is the food! Yes I belive CV has the best Mexican, Mariscos, Chinese food in all SD! Just drive down Broadway CV you'll find almost every Mexican food, taco shops & Mariscos you can want! From Tacos El Gordo to Canelo's new spot & Birria places just to name a few. And so many good little cafes & bars on 3rd & Downtown Chula Vista. If you live in CV you don't have to leave your city to find good food, it's all around you baby. Overall CV is a good city to live in & raise a family in like I did. Love Ya Chula wouldn't want to live anywhere else in SD :)

Unfortunately this little comic con outside of comic con has tickets too and they sell out just as lightning speed fast as the real comic con tickets. At night, they have little parties you can usually get into, so that is fun. They have a photobooth every year where you can take your Nerd HQ photo with the Nerd HQ logo. In 2015 they had a replica speeder, in a Hoth environment (not a blue/green screen) and you could get on for a photo. Reminds me of the old ET bicycle at Universal Studios. I think if you weren't able to get comic con tickets you definitely want to check out Nerd HQ as an alternative or complimentary experience.

The year before I was so sad that I didn't know about this earlier... last year I made it a point to come here! Trust me, speaking as a nerd herself, this place was AMAZING!!! It was all types of nerdy awesomeness on sooooo many levels!! Saw Zachery Levi and man, he is a hottie and if all nerdy boys looked like him, they'd never have trouble finding a date! LOL. Anyways, this place is an amazing heaven from the madness that is Comic-Con! Comfy couches for you to rest on, cool lighting, a futuristic/nerdy/club vibe, games for you to play... a dance floor... and even panels! The panels are more of casual conversation, afterall, they are called Conversation for a Cause and all the proceeds go to charity. The panels sell out FAST and at $22 a seat, it is sooooooo worth it!! No ridiculous long lines of Comic-Con waiting for a panel and it is in such an intimate setting that there are literally no bad seats! My brother and I went to the Psych panel and both him and I were like giddy girls so thrilled to be so close and with virtually no wait! Zachery Levi will introduce the panel, but then sits on the side, lets the panel do their thing, and come back on at the end. He does however host his own panel... and out on the floor, he does make appearances AND with the celebs too. If you happen to be there at the right time, you will see them! While at Comic-Con, I kept seeing on their Facebook that literally many of the celebs that had panels at Comic-Con went there after for a more relaxed appearance! If I had known that more, I would had spent more time here at Nerd HQ! If you are looking for freebies though, this isn't the place for it... besides, Nerd HQ is already free to enjoy! They do have a party, which I'm hoping this year I can go to. I came here several times during the course of Comic-Con and always had a great time! I hope they keep doing it here at this location because it was just awesome and so perfect!! I can't wait for this year!! I'm hoping to go to more panels here. I think it's totally worth the cost and besides, it goes to charity!! Comic-Con is synonymous with nerds and what better place than to be here at Nerd HQ. Best of all, it's FREE!! I'm so here again this year... and yes, I do have my Comic-Con tickets for this year too!! VIVA LA NERDOLUTION!!

The farmer's market was right outside on Saturday, and there were dozens of top-tier restaurants and bars within short walking distance. I'm so glad we stayed in this neighborhood over Gaslamp, as that was on my radar too but sounded like it may have been too wild. We didn't have a car, so parking wasn't a problem, and public transportation was close by. It was also easy to call for a Lyft. I also appreciated how close it was to the airport. My main goal was to explore the walkability, public transport options, and lodging choices. I would give Little Italy an A+ in all three categories! Throughout the district you'll find Italian restaurants at every corner, mini-marts, and boutique stores. If you'd like to vacation here, you can literally spend a couple of days in Little Italy and have everything you need in one spot. A trolley station is available near the center of the main hub and there's plenty of hotels! I wouldn't stay over the Summer as prices are exorbitantly high, I'd visit during the off season. July would be the worst month to stay in my opinion! Little Italy has a massive plaza with bistro-style tables and chairs open to the public. I couldn't help but notice the fact that I felt transported to Italy! Several restaurant owners had an Italian accent or spoke Italian. Additionally, the aroma of pizzerias and pubs were quite enticing. If you're into sports, there's several locations with screens for watching live events. My only issue with Little Italy is the lack of parking. Everywhere you go, street parking and paid parking is FULL. You'll be lucky to find a spot during the summer season. I found a spot after half an hour of circling the vicinity like a San Diego shark. The city needs to create more underground lots or more street parking.
