Okidoki is the kind of place I would love to love (ambiance is on point) but I unfortunately I don't. My main issue is the prices and service.
Okidoki have a reputation of being the best Mexican restaurant in Bergen, which is difficult to dispute as the food is excellent. However, since moving location their prices seem to have gone up, and they have moved in the direction of over prized.
Their small plates (one item per plate) range from 95 kr (pork taco) to 165 kr halibut tostada. For a full dinner you probably need four+ plates depending on how hungry you are, but if you just want a snack while drinking one or two might be enough. (My party of four ordered three each and we legt the restaurant not full). For 0,33l tap beer (pilsner) you pay 89 kr, and the cheapest white wine by the glass is 155 kr.
As the place was quite full when we visited I can understand that service was a bit slow, however 25-30 minutes from sitting down until the food/drink order was taken is unfortunately unacceptable. The place seems understaffed and while they are pleasant enough, it would not hurt to get a few extra people in during the dinner rush with the princes they are charging. read more
