Place that caters to locals with outdoor tables for smoking and dogs. They have an extensive beer menu. You order at the counter and the server brings your food to the table. I had some local steamed shrimp and the Bergen fish soup, both good. The star was a pan fried turbot with hazelnuts, very complimentary flavors. Service was friendly. read more

Great place to bring your group of Amerikan Tourists. I ordered the meat stew. Had to place my order at the bar. The stew arrived soon enough, it was only lukewarm, but hot enough. Turns out it was awesome. Lots of pork and veggies within. Worth the wait. read more

We arrived on a beautiful evening so most tables outside were taken. We found a spot and placed our order inside at the counter. There was some confusion about the table number- it's needed to have your food served to the table. We had local Hansa beer and enjoyed it tho there is wine on the menu too. The fish soup with bread and the beef bourguignon with mashed potatoes were both very good. All of the locals were having a great time and a few spoke to us as they cleared dishes. What a friendly bunch! We enjoyed this local flavor! Most people are just having beer or wine so this is definitely a popular hang out. read more

Small menu, super local. So delicious. We actually went back a second night to try other foods. Go on Sunday and get the stewed beef it was so wonderful. Service was friendly and they spoke English which was helpful for me. Very chill outdoor patio with locals having a pint and a smoke. Loved this place. read more

Stopped in on a Saturday night for dinner was able to get a table for two next to the bar. Staff was very nice and helped recommend some local spirits. I got the fish soup which was filling and very tasty but slightly salty. My husband got the meat stew and it was the perfect comfort food. We split the meat and cheese board. A nice selection but with the soups it was a lot of food for two. Definitely want to go back and try some of their entrees. read more

Nice atmosphere. Food was great! Away from the hustle and bustle of the harbor area but not far. Worth the walk.

Food was very good, I had the fish soup, friend had the cod dish, both were very good, the fish soup was recommended by the staff after I asked about it. Great recommendation! Great place to drink a cool beer on a warm dinner evening. This restaurant has a cool local feel and is just far enough from the cruise ships to avoid an abundance of tourists with cameras hanging from their necks and sweaters wrapped around their shoulders. Really people ... still going with the sweater + shoulder look?!? Anyways this place has a nice selection of beers and we enjoyed the pasta bolognese. This review only gets 4 star because the menu is very limited. Otherwise the food they do have is tasty, drinks were good and the restaurant is filled with fun people. Honestly, this one one of our favorite little stops in Bergen! Dr. Wiesner is off the beaten (tourist) path and was filled with locals. The beer selection was excellent, the bartender was friendly, the bathrooms were clean, and there was plenty of outdoor seating. We were in Bergen on a very beautiful, sunny day and spent a couple hours drinking beer and hanging out on the outdoor patio. The bartender was also extremely nice and gave us a complimentary pour of the best aquavit we'd tried in Norway! read more

Came here on a Sunday with my family on vacation from Pa, USA and I was fortunate enough to run into a local who suggested the Sondag: Sosejjott! Traditional Sunday meal with Braised beef and mushy peas! Phenomenal!!!!! Daughter opted for the mussels, she loved it. We had two visits here in our three days in Bergen. Simply the friendliest, truly most welcoming local pub/eatery! On our first night, we arrived quite late and, even though the kitchen was technically closed, our accommodating server found hearty bowls of wonderful soup and fresh bread for us. This along with nice wine set us up for the fantastic Harahorn gin. On our final night in the city, we stopped for "just one glass of wine" and stayed for hours talking and laughing with the owners and local friends about all sorts of similarities and differences between our respective homelands. Dr. Wiesener is a neighbourhood gem that is very good for spending an evening out with friends, being able to have a conversation going. They have a nice selection of food and wine and a wider selection of beer. The staff is friendly and helpful and they have a separate room for watching sports events etc., when something major is going on. Highly recommended! read more

Recommended by our B&B. Menu is on blackboard in Norwegian but they happily translate it for you. Real Norwegian food at a good price. Great selection of draft beer as well as bottles. Service is excellent and food is too! Highly recommend! read more
