My usual handyman and repair was out sick so I looked online for other repair shops for my tenants fridge issues. You have to book online for a $125 diagnostic fee (upfront deposit). I actually called him the day before to tell him about my tenant situation and what they reported regarding freezer condensation leakage into the fridge. The day of the repair I get a call and final bill of $250. I was never informed of any additional work or follow up cost before the work was done. Isn't that common sense? What if the repair cost was $500 or $1,000? They will just do the work without owner approval? I pressed him on this a bit (with phone receipts) asking for an itemized split between labor and parts. He said no parts just labor and I confirmed he wasn't even there for an hour. I'm not going to sit here and say $250 is a fair price or not. I made the call and spoke with the gentleman that told me he could get to me the next day between 10am-11am, he arrived at least 30 minutes early (quite impressive ). My fridge broke down in October and Ngandu was able to come in right away, which was great. He did charge $175 for diagnostic (there was a leak somewhere in the fridge), so he filled it with gas. It worked, for 2 months, and the same happened again. While he didn't give us any warranty that filling gas would work, he did say he filled it with a sealant that would solve the issue. Instead, we had to call him again, and he had the audacity to say that he will charge $175 again. I understand he has to charge for his time and diagnostic, but it left a very sour taste. We finally agreed on $150, and same thing - gas leak, so he said he will fill it again, and this time, he will add sealant as well - when we said he did the same last time as well, he said he hadn't put the sealant in... Anyway, now, his gas plus sealant lasted 2 days. We wasted $325 on him. My recommendation to anyone is to forget about all such thieves, and just do everything yourself. Hoboken and JC is filled with people like these who charge not for their expertise but for the homeowners inadequacy. read more

It was difficult to get updates from him on when things would get done (ie schedule inspection of washer, getting options for a new washer/dryer; figuring out when he would pickup the new washer/dryers; when he would install; asking for a copy of a receipt). Ngandu was terrific - I've called him twice, and while the first time it turned out we needed someone else to come in to clean the dryer vent (I don't think he cleans dryer vents but we had a good experience with WellDuct; All City Heating and Cooling unfortunately did not do a thorough job), the second time he fixed the dryer right away. I called and within 30 minutes he was at the door; 30 minutes later the dryer was heating again (it tumbled but there was no heat). He had to replace the fuse that enabled the dryer to heat, and since it was same day service the service fee went from $50 to $75, but it was totally worth it. This was the best $200 I've ever spent! He doesn't take credit card, but he does take cash, check, and PayPal. I will definitely call him again if I need to (but hopefully not for awhile!). read more

He then told me that there was a diagnostic fee (which would be counted against any ultimate repair). He came and upon inspecting the machine confirmed his suspicions and advised us that while he could repair the machine, and would be happy to do so, the cost was so high it made sense to just buy a new machine. Inconvenience & Poor Service I was referred to this business by a coworker for a fridge repair, specifically the fridge was no longer making ice. The owner(Ngandu) came to my home for a $50 consultation. During the consultation I was told that the ice maker needs to be replaced and that was the reason why the fridge was not making ice. I was also told to replace the water valve because the two work together and it's best to replace them both to avoid one going bad shortly thereafter or in the event the ice issue was attributable to the other. Ngandu checked my fridge model and called someone to obtain the part number for both the water valve and the ice maker. He went on amazon and wrote down the prices (approx. $185) for both and informed me that the cost of his labor was $150. Once I purchased both parts I called Ngandu to come in to perform the work on October 26th. Prior to starting, he asked me to turn off the water line while he replaced the water valve. While replacing the water valve, he did not unplug the fridge causing the fridge board to blow. He went on to replace the ice maker later realizing that the part had a crack in it and claim it was defective because it wouldn't turn on. I later realize that although it had a crack in it, the ice maker wouldn't turn on because the fridge board blow and there was no power in the fridge. He told me I would need to replace the ice maker and he would purchase another board for my fridge since he messed it up. During this conversation he told me not the worry that the fridge was still working. Within the next 24-hr, I realized that was a lie as everything in the fridge melted. I reached out to him explaining that I needed him to repair the fridge. Because he was out of town, the earliest he would be available to look at the fridge would be October 28th. Keep in mind that he has not apologize for damaging the fridge or the inconvenience he was now causing me because of the work he did or lack there of. Ngandu came by Monday night with the wrong board after checking the fridge model while he was at the house on Saturday. He did not come by with the correct part until Thursday night. So I did not have a working fridge from Saturday to Thursday. To make matters worse; he agreed to come to my house at 7pm and did not show up to my house until 8:55pm! Again at no point did he call to inform me that he was going to be late. When I called to confirm if he was coming because at this point he was already 20 mins late he explained that he was waiting for his child's mother to pick up their daughter and he would be leaving soon. A simple phone call to inform me, a paid customer, he was running late would have suffice but he did not even have the curtesy to reach out as if this was free labor. After showing up to my house at almost 9 with no apology for his lateness, I've already been inconvenience without a fridge for a week and now he showed up to an appointment 2hrs late ( and there was no agreement or a 2hr window) During this visit, he replaced the board and the ice maker (I purchased a new one). The fridge light came on so I knew the board was replaced correctly. I asked him how soon will the ice maker begin to make ice and how would i know it was installed correctly, at which point he said 24hrs. As of today, November 10th, the ice maker is still not producing ice! I reached out to him again to inform him the ice maker was not making ice and he had the nerve to tell me that the problem was the ice maker and that he cannot guarantee the functionality of a part that was not purchased from him. After coming to my house to do a consultation he instructed me to buy parts from Amazon when he "apparently" sells these parts. Why would you not inform me of this during the consultation?? He left me without a fridge for a week, having to discard all the food that was included in the fridge, paid for labor and part only to still have the same problem. After having another conversation with him regarding the ice maker, instead having an ounce of empathy, he proceeds to tell me that he should be charging me each time he visit my house not realizing if he had fixed the problem he was hired to do he would not need to revisit my home. Ngandu lacks customer customer and has poor overall management skills. He has no regard for his customer's time and certainly does not acknowledge when he's at fault. Since my fridge is still not producing ice, I will need to hire someone more professional to get the job done. I have no intention of recommending this service to anyone. read more
