We went to Yamas with low expectations but quickly realized the quality. The decorations, music, food and customer service were all TOP NOTCH! My wife specifically requested we go to the Olympia Greek Taverna, for her birthday . We had been…read morethere before and it was a great experience. But tonight we went to the Taverna and had a very different experience. My wife had been excited to go out and get Greek food. She wanted the lamb souvlaki plate, and that what she ordered. But when the server brought out our food the order was incorrect. And when we said something about the mistake to the server made it my wife's fault. And instead of saying, Sorry let me fix that or even let me solve this mistake the server got defensive. She made the excuse that the kitchen was backed up and it would take a long time to fix. She did not care to fix the problem. We could have talked to an manager about it, but my wife would not make it a bigger problem. Our service went downhill from that point quickly. Our server stopped coming by or checking on us until it was time for the bill. On the way out someone asked how dinner was and I said it was just ok. I told him there had been a problem, but it wasn't resolved. He didn't ask for more details, and said sorry. That's it. I can't say it was good service was good, it wasn't!

Great place to get a lot of German foods though I'll admit that their packaged German goods has a…read morebetter variety than the cold cuts. It looks like their cold cuts are more than just German ones (European in general) and actually, I found that they are missing a lot of the favorites I grew up eating from Germany. Maybe it was the day I was there? It was a Saturday in the later part of the morning so they may have already been out. There's a bakery next door that also has a lot of great European rolls/breads and even desserts but also mixed in are North American treats as well so as much as this probably started out as an authentic German bakery and deli, it's now turned into a heavily German influenced bakery and deli. Still, for Kelowna, it's a good find for German products. Like many German delis, prices on packaged goods are obviously high as they are imports but where else are you going to find these products anyhow? The place is busy, kept clean, and the staff was helpful. A bit of confusion with the numbering system when we were there, but it happens.

We were looking for a bakery that had vegan options for a little bite one morning in Kelowna. This…read moreplace fit the bill pretty well in that the whole bakery is vegan. Tons of baked items on display when you arrive, plus a small menu of breakfast / lunch items. Since we wanted something heartier and less sweet, we ordered a couple of breakfast burritos ($6 each plus tax), as well as a couple of coffees to go. The burritos were ready in under 10 minutes. The burritos were very small, but I guess for $6 it's not a bad deal. Unfortunately for us, everything is also gluten free, so the wraps that come with the burritos are not a nice texture -- very papery and dry, and doesn't seem to stay together all that well. The filling was better, coming with tofu scramble, potatoes, and vegan cheese. The scrambled tofu was nice, the potatoes were dry and didn't have great texture, but the vegan cheese gives it a nice sauciness to it. They've gotta get better wraps for these, as this was a bit of a deal-breaker for me; I wouldn't order these again. 2.5/5 The coffees on the other hand were very nice. I'd gladly come back for coffee and maybe to try the baked/sweet goods.

Oh man. Kelowna really has upped their brunch game and has so many amazing options now…read more My fried chicken waffles were like nothing I've ever tasted before. Not only did it have so many different options of sauces to come with in which I got the salted maple syrup, but I loved the garnish of pickles and dill. It just provided an extra layer of crunch and texture with an explosion of flavor. I was pretty mesmerized by the Ukrainian breakfast plate as well because having a husband from Saskatoon means having pierogies and delicious sausages on our plates whenever we go back and this reminded me just to that. There are some other bowls and bennies pictured which all were amazing for my friends and husband. This place was bumping and packed by the time we left and service was phenomenal. They have a large parking lot and it's really close to the farmers market so could prove to be a great brunch spot and then opportunity to walk it off after. Finally, the space was very airy and bright but cosy with the wooden beams. The space is decently big and has an outdoor space in which many folks were sitting out there the day we went, though I imagine as winter settles in and perhaps brunch season picks up you will be expecting quite the wait if you didn't make a reservation... To be honest, I think a few people did have to when we were there and I'm sure that's the norm because this place is phenomenal.
