Fast, friendly service and a solid ramen option for South Bay. We were seated quickly and the staff was super welcoming. Ordered the ramen and it hit the spotgreat portion size with a rich, flavorful broth. I'm glad spots like this are opening up in the South Bay so we don't always have to drive up to Convoy (even though the heavy hitters will always be there). Back after 3 years... My original review says the total opposite of what I am about to say... :) I Ramen is delicious- I highly recommend you try it out . Take out service was great. My order : shrimp ramen , Chicken Ramen and Pork Ramen. My favorite one was the Shrimp Ramen ; it came with 8 Large shrimp and the broth was over the top delicious . My second favorite was Pork Ramen followed by chicken ramen . No need to drive to convoy for Ramen anymore - just found you delicious Ramen at Otay Ranch - Millenia community! The only thing I would change at Okama is the bright LED white lights and wall color because it is too much red, for me ... warm lighting color bulbs would make it feel more welcoming - IMHO Will return soon for more shrimp Ramen !! read more

My guy and I randomly stopped here as we were in the mood for sushi. Staff was nice. The aesthetics were kinda weird tho. There was a small tv playing UFC, early 2000s pop music playing, fancy menus, and a bit of Japanese decor scattered on the walls. Most walls were very bare with the paint job being very badly done. Nice table setups, but the chairs looked old and crappy in comparison. Anyways, food. We started with the Fuji Appetizer with no mayo. They brought it out incorrectly the first time. I had to explain to two workers we wanted no mayo, but to keep the eel sauce. They had to check their menu because they didn't believe there was eel sauce on it. It's 95% crab, with barely any octopus or spicy tuna. They smother it in mayo so customers can't tell it's a ripoff. The Okama Roll was the favorite food. It was really good the first few bites, but it had a strong lemon flavor to it. This is weird and confusing cuz lemon wasn't an ingredient listed on the menu. Gives a high indication that they used lemon to mask old fish. Not sure. Hawaii Roll had barely any avocado and it wasn't even fresh. Good, but weak flavor. Traditional Eel Roll was bland and average at best. I know they're under new management now, but they really need to update the place. Fix the wall paint, touchup the scrapes on the chairs, fill the walls, etc. Menu could use an update too. read more

I hope this place learns how to seat people properly. Waited to be seated for about 10 minutes and were not even acknowledged. Servers kept walking past us. Even better it seemed like their staff doesn't know how to move tables around to accommodate 5 people. I was then told by the girl if they put a table together that seats 8 they would charge me a service charge! We asked the girl waitress if we could sit at a table for 4 and pull a chair, she said yes and then proceeded to sit two other parties that came in after us. To make it better they then seat a party of 2 at a table for 4 people did they get charged a service charge??? I really hope this place can hire more competent workers. read more

If I know it would only came with like 5 shrimp. I would've ordered more shrimp in the bowl or maybe added chicken for protein, but the flavor everything was great price wise a little overpriced for a bowl of noodles and four - five shrimp. Been here numerous times for lunch. Food and service is great! They recently changed ownership. I had the filet mignon lunch meal. Some reviews said the food isn't as good now. I disagree. The only difference I noticed was the house salad was larger, with a few sliced cucumbers added. Last December I met my three grandkids here for lunch and bought them each $50 gift certificates. So my mom and I took a weekend trip to Otay Ranch and decided we really wanted hibachi. We picked this place because the menu looked good. We got there around 6:15. I've worked in food before, so yes, I get that Saturday nights can be chaotic, but that still doesn't excuse zero communication. When we were being seated, the server told us hibachi was backed up about 30 minutes. Ramen was also a wait, but shorter. Fine. About 5 minutes later we ordered drinks and a gyoza appetizer. 10 minutes later we ordered our entrées , we changed to sushi rolls and I added a fried rice because we were told hibachi would take longer. 20 minutes go by and the fried rice comes out... but no gyoza. The rice was also clearly meant to be shared, even though I ordered it for myself. We assumed the gyoza was forgotten and agreed not to reorder it. Right then, a couple is seated next to us. They order, and five minutes later their tempura appetizer comes out. Okay. So yes, our gyoza was definitely never put in. We still didn't say anything yet. Then TEN minutes later, the girl next to us gets her hibachi. Meanwhile, we've been sitting there almost 40 minutes, no appetizer, no sushi, and my mom has zero food in front of her. And remember: we originally came craving hibachi, so watching this girl who came in way after us chow down was crazy. It gets worse. Another 10 minutes pass. The server goes to a different table (who had also been sitting with no food) and asks if they still wanted their gyoza. They literally said, "We ordered those like yesterday." The server apologizes and brings them out. Cool. Then she comes back with a SECOND plate of gyoza, puts it down in front of them, and they tell her they only ordered one. So she literally picks the plate up from in front of them, turns around, and just puts it on our table. No apology, no "do you still want these?", no nothing. Just plop , 50 minutes later. Different foods take different times, sure. But 50 minutes for an appetizer with no acknowledgment is wild. If it's going to take that long, just tell us. Check in. Something. We hit the 1 hour mark and still no sushi. So we ask for it to go. And magically, it comes out in like 3 minutes. And considering how soggy and cold the tempura was, we're pretty sure it was just sitting somewhere. We got in the car to finally eat, and the sushi was genuinely the most bland sushi I have ever had. I never use soy sauce because I like letting flavors speak for themselves, and this was the first time I had to drown my sushi in it just to taste something. The only decent thing was the fried rice, and even that was cold by the time we left because I was waiting for my mom's food that never came. I honestly wonder how different this night would have been if we ordered the hibachi we originally came for, you know, the exact hibachi the girl next to us got in like 15 minutes. I hate leaving reviews like this, I really do. But this was ridiculous. So much frustration could have been avoided with basic communication: * "Hey, gyoza is running behind , do you still want it?" * "Do you want your fried rice now or with the sushi?" * Literally just checking in once. Instead, it felt like the servers were avoiding our table because they knew how long we'd been sitting there. Overall: extremely long waits, no communication, cold/unseasoned sushi, and a pretty disappointing experience. We won't be back. read more

Had lots of noodles and toppings. This is a must-try! Stinky Roll - tasted pretty good and would recommend this if you try this place out. Calamari - a bit bland but thankfully there's a sauce to dip it into. Spicy Scallop Roll - we usually like scallops but this dish was not satisfactory, in our opinion. Absolutely ridiculous food preparation and terrible customer service. I don't ever write reviews good or bad but this one had me extremely upset considering the cost and poor quality. We spent $132 on 3 filet mignon hibachi meals, asked for fried rice only, cooked medium rare. When we arrived home the meal had noodles and the supposed filet mignon was very overcooked. The manager said it wasn't overcooked but rather it was well done because the steam heated it for longer in transit to our home. Steam doesn't char steak, over cooking it does. $132 for bland unflavored steak is being ridiculous. The last time we were here was in 2022, right before we moved to Chesapeake, VA. Even with new owners the food is just as delicious as before. I can't tell you when this place opened. All I know is that I'm Glad it did! I've been to Japan a couple times and this place is really reminiscent of those camouflaged hole in the wall Ramen spots in Japan, except this place is a pretty well advertised spot with a small location feeling. There are 12 tables in total, but they are usually now always busy. I've never waited longer than 10 minutes for a table for 4. The service is pretty quick and accurate. The food is awesome! They have sushi, hibachi and Ramen. The flavor is great. I can't say it's the best I've ever had, but I can say it's pretty damn good for Eastlake/Chula Vista. The music selection is a big plus for me. I've heard Wu-Tang, Tupac, and various other 90's hip hop. They also have TV's setup and they have games or anything you might ask for. The staff is usually the same 3-4 people, but those people keep this place running smoothly and efficiently! We love coming here and I think you will too. read more

I ordered the spicy miso with no bean sprouts and replaced the pork with shrimp tempura. I'm personally not a big fan of pork. I love how the spicy miso has a nice kick too it and it's not too spicy! My husband got the spicy chicken ramen. He pretty much inhaled it lol. The broth is flavorful and the toppings added texture. We share the Las Vegas roll too. It was super tasty and spicy. Our daughter enjoyed the chicken kids hibachi plate! It came with sauce and soup. We were most impressed with the service here. We were seated immediately on a cold Saturday evening. The restaurant was quite packed because of the cold weather. Once our order was taken, our food came out in less than 10 minutes! We were pleasantly surprised and loved this since we have a toddler. The employees were very attentive throughout our dinner; making sure we always had drinks and everything was going smoothly. We're excited to come back and support this restaurant!
