I'm from Hawaii and this is my "must go too!" shop in the Fabric District! 1/2 of my wardrobe is from this little store of delightful magic. I love the car wash dresses that are light, extremely comfortable, flow as you walk and is highly complimented. I've got many more beautiful outfits from here that are beautifully worn and reasonably priced. The customer service is amazing!! Mike and Dee are great to work with and Lucy is outstanding!!! I was eagerly desiring buying more car wash dresses and couldn't make the trip to LA. Lucy hung out all the dresses she had, sent me pics which I selected from and she had her son go to the post office to send them to me here in Hawaii. They arrived in under a week. If you love very comfortable clothing that looks amazing, classy, and worn beautifully, OK Mike is definitely the place to go too. Happy Shopping!!

My recent visit was a dress for my mom to wear at her funeral. My sister and I were indecisive for awhile after narrowing our selections down to the top 3. Meanwhile, the ladies were patient and never rushed us as we sat and pondered before finally feeling confident and choosing the perfect gown for our angel mom. Reading through the previous reviews, I can't speak for everyone else but this review is solely based on my own experience(s) each time I visit. Also, know that this location is on the 2nd floor, no elevator and you access it walking up the very many stairs lol.

Instead of feeling welcomed, I felt judged. I was asking about a dress, and an older employee with blonde hair looked me up and down before telling me the dresses wouldn't fit me. I'm an extra small, so the comment was both unnecessary and confusing. It came across as dismissive and unprofessional. The staff also seemed very pushy rather than helpful. While I was there, I noticed other customers asking questions, only to be met with the same unfriendly attitude. Several people ended up leaving instead of continuing to shop. It honestly felt like the store was losing potential business because of the way customers were being treated.

Does Flirt Clothing live up to its name?…read more If you're expecting an inanimate building to ask your name and number, then no. And if you're expecting the employees to ask you "come here often?" before motioning the barkeep to bring you another of whatever you're having, then still, NO. Or maybe yes. Just not with me. Pffft. The clothes are definitely fun and flirty, though -- if you wear them. Flirt is the typical Melrose kitsch store -- one-offs and private labels abound. Not too many jean choices (mostly charcoal gray), and not that many T-shirts, but the ones they have will have you going gaga, lady. What's a boy like me doing reviewing an exclusively girl's store? Well, I have no intention of wearing that off-the-shoulder blouse or sundress (hmm... with the right belt and handbag, I -- nevermind), but the store is definitely a pleasant place, even if you're just waiting on girls to finish trying things on. You can stand there awkwardly listening to the early 1990s era boombox that's pumping out KISS FM all day (Lil Wayne seems determined to make me his fan), or check yourself out in the mirrors on the wall. "Oh you are quite the looker, aren't you..." Anyway, speaking of incredible, psychologically unhealthy narcissism (or not, whatever), the pink-curtained dressing rooms have matching pink folding chairs -- everything in the store has either touches or tons of pink, which sounds like a Hello Kitty nightmare but is actually kind of cute in a flamingo-pecked-my-eyes-out way. When you try things on, it's with a soft background of Pepto Bismo, but it does make that hotgasmic pair of koolats stand out in palatial, plaid glory. Sweet Heavens, but you're beautiful. Now close your curtain -- that weird tattoo guy with his tattooier girlfriend can see your thong. Hey, the stuff you're trying on is on sale, too! At least a fourth of the store is half off, so you'll have more money left over to blow on things like shoes, handbags, and rent. Service is fast, friendly, and helpful -- they'll make useful suggestions that aren't lame attempts at plus-selling. Flirt Clothing does lose one star because they forgot to remove a security tag on a $240 hobo bag. Now I'm going to have to come back tomorrow -- with receipt -- to have them remove it because SOMEBODY'S too busy (*cough* gainfully employed) to do so herself. I'm going to play like it's mine. It looks cuter on me anyway :-)

This is a nice store that carries clothing and accessories that you probably won't find at most…read moreother clothing shops on Melrose Ave. Most of the stores on this street tend to carry the same type of clothing. I bought a beautiful purple scarf with brown leopard spots on it the other day. The material was like that of a soft sweater. It was only $19.00. I could've gotten a better deal on it if I bargained with the lady there, but I didn't since the price was already low. Also, she was nice and showed me how to tie it since I wasn't sure how to wear it. I always leave scarves untied up until now. She showed me and it was easier than it I thought it would be. I really appreciated that. Also, it was great that she could actually break a $100.00 bill. Some places can't. If you're not familair with the area, you might not know that due to lots of competition, sometimes the shop owner or manager will give you a discount on clothes and other items if you ask them for one. Sometimes they are so eager to sell, they just offer you a good deal. I didn't want to appear cheap though, so I didn't bother asking. It was also nice that she didn't bug me or follow me around like a lot of the shop employees tend to do sometimes. This is a great place and I'll come back here next time I'm in LA.

Okay, so I don't know really how to star this place because there are so many different ways to…read moreapproach it. Honestly, I feel like people who would shop here are not going to Yelp to assess it. But, I couldn't help myself because it is quite possibly my weirdest experience of a store ever. On point style and brands / General weirdness and curiosity: 5 stars The moment you walk in you know that you are in a "seriously cool place". This is a place that people in the know go to impress upon themselves that they are cool. It is by far one of the most LA places I have ever been. It is owned by Paula Russo, the old fashion director of Maxfield if that helps to place the style for you. It is has an amazing amount of hip-girl jewelry, which was probably my favorite part. It is the epitome of a curated space. Everything about it seems to be the height of intentionality. I recommend going if only to just experience its aggregation of interesting things. If you like Dover Street Market, Collette, 10 Corso Como, then you should definitely make a stop here. Prices: 0 stars - Like seriously insane Okay this place is hilarious on pricing. Like 30k markup hilarious. I loved the mosaic table in their main showroom and asked about the designer. I then started to do some research. That table is listed as $32,500 on their website. I was like okay, fair enough. Then I found the EXACT SAME table on live auction for $2,750. It seems that Just One Eye bought this table and then was like "these rich Hollywood people don't understand what Google is; let's mark it up by a billion percent." Go to the actual artist, Massimiliano Beltrame who lives in SF and get it custom made. It was a serious LOL moment. All of their stuff that isn't a fixed MSPR is like that. I know that Just One Eye is currently famous for the 55k backpack, but honestly that isn't off-putting to me because it is a collab with Damien Hirst and to be expected. There is a difference between selling high end products/art and just making markups that are aimed at people with more money than sense. I am down to pay thousands for a handbag, but not if I know that it cost them say $500 and I am paying a $4500 curatorial fee. https://new.liveauctioneers.com/item/30470167 http://justoneeye.com/missimilianobeltrameeyemosaiccoffeetable.html Art: 5 stars So I feel l like I have to give this a 5 stars because there is some serious blue chip art in here. They have a Sterling Ruby painting that is to die for (recall his art in Dior and I?). The Murakami in the men's dressing room is not to be missed. That being said, it is a bit flat on taste as a collection. It is the stereotypical stable of art that you see from people who have a bunch of money and want to park it somewhere. Like it hits each of the bullet points, but it is not discerning, surprising or interesting. Honestly, if you told me their curator is Kanye I would believe it. But, as someone who loves stores like Collette in Paris, I feel like I need a bit more from a collection than a splash of wealth. Staff: 2 stars They are nice in a sort of hipster-ly inattentive manner that I enjoy because then I don't have to deal with them. That being said, when I did have questions for the saleswoman literally knew nothing. Like absolutely nothing. I had some questions about the art, and she knew none of the artists at all. Like how do you work around a bunch of multi-million dollar art that is the foundation of this concept store and not know a single of the artists. Well, you say, they don't sell the art, so maybe she focuses on the stuff they do sell? Nope. She didn't know any of the jewelry designers either. Selection: 3 stars They have a bunch of cool stuff, but they don't really have various sizing. It seems like a place not to buy thing but to get inspiration. Atmosphere: 4 stars It is in Howard Hughes's old building, and I love the art deco feel of the place. I also sort of love the whole concept of multiple rooms that you float to one by one. It is the opposite of open concept which is sort of refreshing. I hope this is a helpful inaugural review of Just One Eye.

Once inside, the displays were beautiful, but the overall feel was a little hostile, and it seemed like the staff were just watching everyone's every move. I wish the looks had been in a museum instead because I genuinely could not relax in the store. And everything for purchase was well beyond my means so while it was all very beautiful, I wouldn't come back unless there was another mini exhibition like this.
