I've been looking for a clean, professional dry cleaner for more than 2 years since my original one lost her lease. So I searched THE YELP to see what I could find. Happily, OK CLEANERS had mostly high ratings. So off I went with mounds of clothes. My immediate impression - this place is CLEAN so it MUST be well managed. Phew! I LOVE A CLEAN dry cleaner...I can't really trust one that looks like a pigsty - believe me, they exist. (And why are they still in business? Maybe it's just me). Once I arrived I was welcomed with smiles and engaging personalities - making me feel right at home. That tends to goes along with people who respect where they work and the person that manages them. This laundromat is absolutely fantastic for either doing your own laundry or having them do it for you. I thought I was fussy and was reluctant to have my laundry done by anyone other than me, but I need to tell you that I was completely wrong and not nearly as fussy as I thought and as they are. The clothes are immaculately clean and folded perfectly. It was so obvious that such care was taken and it felt so good....and my laundry was done. I will be back regularly. They were open and not only able to help hem my dress, but do it in such a quick turn around for a great price. I wish I got the name of the man who helped us but he was such a kind soul. AMAZING TAILOR! A hard tailor is hard to find. Hidden away in a cleaners in Inwood / Wash Heights, David has an excellent eye for detail, knows what alterations will be flattering and is great on the sewing machine and with hand sewing. He can tell you how the fabric will fall after an alteration to avoid an awkward fit. David knows how to take-in dresses that are too large, shorten hemlines and let-out clothing that is too small. He is honest about what is possible and has sound judgment. For basic alterations (shortening /hemming pants and dresses, taking in the waist of dresses to fit tighter, adjusting the shoulder /sleeve opening in shirts, this spot should be tour go to. I'm not sure what else more complicated he can do (because I've never had the need to bring anything there) but I'm sure he'll be honest about what he can and cannot do. Found this place when I was walking through the neighborhood, which is great because it's only a block away. I dropped off my suit yesterday so it could be pressed by Saturday afternoon. They said the suit would be ready by 5 PM on Saturday. Less than an hour later, the lady, who's very friendly, called me to tell me it'd be ready a full day earlier. Great service for $6.75. Edit: They pulled a thread on a suit jacket sleeve and on a pant leg. I don't know how that happens, but it's annoying. I'll give them a second try and warn them to be more careful with my garments. Suits aren't exactly disposable. read more

I googled this place to see if they could alter the clips on my fur coat. They did it a good job and putting in some great reinforcement buttons. They did it within a few days and was able to wear my fur coat out for New Years Eve. I will definitely go back. read more

Besides doing a great job with washing and dry cleaning, when I have done the laundry myself, they have been very nice about helping me. Also they have an excellent seamstress for alterations and repairs. I was grateful to find her because many places do not have people who are very good. They are also expensive. Take my laundry here for wash and fold every two weeks. They do a great job and always have it the next day. The only thing is, it is expensive - I have around 16 pounds and I end up paying $20. They don't do delivery, which is difficult to carry back and forth. I wish they did. But the people are nice! read more

I feel that anyone who does not give this place 4 or 5 stars, does not know how to explain to a cleaner what they need. For example, a previous reviewer said that Ok Cleaners burned his/her shirt from "Dry Cleaning"... um impossible. Ok Cleaners is the best place in upper manhattan to get a great service at a great price. FYI - (as most uptowners would know) at any other place, when a customer says "Dry Clean" the business "Launders"- aka "Wash and Press". So, it is nice that when David does my clothes, they are done right. read more

Excellent neighborhood laundry and dry cleaning. I've brought countless loads of laundry for wash and fold here over the last 2.5 years and it's the best I have experienced in my 12 years in NYC. Dry Cleaning has always been on time and performed well. I brought the entirety of my winter clothes and they did a great job. I don't think they do the dry cleaning work on site but that's ok as long as everything looks great. So far so good. read more

WORST DRY CLEANER IN TOWN. IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR CLOTHES, PLEASE DO NOT GO HERE!! NEVER been to a dry cleaner who does not know the basic of fabric. I took ALL of my winter clothes to get them dry cleaned... and the results... VERY POOR. SO VERY DISAPPOINTED. AND LITERALLY HAD TO THROW AWAY MY CLOTHES. They BURNED all of my wool clothes: Blazers and suits. SHRUNK all of my wool sweaters: I have NEVER seen them SO STRETCHED OUT and IRONED SO FLAT before. Some of my scarves that were shaped and/or had pleats in them were ALL IRONED OUT. My cream ruffled scarf turned into a 4ft. long useless scarf. Lastly, I took my navy trousers to the cleaners that needed to be hemmed. I even marked the length of the pants with a safety pin so that they can easily hem it. Couple of days later, OK Cleaners called me that the pants were hemmed and were ready for pick up.. Since I have been a VICTIM of this place, I hurried up and tried my pants on as soon as I picked them up. The results.... WHAT THE HELL. RUINED. EVERYTHING. I am SO MAD about the fact that they decided to DRY CLEAN the pants and SHRINK them in the heat AND FADE out the navy color of my trousers. It is obvious that the length of the pants HAVE NEVER BEEN TOUCHED what so ever. NOTHING was hemmed and were only DRY CLEANED. How do I know that they dry cleaned it? OK Cleaners have their own dry cleaning technique... aka leave starch marks on clothes (especially Blazers and Coats), stretch out everything, and makes sure that the garment is FLAT and CREASED as possible. Total amount of clothes that I took to OK Cleaners for dry cleaning = 52 Total amount of clothes returned in "OK" shape = 0 Total amount of clothes ruined = 52 People who should go here = NADA! read more

They've ruined a couple of things between my husband and I. We stopped taking our dry cleaning there even though it's the most convenient to our apartment after the last batch had a large soap or adhesive stain on the back of a white button down shirt. When I brought the shirt back, the guy behind the counter implied that I had worn the shirt and gotten the stain myself. Ugh. Too bad bc they're decent and convenient. read more

I've been here for dry cleaning, laundering & tailoring, everyone is so friendly! They always do a good job. For tailoring I brought in a dress with 3/4 length sleeves, and I wanted the sleeves removed so I could wear to a summer wedding in hot & humid Hawaii. The tailor/seamstress did an AMAZING job, and the dress looked better sleeveless. The price was a lot cheaper than buying a new dress as well. Highly recommended. read more

Overall, the wash and fold service is okay here. However, it is extremely expensive ($1.00/lb, whereas others in the area are $0.75/lb). I also separated my whites from my colored laundry myself and asked them to wash/bleach it separately and they charged me $10 (the mininum charge) for the small bag of white clothes, aside from what they had already charged me for the colored clothing. The other places in the area will both separate and bleach your whites for free. So, if you like overpaying for services that are offered for 25% less just a few blocks away, check it out! read more

I live across the street and this place is perfectly situated for me to use frequently-no more! I brought in a woman's shirt to be washed and pressed. It did not have fancy buttons or a strange cut. It is smaller than a man's, and is pink. They could not offer me the same wash and press service they do for men because my shirt was a woman's cut and not a man's. They insisted all they could do was dry clean it (for about $8 more). Then they forgot the order, and it wasn't ready when I needed it. Today, I came in to do some laundry and had a similarly disappointing experience. The washing machine I chose to use only added water if you used the Colors setting. There was no sign indicating this was the case. I came back twice over an hour to find it still rocking gently as if it had come out of a spin. Finally I asked. Not only did the machine only work on the Colors setting-the girl who knew this information had been there the whole time watching me check back and wait. She said nothing. When I took my clothes out after they had washed (over 1 1/2 hours later), the water was ice cold. I will never come here again. read more

worst customer care for anyone that cares about their laundry especially dry cleaning. Living uptown can be lovely but the price you pay for any quality of customer services is below dismal. The manager refused to give me change for dimes and nickels converted into quarters even after I spent $40bucks in one shot..he made no apologize and didn't try to make it better in anyway..(in other words, leaving us that live up here to HAVE to experience this level of business from those we rely on)....thus making me turn back around to drop my clothes back off my apartment so that I could look for a bank willing to make the change for Ok cleaners business..A month later, I return for dry cleaning happily dropping it off, and wondering if I will be disappointed, I trust they will do a good job...but when I returned to pick up the dry cleaning the following two weeks, I was shocked to see they merely pressed it and had wrinkles all through my pants. His excuse is that it drooped since it sat there for two weeks, and it was my fault for not picking them up! Not to mention, the pants were not clipped front to back.. nor tissue used to support it, nor were they pressed in the seems, they were given to be flat. Anybody that knows their drycleaning, pants have to be sat front to back...Not as was delivered clipped at both left and right. It was obvious because the patron next to me give a scowl just as well....so was I being punished for speaking out from the last incident with the dimes and nickels? He then informs he will not re-service me for the pants that came back wrinkled and If I could post a picture on yelp, I would... As a long time Costume designer, I have a great respect and rely on the work from dry cleaners and I have used expensive and less expensive places, however, it doesn't matter. I expect to have my clothing and those of the actors wearing them to be cleaned with proper professional solutions if I am going to pay for it. I think its up to you to decide..but this manager/ owner does the LEAST possible effort to provide a service. Last note, the big industrial machines are not using ANY HOT water in presoak nor post throughout its washing cycle....and it has been my experience that of all of my clothes have all turned out dingy grey and never white! read more

They get my business only because they are the only laundromat in an easily walkable distance to my apartment. Half of their large washers are always broken and the small washers never put water in during the wash cycle (it's infuriating and I think they do it to save on water). Their drop-off is way too expensive. I hope a new laundromat opens up soon in the neighborhood to bring some competition. read more
