We took our hard earned money to the Thai place down the street where the service, food, and appreciation for the customer was top notch. We spent £120 on a fantastic dinner with them instead. Your loss, grump lady!

The restaurant is vibrantly decorated, take a moment to look at all the photos in the frames on the wall as there are some lovely pictures. The menu is only a page long, but the saying 'it's quality, not quantity, that counts' certainly rings true for this place. Lolita kept reiterating that the food was home made (unlike many of the other local places nearby apparently) and she carefully guided us through the menu making suggestions as she went. We ordered 5 tapas dishes and each one was delicious, especially the MASSIVE langousites in lemon and oil (which were only £6 for 5!). AND, the house red wine was the best house red I've ever had. The couple who run it were charming and friendly, with just the right amount of attention you want during dinner. At the time of visiting, they were only accepting cash, but they said they were looking into possibly taking cards sometime soon. There's a cash machine nearby if you get caught short. This place has only been open for 8 months, but if our experience was anything to go by it's a very promising beginning and I wish them the best of luck, I know I'd go back if I'm ever in Bournemouth again!

The quirky decor, though faux, is appealing if you like chandeliers, Victoriana (likely from China), and stuffed stag heads. Music is a quite loud speakeasy playlist. Lots of menu options, from tapas to burgers with a gastro pub range of mains. Nice cocktail list too, and they have a gluten free menu - though sadly, as everywhere else, the only gf pudding is sorbet. Service seems fine, and they serve meals all day from 9am to 10pm, and breakfast is served til 6pm! There are a lot of stairs, though there's a lift to the first floor to get you started. The main restaurant is only open Fri, Sat, Sun in winter, but you can eat in the first floor cafe/bar the rest of the time. There is a third floor dining area with terrace for summer, which we did not explore in January! The food is very serviceable if not exactly a gastronomic experience. We had excellent game stew, with lots of chunky pheasant, venison and rabbit. The promised root vegetables in the stew were a bit few and far between, but it came with champ (mash and spring onion), and was gluten free. Dessert was chocolate croissant bread and butter pud, with fine vanilla custard (for me) and (good quality) mango and blackcurrant sorbets for my GF partner. A rum based espresso martini to finish. So dinner with two courses, and drinks was fifty quid for two, which is pretty reasonable. So, definitely will be back, and we recommend it.

Hidden inside a cathedral, the restaurant really has a unique design to it. I loved the interior!…read moreEspecially having dined in summer, we had the light shooting through the mosaic windows, giving off a warm, cosy ambiance. The food was gourmet but not entirely to my taste. The fish cake my father had was really good as well as the chocolate brownie/cake dessert my mum had was exquisite. The one thing that did bother us was the lack of ventilation which made the open plan kitchen a little unsuited for this kind of spacing. So the whole night we did have the smoky smell accompany us, and made sure it infused into our clothing after we left.

A high arched ceiling and red brick walls offer an impressive backdrop to some excellent cooking. The food is modern and well presented. Each of the starters and mains have a selected list of accompanying sides. Two sides are included in the menu price and I agree with the concept that too many different tastes can obscure the food. I had pea and ham soup with bread and blue cheese which was excellent. Similar to my mother's own recipe and given piquancy with the blue cheese. This was followed by buck breast with a star anise jus and home made chips and a portobello mushroom. The service was also excellent, if I'm honest we kept the staff waiting far too long after dinner and yet there was no hint that they wanted us to move on. All in all an outstanding experience. Not cheap but not expensive, well presented with courteous and friendly staff. I'd highly recommend it.
