I hadn't been to an oil changing service shop in a few years and decided to try the "Oil Changers" on San Pablo Avenue in Berkeley, because it was close to my home in Albany and because it got such good reviews on Yelp. I had my doubts and reservations, but I wanted to go to an oil service changing shop because I didn't want to pay a fortune at a regular auto service shop and also have to make an appointment, miss work, etc..., so I decided I'd give it a try. I was VERY pleased with the service - they were very thorough with the oil change, checking other fluid levels, addressing tire pressure, cleaned my car windows (even though my car was pretty filthy), and noticed my wiper blades were torn. They replaced the wiper blades literally in minutes. They also gave me a discount and the whole process was finished in about 15 minutes at a VERY reasonable price. The price of the change includes free service checks for tire pressure and fluids in-between oil changes (I just went back today for my free tire pressure and fluids check), and all the staff are extremely friendly, professional, and efficient. These guys are awesome! Very pleasant, friendly, and fast. Even washed my windows for me! I wished I had cash on me to leave them a tip! Very reasonable price....just left another spot on University. ...dude tried to swindle me cuz he saw a little lady... wanted to charge me $70..then acted like he was doin me a favor bringing it down to $60. Lol!!!!! This chick is no dummy!! I know how much my oil change is supposed to cost!!!! These guys here...are funny....having are good time with each other....while they work...and didn't treat me like I was stupid. ..and didn't know what was goin on. I really appreciated that alot. Guys are good, cleaned the widows while waiting and even mentioned the Yelp discount.

Great service and fast. I went in for my first oil change today (10 am on a Wednesday) and they were awesome. I was hesitant because of a few sporadic bad reviews on Yelp but I think they must've been exceptions (or just hard to please people). I was out of there within 30 minutes and they were friendly and efficient. The only complaint is I didn't get a sticker telling me when to come back. Rolled in thinking I needed an oil change (partner took it in without telling me) and Shawn sweetly and respectfully showed me that my oil was fresh and that I didn't need it changed. He could have easily just done it and made the sale and I wouldn't have been the wiser. Of course, I felt quite ridiculous but he kindly checked and filled the air on all my tires, went through my car fluids and explained when I should probably come back. He worked incredibly fast, explained everything, didn't treat me like an idiot because I don't know much about cars (he even had to show me where the thing was to open my hood! How embarassing!) Friendly, clean, courteous, fast. They operate like a team of surgeons. Resist the up-sell... take their suggestions, do your research online, and see if you really need the additional services that they suggest. You can always come back if you need them. They check your tire pressure, top up wiper fluid, check your lights and blinkers, and you get to stay in your car the whole time. read more

A fine place for an oil change. Prices are OK and they're quick. The main down side is you have to go in determined to just get the oil change - they're always trying to super-size you. My mantra is "I'll have my mechanic look at that - just the oil change for now." No fries with that, thanks. read more

I went for a oil it had been a while since my last oil change so the oil filter had melt and a piece was melt inside the care so sean the tech work for about 2hrs trying to remove the piece. I went in for an oil change this past Saturday, and had a very bad experience. After waiting for a long time, I finally got the chance to pull my car into the bay. After turning off my car, I wanted to get out it, and was asked by an employee to stay in the vehicle. Then he asked for my registration. The way he talked to me made me felt like I was being questioned by a cop. After he took my registration, he asked me to roll up the windows, while he cleaned the windows. It was a very hot day, and staying in the car with all the windows up was very uncomfortable. Finally I couldn't stand the heat any longer, and got out of the car, and he was like, "Uh, I'm not done with you. Go stand by the yellow pole over there and wait for me." What the h*** man? I'm not your prisoner. Then he came to me, said my oil is very dirty and he needs to flush it for $16. My car is almost brand new and this is only its second oil change ever, and it's under the recommended mileage and months. I am sure that was unnecessary. Finally, the sticker he put on my windshield was 3 months and 3000 miles before what it's supposed to be, as I opted for synthetic oil and the next oil change should be 6 months/6000 miles later. Is it a scam? I would not recommend this place to anyone! read more

i received about the worst service, and the worst actual experience, possible from this place. first of all, they overfilled my oil, which caused damage to my EVAP system. then, they denied that they caused the problem, and i went through 3 managers before realizing it was going to take a lawyer to get any money out of these people. and they were complete jerks about it, arrogant and couldn't care less about my business. go to purr-fect, they're just up the road, are super friendly and knowledgeable, and will actually take care of your car. read more

Joshua and Daniel really helped me out here. I had never paid any attention in the past to anything but the oil needing to be changed. However, they pointed out to me the importance of changing the transmission fluid at every 60,000 miles, the coolant every 30,000 miles, and the power steering at every 30,000 miles. I was overdue on all three. I had gotten the oil changed a few weeks ago but had remembered them telling me about the the transmission fluid needing to be changed. I happened to be in the area and decided to stop by and take care of it. Good thing I did. I would like to get another 10, 15, 20 years (if possible) out of my 12 year old Honda since I really don't drive much other than to work and grocery shopping. Since I have a strong mistrust of the car dealers, I never go to them for any maintenance. The last time was a few years ago at a Honda dealer. The next thing you know, I was out of a few hundred bucks for this that and the other thing. I found an auto repair facility through a friend of mine who used to do major auto repairs. Now, I have a contact for a great auto shop which I use for my major car problems (and he doesn't rip me off) and I have Oil Changers for all my car fluid needs! read more
