We hadn't eaten all day and were starving. Plus it's an hour drive to get here. We could tell they were crowded from the parking lot but oh well. It's a Friday evening at 7 pm. They took our name down but didn't give a time estimate. We sat outside under the tornado wind fans and picked up some drinks from the bar. Coke for me, tea for mom and a beer for my husband. After about 30 min, we had a table ready. The chef show of smoking outside was getting nauseating. This is where things went south. Our hostess gave us our silverware and menus annnddd left. Empty drinks sat on the table while ice just kept melting. My husband was able to flag someone down to get a drink but she ran off before asking me or my mom. Our waitress finally came to the table and took our appetizer order. She thankfully came back to get our food orders but still no drinks. Now, have you ever heard of island time? Well thats what were on except the music was extremely loud, tables were hooping and hollering and we were stuck sitting in our wicker chairs. The appetizer took about an hour to come out. The fried pickle batter slipped off like a batter stealing base. And some parts of the batter were still undercooked. After that, I noticed the table next to us kept waiting for their bill. They had asked several times. They finally went to the bar after approximately 45 min. My mom started to ask if they forgot us. We still had no drinks by the way. I was willing to drop a $20 and leave. We stayed. Our food came out around 9:30 pm. The French dip so was good but waiting 2 hours good. Im not so sure. We were trying to get to go boxes but ended up having to go to the bar for the boxes and to pay. They were already clearing the table by the time we got back and we had left our stuff there so we could also use the restroom. We just quickly packed our food and went outside to use the bathroom. They women's is a one stall. Not the best. Not the worst. It did its job. Will we be back? Hard to say. 3 hours for food, almost no service and no refills.

Has a diner like feel with green vinyl booths and pub lighting. There is a separate sports bar type concept across the hall from the regular restaurant. Very much a basic grill and sandwich type of place. They have cheeseburgers, various types of breaded/fried chicken, steaks. Ham and turkey sandwiches and hoagies. They have lunch plates serving up things like honey sriracha salmon, chicken tenders, fried shrimp, etc. Apps include cheese sticks, jalapeño poppers, ahi tuna. They have a setup where you can do their salad bar, soup and salad, soup and half a sandwich, and various types of prepared salads. They have daily specials as well, which is what I ordered from. I had the bacon pimento cheeseburger medium, and it was cooked appropriately and well-seasoned. The pimento wasn't quite melted, but was still pretty good. Bacon was perfect. Large portion and I only ate half and took the other half home. The fries were fantastic! My meal cost without tip was 21 dollars, and I consider that a great deal. Other specials included fried pickle chips, lemon herb cod, blackened chicken Alfredo, sweet potato casserole, California chicken salad. Service was on the southern side of slower, but attentive. My server even got me a Diet Coke in a to go cup as a courtesy, without being asked. Most of my time over the last five years has been spent in New York and other metro cities. Don't walk into this place expecting a Michelin star restaurant. It's a homey rural feel with down to earth people and decent food. Take it for what it is and enjoy the kitschy southern atmosphere.

I had the Cajun fries and my wife had onion rings. The shrimp was huge and delicious. The buffalo wings were great. The scallops had been cooked in old oil, so they were just OK. My Cajun fries were just plain steak fries, and the onion rings were from packaged frozen rings, a little dissapointing. We also had the fried pickles for an appetizer, and they were wonderful. The massive stained vertical poles interior with large diameter shipping ropes made for a fun nautical atmosphere. Our waittress was very attentive. We found the menu very pricy. The two meals, appetizer, and two waters was $58 before the tip. The ambient music was just right, not too loud.

Despite the looks from the outside, the restaurant is really well designed on the inside and is up to par with any other BBQ place you might stumble upon. The prices are fair and the service is pretty good. The staff are always quick to respond and seem well adapted to the Friday night crowds both times I and my partner went. I have to say they nail it with the two meat plate, the portions are just perfect and for the price I always manage to have leftovers to bring to work during the week. The brisket is really good, like perfectly fatty, a little burned (in the right ways) on the side, very soft and fluffy, and just overall really high quality. Their brisket is everything I'd hope for in proper Southern BBQ and they hit the mark. The pulled pork is interesting because the consistency is not consistent. As seen in the photos the first time it was served with a very thick cut, but the second time it was almost minced. I didn't love it the first time, it was kind of dry and nothing special. I liked it a lot more the second time though, and it went well with the BBQ sauce. I'm really not sure what happened to the Texas toast, honestly, the first time it was pretty good and, well, toasted, but the second time they just did the thing where they give you an uncooked piece of white bread which was sort of a let down. The max n' cheese is hit or miss but I loved mixing it with the minced pulled pork which made up for the significantly depleted amount of cheese the second time. I liked the green beans, nothing to write home about but a good side. The fried corn was solid, and a good choice if you like something on the saltier side. Overall, great restaurant with pretty good food.

And I mean just that. Ordered 2 potatoes and 2 rib sandwiches. Potatoe portion size was a tad smaller than usual but to my surprise the brisket was alot drier than usual. I understand now why they gave me 3 containers for each plate and it was to remoisturize it. I dont complain but this was not up to par at all. The Rib sanswiches were an absolute joke... Both sandwiches featured the small ends from a rack. again DRY. and i mean DRY DRY DRY. to the point where I went to separate the meat from the bone and you could hear the meat break leaving sharp edges of overcooked meat. I wish I took a picture of this before throwing it all in the garbage. Being a hometown BBQ place you need to stand out from the competition and That may just be the problem there's no other competitor close by so the quality can be substandard and there's nothing to compare it to.
