There are quite a few negative reviews on here regarding Ohms Electrical. I cannot speak on any of those situations, but for us, Omar and his entire team have been wonderful. They take their time explaining situations to us, repair issues at a reasonable rate, and even dropped what they were doing and rushed over to our house when I reported being electrocuted in our home, which is an hour away. Unfortunately the situation in our home is continuing, but four other electricians have been stumped as well as to what is causing the random electrocutions. Of all of the electricians we've had thus far, Omar and his crew have uncovered more of the issues, tested electronic equipment for leaking power and has shown genuine concern and empathy for us. I would recommend Ohms to anyone based upon our experiences with them. read more

I noticed there's a lot of bad reviews on here and I noticed there's nothing but five stars on Google. From my own personal experience, this company works above and beyond in every aspect of the job. He even came during an emergency event where he didn't even know me as a client and I needed an electrician so bad and he came immediately to help me. I've dealt with a few electricians with owning this home and he is by far the most exceptional and great person to work with. I feel like he's very fair in his pricing and he doesn't try to take advantage like a lot of electricians do. He has great customer service he keeps you up-to-date with what's going on with the job before the job starts during the job process and I trust him and his company completely and anyone saying otherwise is honestly lying. Plus His work is super clean. My husband loves his work. I love people who do clean jobs and do it nice and neat and he is very neat with his work. read more

I cannot say enough good things about Omar and his staff that performed the work at my home. Omar came to my house, provided an estimate in a timely manner and after I gave a deposit for the work, it was performed in less than a week. His crew was neat, efficient and very polite as the work that I was having done involved soffits under my kitchen and wiring through my garage that needed to be snaked and brought through the other side on my kitchen. I wasn't sure whether to write this review, but I've been pretty disgusted at seeing some of the owner responses to other customers on Google who had bad experiences. They're full of personal attacks and if I'd read any of those, I would never have gone with this company. Things started OK with a panel replacement and a 240v/30 amp line to the garage for charging. I was told the job would take one day, but they didn't finish on the first day. I was told they would return the following day and finish, but they didn't return until 4 days later after the weekend. Not really a major issue, but the start of a pattern. The panel looked good, although there were no labels to help us know which circuits were controlled by which switches. A few weeks later, we wanted to have the home re-wired top to bottom, replace and move outlets, tidy up wiring in the basement, fit a fan to the porch, outlets on the porch, outlet for a washer/dryer on the ground floor, rip out and re-wire the attic and replace light switches throughout the house. They provided a quote to our contractor and a date to show and work. They were initially supposed to arrive on a Thursday, didn't show, then the following day, no show, and then a week later Omar showed up and asked for another walk through to confirm the work, which resulted in a 10% increase in price. Again when they showed, I was asked to do yet another walk through and confirm work, and the price went up again. When they finally arrived on site, I took time off work to try and figure out what was actually going to happen. First off they blamed my contractor for the confusion over the dates, and then asked me bluntly if I'd paid for them to come when they said they should, as though punctuality was an extra charge. The conversation got quite testy, and looking at the responses from the owner of the reviews below, I now know why. He got annoyed with me questioning the prices increase and things missed form the scope, and threatened to leave and take his crew with him, deleting the rest of the work by weeks. I had no real choice other that to accept the price. In the end, I just wanted the job done and them out of my house ASAP so agreed (again) to pay extra for things they had been told to do already. The adventure wasn't quite over yet, they installed a porch light that was damaged (by them) and crooked. They didn't replace the one light switch that clearly had an electrical fault (often buzzing and sparking when switched on), covered outlets with tape that were not screwed in properly, left some outlets not connected at all, and put a cover on an outdoor outlet in such a manner, it's almost impossible to use without getting on your hands a knees. I needed to install an EV charger, they had great service with a good price and completed the installation quicker than I anticipated.

Non reliable, non trustworthy. They attract you with a "low" quote and then keep on asking for more. They are not on time and do dangerous work. Pls see photo below. This is 11 months after the house was entirely re-wired. This could have started a serious fire. AND they did not honor the warranty agreement we had for one year. They simply ignored my text messages and calls, even though my tenant had lost heat and hot water in cold temperatures. Unacceptable. PS: and believe me, I am a pretty easy going customer. Omar and his crew did a fantastic job on my project. They showed up on time. The work was an all day project with new panel upgrade to 200 amp service which Omar is licensed to do, grounded the house, installed new outlets to my laundry room for my new washer and dryer and installed a new light fixture. They also installed two waterproof outlets for Christmas lights. Would definitely use again and have already recommended them to a friend. read more

If I could give this company 0 stars, I would. They were hired to do a huge electrical job in my house simultaneously while my home was being remodeled. They were late everyday- and not an hour late, EIGHT HOURS LATE. They would come around 6PM and stay for an hour, doing minimal work, which usually wasn't even done properly. My husband and I went on an overnight trip, and we came back to our electric breaker having the door ripped off of it, with the wires completely exposed, creating a fire hazard and a hazard to anyone who makes contact with it, AND they would leave all of the receptacles open and dangerous- mind you all, I HAVE A 2.5 YEAR OLD AND TWO DOGS. While we were away that night, these electricians also left our refrigerator plugged into an outlet that they had not fixed properly, leaving our refrigerator off for over 24 hours. When we fired them, the electrician came in to "get his tools", and we found him climbing into the ceiling of our bathroom to UNHOOK something he had done (something that had been paid for). We had to kick him out and threaten that he had trespassed. He told us "good luck in finding another electrician as good as him", and he tried to accuse us of not having a permit L O L - meanwhile, our permit was even more expensive than normal because we paid extra to use plumbers from Westchester. When our new electrician came and took over (who was fantastic by the way), he told us all the work done in the entire house was wired incorrectly with the wrong voltage and was 100% against code and extremely dangerous. I contacted them to do an estimate for a job and they assured me they would call the person on a Wednesday to set up an appointment for the next day. Friday I get a phone call that they never called nor showed up and when I called them to ask them about it they told me that their administrative error wasn't their problem and the soonest they could get out was the following Thursday and didn't even offer an apology. I would never recommend using them if they can't even show up to an estimate let alone would I trust them to do work on any of my properties. read more

They forgot or didn't properly plan to arrive at my house for an estimate appointment. But they did come that day, 1 1/2 hours after original appointment. The service man was very knowledgeable and I felt confident moving forward with the company. I was told an estimate would be emailed to me within 2-3 business days. If I could shout from the rooftops to not use this company I would. I will say that there was one electrician Taylor that was great but other than that the worst experience. His other guys left lights on and windows open some that had no screens and left the trap door to my basement open when there was a rainstorm. Omar the owner was so nice in the beginning made a pass at me which I politely turned down and wanted to talk business but after this he was continually rude took no responsibility for his men for leaving lights on and windows open (also to add context the house is being partially renovated so it's empty and there was a lot of tools from my contractor inside so that could of been stolen). After all this the work I paid him for is not done even though to him 1600 is petty money and I'm broke and could never afford him and he did me a favor. What a joke don't even bother with this guy way more of a headache than it's worth. If I could give a -100 for a rating I would because this one star is because Taylor was a nice guy and did a good job read more

I'm a volunteer for a City of Poughkeepsie based non-profit that provides food services to the needy. Our dishwashing maching at the soup kitchen was broken, and Ohms was the only City-licensed electrician to call us back, and they came out immediately to help. They even worked past normal hours, without charging a huge fee. They helped get us back on track quickly, efficiently and economically--the latter of which is truly important! read more

This is one of the worst electric services I have ever come across and I have been in contact with lots of electricians thru my life. I run a small business and needed help with rewiring for new equipment. I showed Omar (owner of the company) around explained everything needed to be done including emailing him a full detailed spec list of plugs, wiring and outlets needed for what equipment, this was on a Wednesday. Omar promised to write back an estimate and come in Friday to do the job. Friday arrived, a had not received an proposals of any kind as of yet and when arriving over 30 minutes late walking thru the door is not Omar but a "friend" of Omar who says he is here to make an estimate (not actually get the work done). At this point I am perplexed but start all over again I carefully explain everything to him, showing him all the work needed to be done, the machines, explain the situation all over again and show him the spread sheet of necessary things I had previously emailed Omar. He stays for about 2 hours and says he will get back to me with a estimate, which he ends up doing at at the end of those hours and says he can start working on Monday. Im a bit at dismay at this point as we can't reopen our business nor install our machines until this work is done but I say ok, see you first thing Monday morning. Monday comes around Omar walks in the door around 9am (an hour late this time) and still at this point seems unsure and unaware of work needing to be done and how to do it. I am at this point really frustrated but start puling out the spread sheet I had showed both him and and his friend days ago...explaining it all over again...explaining what machine is going where and which outlet is going where...Omar turns around and says he can't no longer do the job and walks out. I am glad he has done good work elsewhere but to me he and his business is a complete scam. I am beyond surprised and incredibly upset over the fact that he knowing that we relied up on his promised services to be able to run our business still decided to waist almost an entire week like that. I have a house in Poughkeepsie that I was having some work done on. Some one pulled a pigtail from the light fixture & seperated the wires. I had to return to my home in NYC and didn't get a chance to rewire the light so I called Omar. Because the problem was so mimor I never asked for a quote, I figured how expenseive could it be ? $100 ?. He called me at 11.55am to say he couldn't get into the house but my tenant showed up while he was on the phone. He called back at 12.35pm and told me that the problem was as I discribed and that I owed him $350.00 for correcting the problem. I told him that I felted like I had just been robbed & he says "i didn't rob you because I don't charge per hour, I charge per job therfore I couldn't have robbed you. I had to pay him. It's been five weeks & five phone calls and although he promises me he will sent an invoice I still have not received one.To anyone thinking about hiring this guy I strongly recommend that you get a quote beforehand.
