Had a great time attending A Christmas Carol stage play at The Ohio Theater with my daughter. It was a sold out show and the actors did a wonderful job! It was nice to see so many families with their children enjoying this event. The drink vouchers were a nice bonus, thanks a #YELP. #Treat-o'clock

Always an amazing experience to watch a Broadway show in the ohio theater. Loved our recent visit for Harry Potter and the cursed child show. The staff was courteous and helpful.

Tis a beauty of an establishment. Can I say ornate? You be the judge. A variety of acts have been through over the years. Some say they can feel the presence of the ghosts of the dead as well as the living. That's why I liked it.

I've been to the Ohio Theatre twice and both times I had a really great time. I'll start from the beginning. The theatre is located right downtown on State Street across from the Ohio Statehouse. It has an elaborate marquee out front with light up letters that tell what show is currently playing. Parking around the area can be a bit of a squeeze but there are a few parking garages nearby. I don't live far so both times I took a rideshare. They always have security shuffling you across the street in between traffic. A+ for safety. Once inside you'll be blown away by the ornate interior. The entire lobby is gold and the ceiling has a beautiful design, with large chandeliers. The red carpet and curtains all throughout add a certain flair to it. The only thing modern about this lobby is the neon pink sign that reads, "Make it yours, Opera Columbus." The bathrooms are downstairs and there's one bar/concession area with snacks and drinks. As for seating the options include floor seats, along with mezzanine and balcony seats. Both times I've visited I had floor seats and the view was always good. The stage is a good size and neither time did I have issues hearing anything. If you have bad eyes you're in luck because they do have televisions with a closer view for you. I can definitely say that anyone, even if you're not really into theater, should go at least once.

Yesterday my wife and I went to the Peter Pan musical: Pam & I enjoyed the show very much, it was incredible

Late fall 2023 was my first time to the Ohio Theater! And seeing a CLASSIC iconic Broadway production of (drumroll): Mrs. Doubtfire! I had such a blast with a reconnected friend from high school, I went to several more CAPA productions last year. Fast-forward to current time, she's a Broadway season ticket holder and sucked me in, haha! I got a season ticket for this 2024/2025 season, and all of them are at (another drumroll: Ohio Theater! Seeing the season opener, MJ: The Musical, last Sunday, this is a f static venue for performing arts! I will say now, I'm not an experienced performing arts theater goer, so take my review with a grain of salt, but see productions here leaves me with a small feeling of prestige in that part of my discretionary income is going toward a seemingly somewhat dying art form (due to cultural/societal shifts; sad face). Deemed a historical registered spot, the location is perfect: Smack in the heart of Ohio, parking garage and street meter parking around, many great restaurants within walking distance; it's got a lot going for it. I don't know enough about acoustics to say anything on that front. Of the shows I've now seen, one's mics weren't up high enough/working to optimum, but that's not necessarily a result of the structure. Happy theatre-camper, here!

I love this theater so much! This historical gem makes every event and performance feel so magical. It is incredibly well taken care of and I'm excited to learn that the fundraising efforts for the 100-year-old organ have been met. Be sure to look around -- and up! The ceilings are awesome. Wood carvings and details abound through the space. Even the restrooms are worth checking out! Give yourself some time to walk around beforehand, especially if it's your first visit. It's a special place! Outside of beloved holiday productions, one of my favorite events is any Fritz the Night Owl movie night -- we just went to The Lost Boys this past weekend and loved every second! There is a small concession stand off the main area and they do accept credit cards. Candy was $3, wine/beer/cocktails about $8-9, water $4.

The Ohio Theatre is such a beautiful place to go see a show. It's located in downtown Columbus right across from the statehouse. Parking is plentiful in the statehouse garage. You may also be able to find street parking around the downtown area. You can get season tickets or purchase for individual shows. The restaurants nearby are usually busy right before the shows-- a good thing for downtown! The line is usually long going into the theatre, but they always do an excellent job of getting people in quickly. Plenty of restrooms in the theatre-- there are quite a few stalls downstairs that many don't know about.

We were here to see Wicked in late May 2022. My partner bought us tickets and it was such a nice treat. We had not been to a play for a couple years now so it was even extra special. Wicked is such an awesome play. I forgot how much I enjoyed this one. It was the second time seeing it, but that first was pre-pandemic times. I absolutely loved seeing Wicked at the palace and recommend any event here. Parking is available at the Ohio Statehouse underground parking garage. It is personally my favorite and relatively easy in and out. There can be a line in and out but it flows pretty smoothly. Parking is also available at Columbus Commons parking garage. Fun fact, the Ohio Theatre is known as the Official Theatre of the State of Ohio.

Always spectacular. Great docents. Great sound. They now offer headphones for people with hearing impairments.

My family and I were in town In Columbus and we absolutely love theatre and symphonies. We were told the Ohio Theatre in Columbus was absolutely gorgeous, and we decided to check it out and also have an enjoyable night while doing it. We got tickets to listen to the Columbus Symphony Orchestra one night in which they would be playing Schubert's Symphony Number 4. We normally sit in orchestra level, but since we got tickets so late we were lucky to get seats at all, as far away as they were from the orchestra. Parking is actually very convenient, the Columbus Commons Parking Garage is within easy walking distance. One gripe about this theatre is that although it does have an elevator, where its located is not easily marked anywhere. My mother does have mobility issues, and it would have been nice if the location was clearly marked. The theatre itself isn't just beautiful, it is breathtaking! Built in 1928, it is an opulent and classy venue that is palatial in size. It is built in a Spanish-Baroque style that just screams elegance. It even has a 21 foot high chandelier inside where the plays/symphonies are done. Take a look at the pictures, i fell on love with this theatre. The only theatre I have been to, and I have been to many across this country, that comes close to thee elegance of this theatre is the Olympia Theatre in Downtown Miami. The theatre also has a large concessions area that very quickly and efficiently take care of the patrons attending the theatre. It sells snacks, soft drinks, beer, wine, champagne and mixed drinks. My family and I both had some drinks prior to the start of the play. One thing I love which I do not know if I should attribute to the venue or the symphony, was they had a harpist from their Young Musician's Showcase, Tehya Hazelbaker, playing. It was wonderful to have a drink before the show started and listening to an incredibly talented young musician playing the harp! Again, this place is first class! The seating was comfortable, which you cannot say about many venues. One other problem I do think they should improve regards their ushers. They do not have enough of them. I tried looking for one after intermission because I needed their assistance. There was this couple seated in a row near us that spent their entire time talking and being on facebook, which was very rude and distracting everyone around them. I could not find a single usher. Thankfully, the man sitting in front of us told them to stop that during intermission, and we all had a more enjoyable second act. Columbus in particular and all of Ohio should be proud to have a theatre like this one! Truly a highlight of my families trip!

Beautiful theater! Seats were comfortable and the sound was very good. They have various concession areas and many bathrooms down a floor (also some handicap on the main floor). We always park across the street in the Statehouse parking garage. Easy in and out.

This is one of the best local theatres in the Columbus area. My son and I started coming here…read moreregularly several years ago after we were blown away by their production of The Addams Family Musical. Prior to the performance, I had asked several locals about the theatre and was simply told that it was small, hence the name. Thank you, Captain Obvious. So, with not much to go on, my expectations were pretty low. Even so, the ticketing system for this theatre is ridiculously antiquated. To reserve a seat, you have to leave a message on their answering machine. Make sure you have lots of time on your hands when doing so because you will have to sit through a greeting that goes on forever with no way to bypass it. If there is a way, please let me know how. The message will ask you to leave your information and that your call will ONLY be returned if there is a problem with your reservation. I am the type of person who wants confirmation of my reservation. Because this theatre is a good 45 minute drive from my house, I want to feel confident that my reservation is in good order. Not surprisingly, since coming here my reservations have been botched twice. Once, I left my message several days in advance, but It was never received. Last week, my message was received, but my seats were given away to someone else who also (supposedly) had my (very uncommon) last name. Highly unlikely, in my opinion. In both instances, we were accommodated with seats, but I would have been upset had we been turned away. Aside from that hassle, we adore this theatre. Yes it is small and seats less than 100, BUT the productions are spectacular! I was amazed at how much they could do on such a small stage. Choreographed dance numbers, intricate sets, top notch voices and reasonable ticket/concession prices make this historic theatre an absolute treasure in Grove City. I have not seen a bad production yet and I highly recommend the musicals. Tons and tons of talent and not a bad seat in the house!

Our first impression was that the location was good, parking was great, and seating was OK, but cramped. We were seated at a table for 6 and ended with with 2 couples that came together - very nice people. The service was good - keeping my drink full and clearing our places promptly after we finished each course. I knew ahead of time that drinks were a la carte - but I did not know that gratuity for the meal/presentation was separate. My husband and I agree that all should be included in the upfront cost so you don't feel nickel-and-dimed to death. The meal was fine. My husband hated the salad - but I as a more ecletic eater enjoyed it. It was mixed greens with sliced fruit and a light vinagrette dressing. We both liked the main course (stuffed pepper for me and chicken for him). Dessert was rated good by him and OK by me (where can you really go wrong with brownie and vanilla ice cream. A French Vanilla would have raised it to GREAT, but it was OK - good). The storyline was a bit difficult to follow - since audience members could not necessarily be heard in their acting parts and were sometimes confusing in what they said. It might have helped to either select better "actors" or to include more of the storyline in print in the binders. The length was about right. I wouldn't have wanted another "scene" or "act." I really liked the fact that you could get involved and participate as much or as little as you wanted. We chose to watch and not get up and ask questions or interrogate the principal players. The couples at our table milled about somewhat by the end of the play. The mystery was definitely solvable. I won't give the "who dunnit" away - but as soon as it was explained to us who did it and why, I rolled my eyes and smacked my head - I should have picked up on the clues. Would I go again? Yes - IF - we went with another 2 couples that we enjoy socializing with. I know we'd have a much better time and be more engaged. As to the liquor license - as a non-drinker, I'm happy that they don't serve alcoholic beverages. I do think that this type of entertainment is not family-friendly and would not appreciate having children in the audience. We did not have any kids in our seating and would not have thought that it would have been appropriate for a younger crowd.

They did have a nice concession area with plenty of relaxation room, prior to showtime. I must admit that their stage/set conversion process was excellent. The performers quickly stormed the stage, in-between scenes in the low lighting and moved the props and set around flawlessly. With no curtain to disguise this activity, you couldn't help but admire their efficiency. The show was just as beautiful as the movie, with stellar performances from all of the cast, featuring Columbus celebrity anchorman, Cabot Rea. Cabot's acting and singing voice were a great surprise in the role of Henry Higgins. Maybe it was my imagination, but he did it so well, he started to remind me of Rex Harrison, the original actor. The actress portraying Eliza Doolittle was simply adorable and graceful with a truly beautiful singing voice. The sleeper hits came from the characters Col. Pickering and Alfred Doolittle. They were so much fun to watch that you couldn't help but keep an eye on them, even when they weren't speaking. They, just like the remainder of the cast, gave such life to their characters that it was impossible for one to ignore them, even in the background. All of the performers were fun to watch, even after they exited the stage and disappeared to the back of the audience. The music was performed by one keyboard player who I talked to briefly before the final act, complimenting her expertise. She was such a sweetheart who rounded out the entire show beautifully. If you'd like a great time, take a look at their site and make it a point to attend an upcoming show.
