I haven't been able to return to the Drexel after the remodel yet, but I finally made it. I grew up coming to the Drexel to see independent movies and have grown to love the place. After coming in this weekend and seeing the remodel, I love it even more. They play great independent, documentary and foreign films. The new seats are comfortable and the new bathrooms and so nice and clean! Really great upgrade. I highly recommend coming here to watch a film. You feel good supporting the theater, it's got a cool vibe and the remodel has just elevated the experience.

The Drexel is the best independent theater around Columbus. It always has lots of great festivals. There's also the fun movie marathons. It's not big which isn't bad. There's not much of a crowd if there's not a movie festival going on. I like theaters like this a lot more than whatever you can see at a corporate movie complex. It only has three screens, always showing some less popular independent films. The movies are more expensive than at the dollar theater, but the experience is more enjoyable so you get your money's worth. It has yearly festivals like a science fiction marathon. The inside is clean since it's been recently renovated. If you like independent theaters go to The Drexel. It's better than having to deal with some teenage managers at some corporate movieplex. This also has better movies no matter what.

Amazing independent theater, that originated in the last 1930's & has been well kept and preserved. It's my favorite place to see movies in Columbus. The first movie I saw there was Bound in 1996 or 97. Still going strong! Since returning to movie theaters, we've seen both Roadrunner & Candyman at the Drexel. Wonderful place, very special

I love going to the drexel! This place is always so clean and the prices are cheap in comparison to other theaters. Matinee price is $9 and evening is $11. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about movies! They will give you insight into the films if you can't decide which movie to see! They also have combos for popcorn & sodas that's super affordable. The lighting is ambient and the art deco feel makes the theatre feel super special. I recommend coming here to watch films & have an amazing moviegoing experience!

I had heard that people in theaters were singing along loudly to the music and I wanted to avoid that at all costs. I also didn't want to sit near anyone so I wasn't distracted. I liked being able to see the status of seating and tickets sales online and the ability to buy my ticket that way - but wasn't too happy about the service charge I had to pay to do so. Anyways, I got to the theater a few minutes before the posted start time. I waited at the ticket window only to find out that I could go right up to the ticket taker and they would scan my e ticket. Lesson learned. When I got to the theater, I was the ONLY person there. PERFECT. Unfortunately, a bunch of ladies came in right before the previews started and talked loudly through the entire preview screening. I guess that OK as I wasn't watching the previews - I just kept playing on my phone until the movie started. Once the movie started, they shut up and kept quiet the whole time. For those that don't know - Wicked (part 1) is 2 hours and 40 minutes run time - plus the previews. I have a chronic hamstring issue and quickly found out that these seats were not good for that pain. I spent the WHOLE time squirming and readjusting my sitting position as I never found a good way to sit. Yet another reason no one was sitting near me as I would have drove them nuts. In the future, I don't know if I'd come to see a movie here again. I know that Crosswoods has leather recliners and I am able to sit comfortably in them. I had considered seeing Wicked there - but there times/seating was not attractive. The movie experience itself was great. No complaints about picture or sound. The movie kept me engaged and I only thought about how long I'd been there a couple times and was tempted to check my watch - but I did not. However, by the time the movie ended, I was about at the end of my attention span and ability to sit any longer. The e ticket option - now that I know that I can skip to the ticket taker - is quite convenient. Parking was good at that time of day but I know it can be challenging for more popular show times. Food and drink prices are insane so I brought my own bottle on Diet Mt Dew in. Restrooms were good and I somehow managed not to have to use the facilities during the movie - but I sure needed it as soon as the movie was over. Again - location good. I find it easier to manage than going to Easton Town center which is equally near my house. So if you're looking for a nice, casual movie theater with no bells or whistles in seating, this is your place. It just might not be the place for me again, unless somehow my hamstring magically heals. Doubtful since it's been problematic for almost 10 years.

We were attending a 12:45 movie, and the doors didn't open until 12:15. I'm not sure if Sundays always follow the 30-minutes-before-showtime rule, but it's worth noting. The bar area is spacious and open anytime. The theater itself was on the smaller side but still plenty roomy, with very comfortable chairs. Each seat has a narrow table in front for food and drinks, which was a nice touch. The surround sound system was solid. Parking is mostly located behind the building and can be pricey when enforcement is in effect. Unfortunately, the theater can't assist with parking since it's not their lot. The bartender was fantastic--very friendly, explained where the theater was, how ordering works, and answered all of our questions since it was our first time there. We ordered pizza, which came out quickly and was delicious. We tried the Elephant and the Hot Swarm--both excellent. They offer 40 beers on tap, along with cider, wine, and hard liquor. There are also board games scattered throughout the space. I'll definitely be back.

Not the best in technology but it gets the job done. Zero complaints from me. We walked in and there is a bar area to the right. They have everything you could want for the movies. Beer, popcorn, candy and even pizza. I bought a tall beer and popcorn and did not have to mortgage the house. It was $17. Water was free. Thank you! We walked into the theater and they have tables setup so you can sit at and put your drinks and snacks on the table instead of having to hold them on your lap. What a great great idea! The couple a few spaces from us had a large pizza in front of them. The chairs were extremely comfortable and it was the perfect getaway date night. We will definitely be coming back here to see more movies. Great and friendly staff. The two women did a fantastic job helping us.

There is a convenient parking garage located directly behind the theater and if you remember to ask, they will validate your parking ticket for $2.00 (we did not remember to do this so we paid $11.50 for three hours!!). They were showing this film on Halloween night, which was also a Friday night, so the University District was hopping! It was fun to walk around and see all of the costumes and various parties going on before heading into see our movie. Since this was a special showing it cost us around $55.00 for our tickets, but we ordered them in advance and were able to pick the seats we wanted. They allowed everyone inside the theater 15 minutes early, so there was quite a long line waiting once we were near the theater door. We saw others carrying soda and popcorn, but couldn't figure out where the concessions stand was! We were barely able to figure out where to find the bathrooms, so we gave up on the popcorn once the door opened for the movie. Once the door was opened, we went in and found our seats. Very comfy seats!!! We sat in the fifth row, so the screen was higher than our seats, but oh so cozy. The show was fantastic, the live orchestra did a smashing job! Very enjoyable visit!!

We were told staff did not want to "cause a scene," so they made all six of us leave instead and gave us refunds and vouchers. The worst part was that a mall security officer later approached us in the lobby and said nobody had contacted him. He told us he would have gone inside and removed the people from our seats. By then, we had already been refunded and the night was ruined. I appreciate the refund, but AMC should have enforced the assigned seating and contacted security.
