I wasn't a big fan of this salon. the place was nice and clean and looked good online but the nails turned out bad after the polish. They looked clumpy and the lines weren't even and the nail polish mixed together. If I could give a rating of ZERO stars I would. I like to give every nail salon the benefit of the doubt when it's my first visit, but it was really hard for this place. My mom and I needed last minute manicure and pedicure appointments, but our regular place was booked. So we decided to try Oh Nails, which was next door to the restaurant we went to for dinner. My Mom received a manicure and I received a pedicure. Since there were SO MANY THINGS WRONG with the place, instead of explaining-I'll just list them. FYI- I am also a licensed nail technician, so I am VERY aware of sanitation/hygienic laws in Illinois AND notice things that others may not. Pedicure Service -$25 1. No cutting of nails- when I asked the technician to trim my nails short, she said it wouldn't look good and it would be too short. 2. NONE OF THE NAIL TECHNICIANS USE GLOVES WHEN GIVING PEDICURES- NOT HYGIENIC!!!!! 3. The nail technician kept getting up in the middle of my pedicure to help other customers (starting their pedicure water) and coworkers (cleaning used pedicure baths) keep in mind, she was NOT wearing gloves and kept going back and forth without washing her hands. NOT HYGIENIC!!! 4. No hot towel (For the price I'm paying? Really?) 5. When cleaning nail polish from my skin, the nail technician used her long finger nails!!! No nail brush or wooden stick. Not even cotton. HER NAIL! Gross! NOT HYGIENIC!!!!!!! 6. Nail technician forgot to put top coat on my polish and I had to remind her. Not a big deal but i should be relaxing during my pedicure, not watching the technician the whole time. 7. They use plastic liners to line their pedicure bowls and then fill it with water- this is great! However, I noticed that they poke a hole in the plastic liner to release the used water when the pedicure is finished but then they DO NOT sanitize the pedicure tub. They simply just rinse the tub with water and then place a new plastic liner in the tub. NOT HYGIENIC!! DISGUSTING!!! Manicure- $15 1. No filing/ shaping of nails- only buffing. 2.Poor cuticle work 3. No lotion, no hand massage, no hot towel. 4. Poor polishing, which was uneven and didn't even reach the cuticles. It had to be redone after brought to the attention of the manager/owner and they just painted another color coat and top coat over the existing polish. That is 6 layers of polish. Making it VERY bumpy and uneven. None of their tools are autoclaved. They are just soaking in barbicide (blue liquid)- THIS IS NOT THE PROPER WAY TO SANITIZE TOOLS. just because they pull their nail tools out of sanitizing bags, does not mean they are properly sanitized. Do not be fooled!!! One thing I will say: Everyone who worked here was nice...but if customer service is the only good thing about a nail shop and you get an infection from a manicure or pedicure service- is it worth it?? Please, THINK TWICE ABOUT GOING TO THIS NAIL SALON. THERE ARE MANY SALONS IN THE AREA THAT ARE MUCH MORE HYGIENIC AND SAFER FOR THE CUSTOMERS. YOU CAN GET BETTER QUALITY AND RECEIVE SAFE SANITIZED SERVICES SOMEWHERE ELSE FOR WHAT YOU ARE PAYING FOR HERE. read more

I stopped by for manicure. It's been six hours since my manicure and he polish is not dry. When i bump my nails they stick and the polish is viscous and thick. I wonder if they're mixing chemicals in the polish to make it last longer...in this case they added way too much. Disappointed read more

I recently had a manicure (no-chip) and pedicure here. While I'll say that both the manicurist and pedicurist did a really nice job and were extremely thorough, the sanitation here made me really nervous. The tools were in a bucket at the pedicure station and I did see a small cup with sanitation liquid in it, but not all of the tools were being put into the solution. Plus, they are supposed to be sanitizing everything really well after each person. I did not that happening at all. There are far too many things that you could contract at a dirty nail salon for me to every set foot in this place again. I'd rather spend a little more and go to a place that is cleaner and safer! read more

This is my pre-concert stop for the Arcada Theater when pressed for time, which is often. The women have always done an excellent job with a basic manicure and polish. I haven't tried their other services since I don't live in the immediate area. Before a concert two nights ago, I stopped in and my nails went from shabby to fabby in less than 45 minutes. One of the ladies even did an overlay on a problematic split nail to protect it while it grows out, sans extra charge. This was my fourth or fifth visit to this salon and their prompt service and attention is appreciated. My cuticles and nails still look great two day later. read more

I have never had such an unrelaxing mani/pedi. My husband has been gone for military training for months, and I finally found a little bit of time to get my nails done. After being on my own with an infant, I was looking forward to this more than ever! I walked in and they had me sit in a chair. Once I had my shoes off and was all settled in, they ordered me to move chairs. I get settled into the next chair, and the older lady doing my pedicure says she'll "be right back." About ten minutes later she comes back, reeking of cigarette smoke and coughing all over my feet. I was already very unimpressed and it had only been 15 minutes since walking through the door. She did the pedicure, grudgingly, but it was pretty painful. If I winced, she would say, "You NEED IT!" Every time I thought she was finished, she went back at my toe with sharp tools. When she went to paint them, she turned off the massage chair- the only relaxing part about the experience! When it was time to do my nails, instead of putting the no-chip I had on in foils to soak like every other place I've ever been to, she had me dip all of my nails in a cup of acetone! Talk about bad for your skin. Then she scraped it off and took another hour to paint my nails. After two hours, she said, "I hurry so you can get your daughter in time." At least my nails turned out nice. Needless to say, I didn't tip well (but I did just pay $50 for that horrible experience so I didn't feel bad). She looked at the money I had placed folded up at her station right in front of me and said something (surely about me) to her coworkers in another language. They all looked at me as I walked out. Real nice. Way to make a customer feel welcome. I will never be returning. read more

I go to this salon because it's so close to work and they can get me in for a fill with no problem on my lunch break. The nails last long and they do exactly what I ask for. I've gotten a pedicure here before, and the pedicure was great. But I just got a manicure here two days ago, and it was such a disappointing experience. When I went in, I had to wait a little bit because they were so busy, but that's understandable. However, after a 20 minute wait, the girl who did my nails rushed them, massacred my cuticles (I left with my cuticles rougher than when I came in), and to top it all off, she coughed on my hands. A few hours after I left, the polish started to bubble away from my nail bed. A few hours after that, they started to chip. Some of the women who work here are great, but after this experience, I can't justify going back. read more

Lisa, the boss does nails amazing. It's the older asian woman who did my pedicure that was not very nice. Makes you feel like you came in with poop on your feet. Giving me lots of head shakes and groaning about the excessive callus build-up! She didn't even do a very good job. Also, Lisa's husband is a rude jerk! One woman said she could do the SIMPLE design I requested and the woman who did my nails said it was too hard. It was obvious they closed in an hour and didn't want to take the time to do what I wanted. She then stopped half way through my nails to ask me to pay now. Very rude. As of now, my nails are uneven and she cut my cuticle pretty bad repetitively and it is now scabbed and inflamed. While my friend and I were still drying our nails, they asked us to leave, when my friend just started drying her pedicure. I do not recommend this place. read more

I agree with most of the reviewers that some of the ladies are rude and seem to hate their job. Esp the older lady doing the pedicures. If you hate it so much, then quit. I went to Oh Nails for the first time for a brand new Full set. I had one lady clean up my nails then move me to another seat to get my acrylics put on. When i was getting my acrylics done, i told her i wanted her to cut them short. She refused to cut them any shorter than what she already did, telling me that she will file them down instead later on... OK. I also asked for a rounded tip, she told me it looks much better if i only round the edges and leave the top square... OK. Once again NOT WHAT I ASKED FOR. I left really disappointed. My acrylics were super thin, and my nail polish was see through. The NEXT DAY my acrylic on my thumb cracked. Few days later another nail popped off. It wasn't even an entire week before i had two damaged nails already! I went back and she fixed the two for free, i told her that my other acrylics around the edges were starting to lift. She told me "No, thats just what you think, they are fine." I also told her my color was see through... and was told for $7 extra she will repaint them and that she will also thicken my acrylics "next time." THERE WILL BE NO NEXT TIME. read more
