Best poki, hands down. I've been coming 10 plus years. I knew the 1 owner Chris. He sold maybe 2 years back. I know the new owners daughter Angie and she's great. It's like nothing has changed. I come practically weekly if not monthly and I've never had to wait for more than a minute. I've gone to probably 10 plus poki places and that's on the low end, I'm sure it way more and only Oh my Poki and The Poké Place in Rancho Cucamonga are worth it. Obviously price has gone up, price has gone up for every poki/ food establishments. As far as sauces be specific. Absolutely loved this place but the last visit I had was so off putting. The young attendant was not only super unfriendly but she also had her boyfriend in the back of the kitchen with her and we had to wait almost 10 mins for them to wrap up their conversation before we could be helped. Poki Bowl ($17.64): For my base, I got half salad & half brown rice. For my side (you can choose 6), I got crab meat, cucumber, & onion. The other 3 (avocado, extra avocado, & extra crab meat) options cost an extra $1.50. They gave a big portion for the crab meat but I would have preferred more of the regular proteins. For my regular proteins, I chose salmon, spicy tuna, & tamago. The proteins were good but not very flavorful. They gave a small amount of tamago too. For my spice level, I chose mild spicy but it was more like no spicy to me. For the toppings (you can choose 8), I got wasabi, seaweed salad, ginger, furikake, edamame, crispy onion, & crispy garlic. I'm not usually a fan of seaweed salad but this one was good. The crispy onion & garlic remained crispy and were a great texture contrast for the rest of the bowl. I got the regular size poke bowl which comes with 3 different types of fish. Right off the bat, I noticed how small the bowl was. The man packed in the requested brown rice and salad as my base, and basically filled 3/4 of the bowl with it, not making much room for anything else. If you want avocado, it's an extra $1.50 which is insane considering how expensive the bowl is for its size so I didn't get it. The only sauce that comes with the bowl is when he mixed a "medium" spicy sauce to the 3 fish I selected: spicy tuna, salmon, and albacore. I noticed the albacore was mostly seared which made me wonder about the freshness of the albacore or if this is how they prep it in general. I got home, started eating, and the bowl was just bland. I've been coming ONLY to this specific poke bowl place for at least 3 years straight every week for lunch, and since they've raised prices yet again I've had to cut back because my bowl went from around $16 to $23 for the same amount of food. The pricing isn't the bad part though because I'll willingly pay well for GOOD food, but something has changed here. I'm not sure what they changed, but the last two weeks Ive eaten here the food has been terribly bland. I'm a creature of habit so I always get the exact same thing, so when something is off I can tell right away. My go to poki spot in DTLA. Fairly priced and not skimpy with the protein the workers know what they're doing! I switch between the poki bowls and the wrap - both are great honestly. There are so many options and compared to spots like sweet fin this is just so much fresher and better in my opinion. It's located inside the grocery store which is nice because sometimes I grab a wrap and do my grocery shopping. You can also take it to go and sit at the tables outside. The tuna pieces were largely cubed which I appreciated. For toppings, I added the green onion, masago, seaweed salad, furikake, edamame, and crispy garlic. All of which are standard toppings available at any poke joint. My bowl didn't have a ton of sauce or dressing which made it a little dry and flavorless at times. This is one of my favorite lunch options nearby because it's super easy to order online and just walk over to pick it up (definitely recommend this approach because they can get pretty busy at lunch time). Like many other restaurants, they had to raise their prices a bit because of the pandemic, but it's still a pretty good value considering all the stuff they pack into each of the bowls. The large bowl is 5 scoops of fish (or tamago if you want) and then a TON of other mix-ins like imitation crab, seaweed salad, crispy garlic, furikake, wasabi, masago, and a bunch more. You can frequently see cutting them fresh fish behind the counter so you know it's not random left over cuts which you can also tell from the taste and feel of the fish. The fact it's inside the Little Tokyo market also helps because you can just pick up a drink while you're there or extra sides (if you somehow want/need them). I'd definitely choose one of those places over this if I had the option to, but this place still hits the spot for sure. I won't comment on the taste, but I will say the ingredients were super fresh (this includes the salad base!). I also recommend getting at least medium spicy for your sauce if that is your thing! I feel like it's important to note that at Oh My Poki, their albacore option isn't fully raw. The pieces are seared on both sides which I thought was slightly odd. I didn't realize this until I got my scoops because menu photos show only raw pieces. Like many other reviewers have mentioned, this spot is inside the supermarket. Entering through the doors, it will be along the wall on your left-hand side. Parking is validated so bring your ticket! You can pick 3 proteins which I think was pretty great for the price ($9) and they have a good selection of toppings, crab, seaweed salad, masago, ginger, etc. All of the basics. My only complaint is I usually like spicy mayo on my bowl, and they don't have that. You actually can't pick your sauce, you pick a standard of spiciness and they fix it for you. It tasted good, but I like being able to pick. We forgot to get our parking validated so I'm not sure if you actually can, but when leaving the garage we told the attendant that we forgot and she let us out with our receipt.
