It was a grind. On the drive down, a buddy of mine texted me, "You've got to try Kincaid's when you get there." He used to swim at TCU, knew the area well, so I trusted him. First visit, I ordered the Cowboy Deluxe. Bacon, grilled jalapeños, pimento cheese. Took one bite and thought, yeah... this is it. As far as traditional burgers go, I'll say it straight: it's the best burger out there. No question. You can chase the fancy, over-the-top burgers around town, but Kincaid's doesn't need any of that. They just get it right. And honestly, during a pretty lonely stretch of life, that place became my spot. It helped me get through that first month without my family more than I expected.
