Sweet Elevation Bakery - Outside on a dreary day.

Best bakery in the NY capital region. During my time in Albany, I've been to a lot of bakeries. I…read morecame to Sweet Elevation 3 times in just 2 weeks. I don't remember when I had a more perfect chocolate cupcake, each time I've come here, the quality and service are perfect! Consistency and good service is what I look for. The attention to detail, hospitality, and kindness from Christian, the young man who works there, is exceptional. As I wrote before, the bakery shares the parking lot with the Yemeni coffee shop Shibam next door. The Yemeni coffee is just perfect with Sweet Elevation's treats, so don't miss this spot if you visit next door. I hope they can work out on doing something together. I've gotten hooked on Sweet Elevation's chocolate cupcakes. I'm having one as I write this review (these really are the freshest and best chocolate cupcakes) with some Yemeni coffee from next door - who knew how perfectly they go together. I'm very picky when it comes to cupcakes, and these are so soft, fresh, moist, fluffy, with perfect frosting with the sprinkles! Each time! It's really cute inside the cafe. What I'm most picky about is service, and I'm impressed with Christian, he's a respectful gentleman, knowledgeable, and really helpful with recommendations. Responsible, helpful, paying attention, intelligent. People my age often complain about the younger generation, they should meet Christian, our world's future is bright with young people like this. Good luck whatever you do Christian, and may you continue to shine as you do now always! Amen!

I attended a Baptism Reception on Saturday. My niece ordered…read morecookies in the shape of a cross for the occasion. The beautifully decorated cookies were delicious unlike others we have had that look great BUT taste awful. Hard and flavorless, after one bite, they are tossed aside. These freshly made shortbread cookies "melted" in your mouth. The butter flavor was subtle yet easy to pick out. The texture was firm yet crumbly, and they were moist! Many people wanted to know where they were purchased. I attended a Yelp Elite Event at Sweet Elevation Bakery in Latham recently, so I knew it was an outstanding bakery. I knew that they employ FT decorators/bakers for the cakes and cookies. I also learned that their Custom Cookies are a big seller. Businesses and families order them for special occasions.

I tried one of the new $14 salads--no protein, just lettuce, a few veggies, and a so-called "homemade" Italian dressing. I genuinely enjoyed the dressing and asked for the recipe three times out of curiosity. On the third time, I was told she wouldn't share it--but would be willing to sell it to me. That response rubbed me the wrong way. In today's economy, that kind of cold and transactional reply from a small business I've supported feels off-putting and greedy. On top of that, I tried a "tiramisu cookie" that had no coffee flavor, no mascarpone, nothing that even remotely resembled tiramisu. It tasted like a plain sugar cookie, and honestly, it felt like false advertising. If you're going to market something as tiramisu, it should at least reflect the flavors of what you're promising. Between that and the secretive dressing situation, I can't help but question whether the dressing is even homemade--or if it's just bottled and marked up. These experiences have made me lose trust in the brand and what it claims to represent. I won't be returning.

Located off the main road in downtown Saratoga, this small cafe and bakery comes with a big…read morebragging rights to live up to. I first heard about this place when Bobby Flay mentioned it as one of his favorite places to eat in Saratoga. When I heard that, I knew it had to be one of my stops when I was in town. Not only is this one of his favorite restaurants, he even had the chef on his show Beat Bobby Flay. During peak season, it can get pretty busy as the space is small. They don't take reservation or call ahead to get on the list but once on the list they will take down your number and text you when your table is ready, giving you time to wander around other spots to fill the time. So is it worth the wait, heck yes! We went early during Belmont week so fortunately we didn't have to wait too long. We got the zucchini bread platter, lemon ricotta pancakes (as seen on Beat Bobby Flay), and the Saratoga sandwich. The pancakes were so simple yet delicious. The zucchini bread was tasty but a little too toasted/grilled for me. The sandwich was hearty and filling but wouldn't be my go to (not a huge breakfast person). Overall worth a visit especially if you have a sweet tooth and love breakfast vibes in a cute little restaurant,

Seating is crowded, service--while overall nice--was rude when it came to the server we got. She may have been having a bad day, but definitely ended up taking it out on us. Ended up making us feel very unwelcome to the point we decided it was better to try and just get going. The granola was stale alongside the underripe blackberries in the parfait we'd ordered. Had an eye for something sweetly comforting and the food just doesn't match up. Overall, for the wait it has, it's not worth the mediocre food inside. Also, unrelated, but not exactly a place to stop by, get some coffee, and read as you'd maybe look for in a café. So if that's what you're looking for, I'd recommend elsewhere.
