We were always impressed with the view and put this on our list of interesting places. We finally made it this year! The views were beautiful! One of the things we loved about this place, is the fact there are plaques or narrative cards that show what you are looking at with a little history behind it. There are places for you to sit next to the ranger station. A few hikers were enjoying a snack break while we were there. They were commenting on how dusty and dry it was. (the drought of 2025 - for future readers reference) There's not a lot of shade, so prepare accordingly. There was plenty of parking and plenty of trails and views to enjoy! We loved it!

I learned that Salem was the birth place of the National Guard. They had information on the Boston Tea Party, former Presidents, and the history of the area. It was a one of the cooler visitor centers I have been into and I enjoyed it evne though it was a quick stop.

Located in Boston Common is the Boston Common Visitor Center. As the name suggests, it has…read moreinformation about Boston that may be helpful for tourists, such as maps, pamphlets about attractions, etc. It is also a souvenir shop selling shirts, stickers, magnets, keychains, and other typical knick knacks. But most important of all, the visitor center has a bathroom! The bathroom is free to use, but there are only a few stalls, and with the long line up, the small visitor center felt quite crowded. But the line moved quickly and the bathroom was clean. Do note that the visitor enter closes at 4:45pm so if you need to use the bathroom at 5pm, you're out of luck! The staff were helpful and welcoming, and there's a cute gift shop with White Mountain merchandise and local goodies. Public restrooms are also available. It's an easy pull off from the main road and a great first stop to get oriented to the area. There are also stamps here for people collecting travel book stamps. Kathy was especially great, she was very kind, helpful, and very funny. She went out of her way to make sure we had our trip planned out with all our questions answered. They also offer maps in multiple languages, including Chinese, French, German, Japanese, and Hindi and I loved the accommodation. Overall, great stop to get acquainted with the White Mountains!

This is one of Maine's iconic lighthouses that is easy to access by car if you're visiting York, ME…read moreor driving through the area. First, it's pretty for taking a photo or two. You cannot access the island directly, but can view the lighthouse from the parking lot. Second, you can walk down the rocks on the left side and watch the crashing waves. In the summer (we visited on July 4, 2026), it can get quite crowded (the parking lot has perhaps 40 spaces in total). But most people do not stay for a long time. If you are driving to Maine on the coastal route, I would strongly recommend visiting here for a photo after you cross the state line at Kittery!

What a amazing experience. My wife and I went to Portland to visit Maine (we fell in love with it…read morea few years ago and wanted to check out Portland). She searched for things to do and found this tour and I am sure glad she did. We did the biking tour with Don and it was wonderful. Was able to taste some local mead, beer, and rum and see parts of Portland. He was extremely friendly, fun, and informative. I am not going to lie...I was a little bummed when my wife said she booked this tour instead of the earlier biking brewery tour (visit 3 local brewery's as opposed to our scheduled mead, beer, and rum tour). But it didn't matter, it was a amazing experience. In fact, our guide pointed out man local establishments on the tour that we tried the next day (cough..cough..Forage Market) and was amazed; it truly added to our Portland experience. And we have a tour for the next time we come. All in all...6 out of 5 stars for this organization. I wish I was able to post some pictures, but to be honest, I didn't think about it as I was immersed in the moment and enjoying every second of it.
