Just go to a regular salon. I've never had what I would call a good experience here, but I'm okay with being a crash test dummy for students who need people to work on as long the service isn't anything can't be fixed or grown out. Yesterday was different. I'm not naming the student because she is a student and the person supervising her should have paid attention. Parts of my hair were covered in bleach for 4-5 hours because the student was trying out a technique she really was not ready to execute. I did not specifically ask for the technique. The fumes were making me sick, but I couldn't really have my hair half done and I truly thought the instructor would eventually see what was going on and fix it. WRONG When the student finally rinsed the dye and bleach out of my hair (badly and incompletely. I had massive patches of dye on my temples.), she asked me if I was pleased and I told her honestly that I was not, but that I wanted to get the services we agreed to over with so I could leave because I was feeling ill. The student (rightly) called over the instructor. The instructor refused to let things proceed unless I discussed my dissatisfaction. Apparently, you aren't allowed to think sitting in a cloud of fumes for many hours for subpar work is undesirable. I felt so sick by that point I told the instructor I was going to pay and leave. It is not my job to make a student feel better about her failure. She insisted that we have a chat, even as I emphasized that I was ill and needed to pay and leave. Eventually, I had to grab my bag and my partner, who had come to drive me home because I was too woozy from the fumes to get behind the wheel, and head to the reception desk. I told the person on duty I would like to pay my bill and leave, but that I had not received the haircut that was listed on the services for which I had signed. This is where things got fr*udul*nt. The instructor finally came to the front and demanded to talk, again. I told her I was ill and paying my bill so I could leave, again. She had the woman at the desk charge me for a haircut she knew I hadn't received. I was too sick to notice she didn't remove it from the charges. When I called the salon later that evening to make a complaint, I was called "hateful." I said nothing hateful unless the woman at the front desk meant that I didn't have a good phone number to leave for the director of the salon and would need to give her another way to contact me. I think she hung up on me while I was trying to explain WHY calling the number they have on file would be a waste of time, but I can't be sure. I would gladly have given her an email address. This morning, I called the administrator who sounds like a woman who talks to a lot of unhappy people. I told her I was content to pay for the bad service that was actually provided since it was a student, but I did not want to pay for the haircut I didn't get and I thought someone should know that the instructor was trying to detain ill clients and fr*udul*ntly telling the front desk to charge them for services they had not received. Allegedly, I will hear back from her. If not, a chargeback sounds like the only way to resolve this mess. That's unfortunate because I was ready to walk away from the situation until people started charging me for phantom haircuts and calling me hateful. [When the director said she could go back and watch video of the encounter, I just laughed. I hope she enjoys seeing what happens when she isn't there!] read more

I have come here for lash extensions before and they turn out great, so no complaints there. But today at the salon and instructors and even some students are a little bit of a different story. I have NEVER had a stylist tell me that they wouldn't do my hair. I have previously only gone to salons and not the school. My SIL mentioned she got her hair done here and it was cheaper so I thought why not. I do have fine, and medium thickness hair. I went in for partial highlights and a trim. I guess I have some new growth and breakage so they said to not compromise the integrity of my hair that it was a bad idea and wouldn't look good. While I appreciate their honesty, I still think it could have been done. They did do the trim and the offered a shampoo. I declined that as i was already frustrated. Any other professional I've been to had been able to do exactly as I asked and it turned out good everytime. Never any issues that this school had. And I understand that they are student and are learning, i completely understand that. But you're going to be working on all kind and types of peoples hair. So this could have been a learning opportunity or a new skill to acquire...I'm not sure if I'll ever be back at the salon but maybe for my lash extensions but definitely not the salon. read more

I went in for a wash and trim and I'm not satisfied what so ever . The wash and conditio was ok but the trim is fucked up bad. The back is so short and the front sides are the same length and I told her I have layers and she clearly didn't care and my hair looked trash and the style was bad and I said I prefer length over volume and I guess she didn't care either and she was rushing like if you couldn't do it don't take the client never visit again read more

Everyone is welcoming from the moment of arrival to the time of checking out. Janica was the student who pampered me today with a color service. And pampered I was! My hair was in the beginning state of being neglected. My ends were frayed about 4" and the previous highlights were dull and sad. My root color had grown out almost to my shoulders while my highlights were almost down to my waist. The instructor, Jamie, jumped in and became hands on and helped the 3 students surrounding me learn how she would approach the growth and the frayed ends. Janica understood what color I wanted even though I was having a difficult time explain what I really wanted. She came through! Posted on Google Reviews also- Unprofessional staff and "teachers", I feel bad for the students. I wasn't going to write this because i'm not really a reviews person but I'm so upset about my experience. I went in with hair almost down to my waist, I was looking for a trim and ombré ends. Consultation started strong and I was feeling pretty good going into it, we agreed to an inch off many times. Student started cutting my hair and the second I realized she was going too short I asked to feel it and then to stop and she said she would get her teacher, who should've been walking around supervising but was nowhere in sight. She eventually found her teacher, and agreed it was too short and tried to "fix it" into a LOB. The teacher then proceeded to GASLIGHT ME, saying they didn't really cut much off and it still looked beautiful. I was visibly shaking and upset at this point. She asked if I wanted to do the dye service still and left me alone for what felt like forever but i'm sure was about 5 minutes or so. When she finally came back I told her no to the dye service and said there was really nothing they could do to make it better because the damage had been done. The teacher said "No not really", I wasn't offered anything complementary other than her comping the fee for the haircut, but I wasn't about to ask them to do anything more for me either, I just wanted to go home. Thankfully another student nearby noticed what was happening (thank you so much btw if you're reading this) and intervened, washed and blew out my hair so I could leave. I unfortunately left with 5-6 inches less hair in the back - when I asked for a trim multiple times. As someone who has trimmed their own hair at home for about 4 years now, this has been a truly traumatizing experience and I will not be back. I understand it is a school, I've actually attended the same school and dropped out (different location) and gotten a previous trim there. I wasn't worried because that location was professional, shout out to Arlington Location. Basically - I expected more, and I am shocked by the way I was treated by specifically the short grey haired woman. I will insert photos also. The photo with the green jacket was before the appointment and the yellow tone photos are from after. It was long all the way around but I had longer face framing pieces, I also clearly had dead ends. Now it is super short in the back and it was kept longer in front/on sides. Entirely not what I asked for and extremely choppy and unfixable unless I take off even more length. I'm devastated. Edit: Checking this next day and wow. I went to ogle for my first haircut in over 2 years and had Alicia Alejo for my stylist. I hadn't had my hair messed with in a while because I have had a lot of bad experiences in the past. She made me feel like I was in great hands, she went over all the obstacles I was having with my hair as far as dryness and texture. I knew I was in good plans by her attention to detail, she was very persistent about making sure she did everything evenly (which I've had problems with in the past). I decided to make my appointment over the phone. Surprisingly, the time slot I wanted was available! Thank God! I chose to go on a Saturday at 3:30 pm. I arrived promptly to my appointment and was seen right away. Marisol asked me, if I had an idea of what I wanted. I showed her a pic of what I wanted and she did my makeup and lashes. It took an hour and fifteen minutes but, I was happy with the results. If you ever feel like helping a student. I would encourage you to come here.
