I have been coming here for years and it doesn't matter who you are assigned to are whether it's for just a haircut or a color or a perm and I have had 3 done over the years and all the students have NEVER messed up my haircut, never messed up my hair color are messed up my perm! They are all good! They are eager to learn and they don't do anything until one of the teachers gives them directions and advice on how to do it whatever you request! The teacher's are always checking in to make sure the students are doing whatever you request. Absolutely the best place I have ever been to in Arlington! They are great! read more

Well, if you need an affordable place and have lots of time, you can stop by. I entered and knew exactly that I wanted a level two as I really wanted someone that can give me a blowout look. I got something lower than a level two and was there almost 4 hours for Just a blow dry & hair wash. They used a round brush, needed help from a peer & pulled my hair a lot. I would try again but I would speak up & ask that I am really needing a level 2 & tell them what you want. read more

Sidney rude and told me no one there today. I used to get my hair cut on saturdays all the time.

I have been here before and had a good experience; however, this time was not pleasant. I went in for a hair color- highlights and cut. The instructor assigned 2 students to do my hair. Each doing one side of my hair foils. Welp, I had 2 different outcomes and it was horrific! One side had chunkier highlights and my the bleach took way better. The other side were thing highlights and the bleach was not properly applied so there was little color change. The Instructor didn't bother to check the fouls before having them move to toning so I was stuck looking like 2 people. I heard the girls then talk to the instructor at the hair wash area, she just told them to use a particular toner- mind you she still didn't bother to check my hair although the girls were clearly troubles with the outcome as was I. They put the toner in, let it set, cut my hair and styled it (unpretty style). I was so dissatisfied and upset at this point since this was a birthday treat. I simply paid, left no tip (I always tip) and left. The barber instructor did aid the girls and had my haircut properly. Her is a photo of both sides of my hair. LESSON: Paul Mitchell School: Please DO NOT EVER assign 2 students to do someone's color. Foil techniques cary even if they are using the same technique. The colors of my hair ate accurate. I now have to figure out how to make the left side of my hair look like the right side or vice versa read more

Amazing staff, very welcoming and very caring and compassionate environment. Miss Stephanie is an amazing teacher and role model for these students and I had an amazing time talking to her today and she is just an amazing person. Alma also did an amazing job on my hair it turned out beautifully. I would highly recommend coming here for services or for schooling. :) read more

i had an appt at 1pm. i wasn't able to be seen until 1:40pm. 20 mins into waiting I went to the reception to see how long will it before I was seen she said she sent it off to the back when I arrived. 10 mins later a student who was sitting came over and asked my name and said she'll be with me shortly. at 1:40 she called me to her chair but unfortunately I told her I wasn't able to proceed with the appt today because almost an hour has passed and we weren't gonna have enough time. I then told the receptionist and was told "well this isn't a salon this is a school" when I told her I wanted to speak to someone about the time. WITH AN ATTITUDE. being a school doesn't excuse someone for NOT being punctual. read more

Tried calling multiple times left message never called back. Went to location to book appointment and tell them phones not working. Was told oh well we are short staffed. Made an appointment with Simon when I arrived was given a different student who told me they are not told when they have appointments . If that's the case don't tell me I can book with certain students. An instructor came and explained things and kindly gave me a deep conditioning. The gesture was kind but please do better. read more

Excellent service at a great value. Students and teachers very professional, knowledgeable and friendly.

Giving them 2 stars because I've had decent service in the past. However this recent attempt, I had booked a service and was told my appointment wasn't in the system. I've called to book many times and have never ran into this issue. Meghan A was working the front desk and told me I could wait 15-20 mins and they would let me know if there was an opening. My information was not taken so i couldn't even be placed on the walk-in list if there even was one! After 30-mins, no one approached me so I walked up to the front desk, waited another 10 mins before she approached the counter and was told there was no opening. This should've been personally communicated to me after the 15-20 min wait - I should not have had to walk up to the front desk and wait again to be told this. I asked to reschedule for an appointment at a later date. I was told I was in the system and should get a confirmation text. I stood there for 10 mins waiting for my text and never received one but she assured me I was in the system. Come the day of my appointment, still no confirmation text. I was never put on the schedule AGAIN so I left and went to another place. This is a failure on both the school's system and the salon service desk - if they, too, are students, the school is preparing them to be failures in customer service. read more

I can say with utmost certainty that Javan is the most professional barber I've ever gone to. From the day I met him his down to earth personality and his professionalism have blown me away and left me more than satisfied with the provided service. Unkind to people with invisible disabilities! I am writing to express my deep disappointment and concern regarding the treatment I received during my recent visit on 03/15 to the Paul Mitchell School in Arlington, Texas. As a loyal customer for over ten years, I have always cherished the experience and affordability your school offers, especially considering my condition as a type one diabetic. Managing diabetes comes with significant financial burdens, as insulin costs drain a substantial portion of my monthly budget, amounting to approximately $300 to $500. This constant financial strain due to Juvenile Diabetes, an incurable condition that necessitates lifelong insulin dependence, has led me to frequent your establishment regularly. In addition to being a regular customer, I have also attended numerous graduation ceremonies to support your students' careers, often leaving generous tips ranging from $40 to $100 as an expression of my appreciation and encouragement. However, my recent experience at your school fell far below my expectations. Before arriving at the salon, I engaged in vigorous exercise at work, which made my blood sugar levels more susceptible to dangerous lows. Moreover, unforeseen rain and heavy traffic significantly delayed my commute to the salon. Due to my diabetic condition, it is crucial for me to manage my blood sugar levels carefully. Therefore, I had arranged for a meal to be delivered to the salon, as consuming a balanced meal with protein and carbohydrates is essential for stabilizing my blood sugar levels, unlike the temporary relief provided by simple sugars from vending machines. To my astonishment, upon arrival, I was informed that I could not consume my prepackaged meal inside the salon due to purported cosmetology laws. I explained my situation to the manager, emphasizing the medical necessity of my meal and citing my previous experiences of being allowed to eat and have snacks at other salons, including enjoying wine on occasions. While in a fragile state, I was asked to eat outside. When my sugar was a little better, I took the initiative to research the relevant regulations, which clearly state that while preparing food is prohibited in salons, consuming prepackaged food is permitted--precisely what I was doing for medical reasons to manage my diabetes effectively. The risk of skipping or delaying a meal for individuals like me, who rely on insulin regimens, is severe hypoglycemia, which can have life-threatening consequences. I provided a reputable medical source (UpToDate) to support my case, underscoring the importance of maintaining stable blood glucose levels. "If a meal is skipped or delayed, people who use these insulin regimens are at risk for developing low blood glucose. https://www.uptodate.com/contents/type-1-diabetes-and-diet-beyond-the-basics/" Despite my efforts to explain the situation and the factual basis for my request, I was met with resistance and, frankly, what felt like misinformation regarding cosmetology policies. This treatment left me deeply dismayed and questioning whether I will continue to patronize your establishment in the future. I urge you to review your policies and ensure that they are not only compliant with legal regulations but also considerate of customers with medical needs. It is disheartening to be treated with such disregard, especially when my loyalty and support for your school have been unwavering for so many years. I hope this letter serves as a constructive critique and an opportunity for improvement in customer service and awareness of medical needs. I was so angry at the unsavory treatment that I took the 5 to 10 foils out of my hair, told the front desk that I was not paying for the 15 minutes of treatment. To date, I have not received a response to my above complaint. read more

I like visiting this location because I love the service I get when I go in. Remember this is a school so be patience. These are students who are still being guided and helped by professionals in the business. They offer multiple services and I really love their line of color hair dye. I go at least once a year to get my hair bleached and color because I love how over time my hair color changes with every wash of my hair. read more

This school is an absolute joke! They have no clue how to run let alone manage this school! They send emails saying we can pick up our cap and gown for graduation and they close the school! If that's the case send an email saying so! Don't say they're available and then decide to close because it's a little cold! This school was an absolute mistake! I truly regret it! Teresa, Sondra are a joke and just show up for the checks...they could care less about us or providing actual customer/student service. read more

I've been to this place before and It's cool for what it is. However, I have a problem with purposely placing clients with ethnic hair with non-ethnic ppl even if requested otherwise. I understand it's a learning school but if you have never even heard of what I'm wanting or how to do it I should be able to request a different stylist. And that's simply on preserving my hair health. Tbh learning how to do other ethnicities hair is a great learning opportunity but there are somethings you need to practice on a mannequin head and not a live person. My hair is not an experiment. read more

Amazing school! This is the place you need to be. Great education and guest services.

Used to go all the time. But my last appointment, a year ago, was my LAST appointment. They turned my hair orange. I went back a couple days later to get it fixed, and it was still orange. Was told it would be another service to fix it. ? I was shocked...I paid for a service, they wrecked it, and didn't fix it, and wanted me to pay for yet another service to fix it. ? Had to go to another salon, who easily fixed it. I used to really like Paul Mitchell, and would tell people to give it a try. Not any more, I won't ever go back. read more

Lauren H did a wonderful job on my daughter's hair! The instructor felt it would be best to hold off on highlighting due to the high damage my daughter had already on her hair from over processing- which I am grateful for her wise words to do a deep conditioner then just toner, trim and to give it time to "heal". The toner did great and Lauren's trim was professional Price was amazing! We bought 3 full size products and with those 2 treatments- got out under $150 with tip included! read more

I used to go to Toni & Guy Academy in Carrollton for years. It was okay- I didn't expect much from a place where you can get such an edgy haircut for so cheap. It was a really young, hip atmosphere, but the care given to customers wasn't that great. The Paul Mitchell School in Arlington was a lot closer to me, and the treatment of the students by their teachers was much more thorough, just by my listening in. Customer service from the minute I walked in was much more professional and personal. I found out from my student stylist, not even the teacher, that since I grew my hair out from super short, the texture has changed, and I should use products more for dry hair. Normally, I avoid trying new products recommended at a salon because of price and feeling obligated, but I was never pressured. In fact I asked what they sold there for a change, and I swear by them! There is a little bit of a wait when it gets busy, but it's a school with students learning, and a popular one at that! I still use one Toni and Guy styling product, but I doubt I will go back to their school... this one feels so much more like an actual high-end salon! Very satisfied!! I attached a photo from the first time I went. Everywhere I go to get a cut, I am told I have the most hair anyone has ever seen- not thick- just more per follicle. My student stylist was not intimidated, though! read more

I would give 1000000 minus if I could ! First off they took 30 mins for me to start my service that I already made an appointment for a week ago,and made me wait in the car during that time because of Covid 19. The girl that did my balayage was not really getting much oversight by the teachers and the teachers don't know what they are doing either ! Let me show you pictures- first is my hair I went in with and the balayage photo I wanted it to look like then what I ended up getting by the student . And then while another girl styled me she burned my forehead With the curling iron. I'm furious because not only do I not look like the picture I wanted they made me blonde with a burn on my forehead ! So they say come in for the toner and the instructor sees pictures of where I would like the balayage darkened to but makes it entirely brown instead . Then she tried to make me believe that it looked close like any of the pictures !! Never going there again save your money and time!! Total of 8 hours wasted and damaged my hair ! Pictures are jumbled read under each picture to see the mess! Oh and the instructors say to me I'm never gonna be happy with what ever They do and they might have missed the Mark a little ?! !!!! Just a little ?!!!!Really why don't we remove the wrong kidney during surgery and say oh we might have missed the Mark just a little lol. Oh and they give you this look as if we are expected to tip for this garbage! I did tip but I was like had I seen in clear light this mess I wouldn't! I'm hi read more

NOT recommended. Drove 45 minutes to get there, only to be denied at the door because I had my 11-year-old daughter with me. When I scheduled the appointment online, there was NO information saying to not bring children. So I will start out by says yes this is a school, but there are instructors that should be watching over the students. My wife went in for a cut and wanted to go from brown hair to platinum. First off was told could not do that in one day. They started on her at 11:30 and at 3:45 the Instructor took over and did the hair cut. After $230 yes she got a hair cut and her hair is now light brown. They said come back in two week they would make it lighter. Then In another 2/4 week they could color it. ??? Her roots will be grown out in 6 weeks, how the heck is this ever going to work. For the kinda money she spent I could have taken her anywhere and got it all done in a single day in a few hours. Would not go here for a color change ... read more

I used to go here all the time. I have never had a service that couldn't be easy fixed and expected that since it is a school but lately I haven't been able to get in here. It's an excellent place to pamper yourself. Students are closely supervised and they don't allow a customer to go out of the shop dissatisfied. I have used the school for all my cuts and color this year and I have LOVED IT. My hair looks like I had it done at an upscale salon.
