If I could give zero stars I would. Went with my dad for ME to get a haircut after surgery, so that it would be easier for me to brush my own hair. He decided to get one too while we were there. 45 minutes after appointment time (yes. We both made separate appointments. And were BOTH checked in when we got there), he was done, and I hadn't been called back. I thought maybe they were waiting on a stylist to be available. I went to cosmetology school, so I get that that's how it is sometimes, and gave them the benefit of the doubt and waited. Nope! They forgot me. At that point I got an half-enthusiastic "sorry", and "we can't cut your hair". Where I went to school, an instructor would have made it a point to take care of it. SOMEONE would have made it right. Then and there, and done the haircut. They weren't closing for another hour+. Now I'm in physical pain (this was my first outing after surgery), in tears, and don't have the haircut that I went there for to make my life easier. Go to Supercuts or great clips over this...I WANTED to support learning stylists, since I was once one. Never again. read more

I've been going there because I love the students that are fresh in a budding and on the cutting edge of new hairstyles. I love the environment and Ms. T their instructor is a phenomenal teacher and person. However one of the girls did braids on me and I was not told I was going to be charged for it. We were just experimenting with my hair and I said yes let's try braids this time. Then one of the instructors (not Ms. T) says that's $15 extra for braids I was shocked because neither the students nor I was told that and we were a little blindsided. I always expect better than I get. It is not that my standards are unreasonable. I expect to not have to wait 15-20 minutes when they say it will be just a couple of minutes, have a seat. Sure we have an opening for you. Don't lie to me please, my time is valuable. I happened to do a walk in. Today is half price facial day which I did not know. I thought what luck but they will probably be all booked. Nope they were dead. Probably a warning that I did not heed. Finally take me back sweet girl Ashley L. 3 pages of questions. Not for 4c hair... When I called to book at the salon they said that they could do 4c hair and I requested someone that could also do it. My stylists was very sweet and nice but it was very obvious she had never done 4c hair before. I got there at 9:30 for a blow dry and hair cut and didn't leave until 5:30. She did convince me to do this k18 treatment but that added 20 minuets to the whole process and was done at the beginning. A couple of red flags were that they did not expect my hair to shrink up after washing it and had no clue how to blow dry or detangle it . With the k18 treatment I was supposed to get a silk press but the blow dry was so bad that the flat iron struggled to press my hair. It's not silk at all. Additionally , the instruction told my stylist to detangle mg hair in sections (at this point 2 people were working on My hair) and they were totally confused on the reasoning. My silk press is not silky at all and they didn't even get my roots. It was a disaster that wasted my day and made me feel bad about my hair texture. I've never felt that way about it before The salon should do better about educating their stylists about hair types that aren't silky. The only people who knew anything were 2 other black stylists that the instructor had called over to help during the straightening process but by that time it was too late. read more

My haircut is horrendous and was done 100% by one of the teachers. It is so uneven, blunt layers, it is a nightmare. I have no idea how the student didn't try to fix this. Tisk Tisk Tisk I have been here before and received excellent service but this time around was a complete nightmare and leaves me leery of ever returning. So my daughter wanted to color her hair and since I have been there before to get my hair colored and her hair straightened I figured this would be the best option. We arrived for our appointment at noon and was taken back to a young stylist and my daughter showed them the color she wanted. The instructor came over to help us out further because my daughter had never had her hair colored and I refused to allow them to bleach her hair in the process. Well, I felt like they should have told us they would not be able to get her hair to the color she wanted because of her virgin hair being so dark and without bleach, it would be impossible to get it to a light enough color to tell that she had a color done. Instead, they wasted four hours of our lives for something that didn't take. They did apologize but I felt like $38 (after the $2 Yelp check-in discount) was not enough compensation for my daughter not receiving a noticeable color change. I won't totally write them off yet because they were very nice but I need them to understand and take into consideration about performing a service if you are not 100% it will turn out the way a customer wants it to. read more

The first time I visited this location I had a great experience. The second time I come back the student does not show up. I rescheduled for Wednesday and then get a phone call an HOUR before the appointment saying that they don't schedule appointments on Wednesday night....ok. I asked to speak to a manager and was BAFFLED when she said she was the manager. I was 1. Extremely disappointed that this is how the handled the situation. I told the woman that this was unacceptable and they should apologize and she would just respond with "ok." 2. That ogle allows their staff to be this disrespectful. Puts a bad taste in my mouth about how they teach their students. The "manager" did not offer me any alternative solutions not even an apology. Will be calling corporate. read more

Ok. So here's the thing...wash, deep conditioner treatment, cut, and style for $20 including tip. Yes, your service is completed by a student, but there are very competent instructors who check (and correct, if necessary) all their work. I'd give these guys and girls 5 stars, except for the one downfall... time. You need to plan on being there AT LEAST and hour and possibly more depending on what you're getting done - and the level of your student. I like to get a student and stick with him/her until they graduate, then start over. If you don't feel comfortable with the student you had this time, just ask for a different one next time. They do all types of color (foils, etc) and up-dos for special occasions. There's also a 'spa' side where you can get facials (try the back facial!) and other skin treatments (also done by students). Give it a shot... you'll save some money & help a student learn! read more

After years of simulating what was once my natural color, I was tired of dyeing. After much discussion, the plan that day would start with bleaching ro remove what was left of the red dye. The bleach had little to no affect, so a second attempt was made. No change. At this point, the student went to speak to the instructor, and was gone 10 minutes or so. She returned with the instructor who explained that the old color wasn't lifting, and I could either continue dyeing my hair red, cut it, over time, until the red was removed, or they could try the bleach again. I'd bleached once in my lifetime, and told them my hair felt like straw afterward. I asked if using bleach multiple times in one session was common, and expressed my concern about further damaging my already dry hair. The instructor said the bleach they use isn't harsh like the stuff sold in beauty supply stores. At that point, I'd been there almost 3 hours. It was either stop everything and they could apply a toner that would cover my 3 inch roots, and sort of blend into the now strawberry blond ends, which were 6 inches or more, or bleach a third time . The toner produced an ash blond result, (I was shown a swatch of hair) which I didn't like, but again, not much choice unless I went back to red. The instructor informed me she was taking over, and would finish my session herself. The third bleaching didn't work either. The toner was applied, so my hair was a lighter ash blonde, that turned to darker strawberry blonde. Now, after 4 months, my normally curly hair is terribly damaged. It's beyond frizzy, and looks like it was exposed to extremely high heat, and even better, it's breaking off at a rapid rate. I'm talking a handful of hair every day. I'm at a loss! This has never happened to me. I knew that much bleaching couldn't be good, but they're the professionals, right? I'd been better off with a buzz cut, the red would've been gone, and today, I'd have 4 inches of new, HEALTHY growth. As it is, I'm embarrased to leave my house. read more

Short version: I found the Ogle School and I figured, how bad can it be? Answer: Bad. WORST HAIRCUT EVER type of bad. If you don't want to invest in hats I'd skip this place. Please see picture and weep for my hair. Long Version: I have been to a number of beauty schools before in other states and I have enjoyed some of the best haircuts. I know they are students but by the time they get to practice on a real head they usually have some know how under their belts and worst case scenario is usually a great-clips quality cut. My husband and I had an appointment. We both signed in, checked in with the girl at the computer and I sat down. My husband got called back and I waited. After 30 minutes of waiting and watching people without appointments go in ahead of me I went up and asked. The girl shot me a NASTY look, typed away at the computer and then said - well you're checked in now. No apologies. Great start. I went in with hair down to my butt. I explained I wanted my hair a little below cleavage level. I showed her exactly where I wanted it to land. It is 7 inches shorter then I asked her to cut it. That is the difference from mid-back to shoulder length. I can understand an inch or two difference since they are students. But 7 INCHES!? I have short shoulder length hair now. That was enough of a shock. But that isn't the worst part. I wanted bangs. If you looked at the picture I truly don't need to say anything else. It is so bad that my husband literally took me shopping for hats after. Plus I've been having to cut wispy strands of bangs that weren't cut for days now. She was really sweet, and I wouldn't say it was her fault after meeting one of the instructors. Let us talk about professionalism for a moment. I henna my hair with 100% natural henna. It is EXCELLENT for your hair. Nearly every student in the place came up to tell me my hair was beautiful (before I got it cut, afterward they just diverted their eyes). The "Teacher" came over and told me that I should never dye my hair because it would all fall off due to the henna I've used on it. I advised her that henna is a 100% natural and good for your hair and that you can dye right over it. I've done it before with no problem in fact. She actually argued with me that I was wrong and that it would fall out. Didn't I just say I've done it before without a problem? She pretended not to hear me say this and went on preaching about how it would ruin my hair and it would all fall of if I even thought of highlighting it. Perhaps compound henna, or unlabeled boxed henna is bad for your hair as it may contain metallic salts, but plain pure henna is a plant and is great for hair. I said this yet again and was yet again ignored. She then began telling me how I shouldn't henna my whole head but should only do the roots as the bottom of my hair was much darker, she even held it up to show the darker ends. The ends actually have indigo in them (another plant) which is why it was darker and was another reason I wanted it cut. I advised her of this and she just kept on explaining how HENNA was darkening the rest of my hair. I have been using henna for 7 years, it is as dark as it is going to get now AND that is indigo, sweetheart. She once again just ignored me and walked off in a huff. #1 you shouldn't argue with your customers, even if I was dead wrong, that was not an attitude you should be demonstrating to your students. #2 Maybe if she spent a little less time explaining the dangers of a natural plant to her students and a little more time on basic FIRST day things like how to not butcher someones bangs, I wouldn't have the worst haircut EVER right now. I really wish people would educate themselves before opening their mouths, especially "hair experts". Do a 5 minute browsing of hennaforhair.com at least (or you know, pick up a book maybe?) and you'll learn plenty about the plant, and read about tons of women who switch back and forth between henna and hair dye with no problem at all. This is especially imperative if you are a teacher and passing on knowledge to others. My husband also got a hair cut here unfortunately. He had really long hair going in, and was getting it cut short. He said he told them over and over and over that he wanted it short. I even walked by at one point and told the woman, "much shorter!" He walked out of there looking like he still needed a haircut. So in the end, I got scalped, and his barely got cut. Good Luck to anyone who is brave enough to go. Be sure to bring a hat. read more

I feel like this place is often hit-or-miss. I've been here three times for pedicures. The first one was probably the best pedicure I've ever had. Fantastic massage and a great job with the polish. The second time was not as good, but still worthwhile for the price. The third time was the day before my wedding. I went with my two sisters in law and my mom. The woman who did my mom's nails did a fantastic French tip, while my SILs' toes ended up looking like the technicians were blindfolded. Don't go here if you need your toes to look good for a special occasion, because you'll be taking a risk. But if you're looking for an hour to relax at a great price and aren't picky about how your toes end up, this place is perfect. read more

The Only thing good is the price. I gave the student 2 chances to cut & color my hair & she failed both times. The layers were uneven & one side was longer than than the other. I asked that the the bulk be cut out but, that wasn't even attempted. When I called & made my appointment for highlights, I told the receptionist to let the stylist decide. When I got home & looked in the mirror, the highlighting stopped in an arc arc around the back; how strange. After 3 hours of being bombarded with minority club music, talking & laughing of students who didn't have clients behind me, a student who had a shouting match over the phone within a few feet of me of me & another student who interrupted my session twice to ask questions that could have waited or asked of another, it's no wonder I left with a headache! There's a sign which states that it's a professional environment & that's why paying customers aren't allowed beverages; I could have used alcohol! read more
