A Taste of Portugal in Every Scoop!…read more If you're in Aveiro, a stop at Gelados de Portugal is a must! I tried the Ovos Moles and Pastel de Nata flavors and was absolutely blown away. The richness of the egg custard and the creamy sweetness of the traditional Portuguese pastry were perfectly captured in each bite. It's like tasting local culture on a cone! The shop is beautiful and well-presented, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Whether you're a tourist or a local, this place is an experience - not just a dessert. Easily one of the best ice creams I've had in Portugal!

Luckily, we made it just in time to grab a table and order before a hundred people walked in! We ordered coffee and a variety of pastries: pastel de natas, tart/cookie and their ovos moles( specialty of Aveiro) which wasn't my cup of tea. Long story short, everything was extremely fresh and yummy. Check it out if your in the area and looking for a quick breakfast, lunch or pastries to grab on the go.

I really enjoyed the balanced flavor of the cheesecake with strawberry syrup and crumble pieces. It should be strawberry pieces not syrup... "A Rose by Any Other Name Would Taste as Sweet." (Misquote, "Romeo and Juliet")…read more Juliet was perchance ordering her rose-shaped gelato from Amorino, whence she first spoke her most famous phrase, upon discovering these frozen blooms were as sweet and fine of works of art as those wrought by Mother Nature herself. Amorino Gelato 'twas founded in the year 2002 by two Italians, bosom companions from their youth. Their first shop commenced in Paris, and from there the chain doth spread its fame 'cross the world o'er. What maketh Amorino so special is not just that their gelato is all natural and organic, but also that their dessert artists masterfully carve gelato petals into the shape of flowers! Thou mayest order endless flavors such as Sri Lankan Coconut or Orange Blossom Cream... as many flavors as there are petals upon thy cone. All this is then crowned by a gelato-filled macaron. I ordered the basil lime alongside the tiramisu, topped with a pistachio macaron. The resulting sweet rose was rich and much smoother than the course of true love, but alas, did not survive as long as any botanical bouquet I have e'er received. Overall, this doth prove a merry and touristic experience, without forfeiting the quality thereof. Stop in to treat yourself or to give some sweets to the sweet. Get thee to Amorino...or get thee to a nunnery!

Second stop was for ice cream. They were so many unique flavors to pick from - it was so hard to decide. You can sample flavors but only after picking a size (cone or cup) and making a payment. The cup sizes include one less flavor so for example with a medium cup, you can select up to three flavors. With a medium cone, it is just two. The prices are very reasonable and the staff is incredibly patient as you sample and try the different flavors. They also speak English and will help translate and explain flavors. I ended up going with a medium cup with pistachio, fig and ricotta and golden milk (turmeric, cinnamon, ginger and black pepper - it's amazing!) They have both non-vegan and vegan flavors so ample choices for all diets. There is very little indoor seating (one table) but plenty of seating (tables and chairs) outside for people watching. I cannot recommend this place enough!
