You're in a touristy spot so the prices aren't the lowest in the area however it's not crazy expensive either especially for us Americans. There is plenty of seating inside to cool off from the hot summer day. You can also sit outside in people watch it. It's a great time. (Misquote, "Romeo and Juliet") Juliet was perchance ordering her rose-shaped gelato from Amorino, whence she first spoke her most famous phrase, upon discovering these frozen blooms were as sweet and fine of works of art as those wrought by Mother Nature herself. Amorino Gelato 'twas founded in the year 2002 by two Italians, bosom companions from their youth. Their first shop commenced in Paris, and from there the chain doth spread its fame 'cross the world o'er. What maketh Amorino so special is not just that their gelato is all natural and organic, but also that their dessert artists masterfully carve gelato petals into the shape of flowers! Thou mayest order endless flavors such as Sri Lankan Coconut or Orange Blossom Cream... as many flavors as there are petals upon thy cone. All this is then crowned by a gelato-filled macaron. I ordered the basil lime alongside the tiramisu, topped with a pistachio macaron. The resulting sweet rose was rich and much smoother than the course of true love, but alas, did not survive as long as any botanical bouquet I have e'er received. This Amorino Gelato location is right by the Clerigos Tower, so it's definitely a nice spot where you can grab your gelato and people watch, as it's at the heart of Porto! I know they have Amorino gelato locations all over the world, and some in the U.S. even, but this was my first experience at one, so I will think that it's more authentic in my mind even if that's not true LOL The gelato at Amorino is so smooth and delicious, with a sweetness but that little extra tart you get with fruity gelato. I ordered the Red Berry flavor, and it was topped with a little mini pistachio macaron, so I got the tart/sweetness from the gelato and the more creamy sweet flavor in the pistachio. Sitting right in view of the Torre Clerigos, I definitely recommend this spot if you're in the area and want a nice treat with a great view! read more

Food-wise, there were only 2-3 options: a croissant, a tart, and some cookies. On a less appetizing note, a pigeon flew inside and landed on tables, knocking over cups, which wasn't exactly ideal for the atmosphere. Each flavor was better than the other: chocolate, chocolate hazelnut, mango, cherries and cream, coffee, pistachio, mint chocolate chip. You can choose as many flavors as you want. The service was fast, efficient and helpful. They let you taste as many as you want before selecting. We loved all of them. I chose the hazelnut and was pleased to find a smattering of actual roasted hazelnuts mixed through. Yummy smooth sweet with the occasional soft crunch. Great flavors to choose from. Lime, banana, passion fruit, blackberry, lime and basil, tangerine, mango, melon, raspberry and a bunch more. Service was good. OMG! Sorbet/Gelato HEAVEN with a macaroon on top!!!! all in a cone and shaped like a flower....are you kidding me!?!? I felt like a 7-year-old adult with flavors like: Lime-Basil, Bloodorange-Ginger, Mango, Hazelnut, Pistachio... Mix and match as many as you'd like. Each petal can be a different flavor. Top it off with your choice of a fresh, melt-in-your-mouth macaroon. It's kinda expensive but totally worth it. Sacrifice lunch and have this! It was very hot outside and found mine dripping down my arm as I walked out so either get a tiny one and savor or eat a medium one FAST. Next time I'll get a tiny one and come back the next day to try other flavors. The first scoop is the biggest to fill the center so make that your favorite base flavor. read more

When I am traveling, I stop at least once a day for gelato. Amorino's gelato was as good as any gelato, but they are a little stingy as to the size of serving and the price is about a 1 Euro higher than others for the same size cup. And I always have mine in a cup. At this location the server had a bite size portion of gelato stuck on the back side of the serving scoop after putting the last scoop in the cup. Instead of adding that to the rest of gelato in the cup, she flipped it into the garbage can before handing me the cup. I will go somewhere else for my gelato from now on. read more
