On top of that, there was really nobody in there, and I was wondering if I was in the right place. But I went ahead and put in my order for some gelato. By the time the guy scooped my gelato there is a line out the door of at least 20 people. No exaggeration. It was sort of mind blowing. I had the stracciatella and also the cheesecake flavors. Both were very soft and creamy and delicious. I can see why people feel. This is the best place in Porto. In fact, I overheard someone in line saying that they also heard that this was the very best gelato in town. If you're looking for a sweet way to finish your night I recommend trying to find this place and having some of their very delicious gelato.

I was initially attracted to this place due to the reviews mentioning fruity gelato flavors like watermelon, coconut and white grape but they must be seasonal because I was slightly disappointed to discover only 3-4 basic fruit sorbet flavors out of 12 flavors they were currently offering. My boyfriend opted instead for a scoop of pistachio, and after one lick I was enlightened. It tasted equally as good as the gelato that I've had in Italy and suddenly it made sense to me why everyone loves pistachio as I've never really been a big fan. Rich and nutty with a creamy, velvety texture that gives it just the right mouth-feel... and for less than 4 euros?? I only wish that we hadn't discovered this spot on our last night in Porto because I definitely would have been tempted to revisit.

Good gelato break while wandering Porto…read more Boutique do Gelado is a small gelato shop just south of the popular pedestrian street Rua das Flores in Porto's historic district. We stumbled in on a hot day to find a wide array of fresh gelato flavors, including classic mango, strawberry, mint & chocolate plus more unique blends. Texture was smooth & rich as you'd expect for gelato. For €3.90, we received one gelato scoop in a cone. Their signature vanilla, pistachio & forest fruit flavor had an interesting mix of fresh vanilla gelato along with a slightly crunchy nutty feel plus notes of sweet sour berries. The scoop was topped generously and on the sweet side. The gelato shop was relatively packed with locals. Skip it or hit it? It's a good detour for a pleasant treat between strolling through Rua das Flores.
