Very good food above average beer they brew themselves. It is kind of a small place so expect a wait. Not sure if this is normal for them or not but it was crazy hot in there during my visit. It was a 80 degree day outside and it was well over 90 inside (every time a door opened it felt like the y turned on the a/c!) so keep that in mind if you walk inside and it feels a bit warm. The only reason this place doesn't have five stars is because somebody didn't order the Portuguese Fisherman's Stew. If you do, don't waste your appetizer choice on mussels. There are plenty in this entree, along with fresh clams, cod and sausage. This may have been the best soup I've ever had. The lobster roll wasn't quite as good as the stew but the meat was high quality and volume (hence the 5). The waitress took a while to take our order, but the food came quick enough to compensate. We have returned year after year to Offshore. It's a must-do on our vacation, even if we have to wait in the rain for a table! The atmosphere is friendly and cozy. The kids love eating peanuts and sweeping the shells to the floor. Delicious beer and amazing lobster bisque. This is the vibe and the brew I was searching for. Plenty of local spots with a few taps and half an eye roll when I mentioned there werent any local pours available that didnt come in a can. Until I shuffled across the peanut shell laiden floor of OACo. Great beer, atmosphere and food. Waitstaff were happy to keep replenishing my glass and the tab was very reasonable for such a great time. So glad I came here. More glad I happened to pop in late afternoon when there was zero wait. I was a bit nervous at first because though I was seated right away it took forever and ever for my server to show up. I was probably about 1 minute from giving up and going somewhere else, but when she showed up she apologized profusely and more than made up for it the rest of my visit. Anyhoo, get the pizza. Trust me. This was day two of my "Fuck Gluten Tour 2013" and it was worth every cheating bite. Delicious. Sadly the FGT2013 did not include any of their beer, but if I had to do it all over again I'd still choose their pizza over their beer. Yum. This, along with Sharkys, is my favorite place to drink/eat while on vacation on in Oak Bluffs, on MV. Ordering food is not our priority when we go because the group we vacation with loves beer. The appetizers we've ordered over the years has been pretty good. I still have not had their pizza, even though every time I go the pizza smells and looks awesome. I've pleasantly enjoyed their large selection of beers they brew. Most recently they had an Imperial Stout that was dark, strong, and flavorful. Typically in the summer they have a hefeweizen on tap during the summer, which is a group favorite and really hits the spot on a hot summer day. Unfortunately, the Hef was not on tap yet and when we go there on a Sunday were told the Hef would not be on tap by the time we left in a week. They also have a huge barrel of peanuts for shelling, eating, and then throwing on the floor. This is nice and we all enjoy eating them while drinking our beer. So this would be a place to avoid if you or your child has a peanut allergy. read more

A true local spot, with peanut shells on the floor and a view of the actual brewery through glass behind the bar. This place was packed on an off season Saturday afternoon (it might have been the most populated place we saw the entire weekend) and still pretty busy when we actually got the chance to come here late in the evening for a pint or two. Friendly locals and bartender, and the beers that we selected were pretty solid (I recommend the nut brown or the amber if you're not into hops). They also have brewery tours if you plan in advance. The food here was great and the peanut shells on the floor made this place adorable. We had the clam chowder- phenomenal, one of the best I've had so far, the pulled pork sandwich- overflowing with pork and had a unique taste, the buttermilk chicken special- wow that chicken was cooked to perfection, tender and juicy and once again was much larger than the bun itself, the fish and chips- the cod sort of just melts in your mouth and the fries were amazing as well, and the fried oysters- delicious :). The food was great, the servers as well, and the price was reasonable, especially for the huge portion sizes. If I had one issue, it would be that the chicken sandwich was on the salty side and the fish and chips on the other hand lacked some seasoning. read more

Came here off of Yelp ratings but I found it overall underwhelming. I had the seafood risotto since our waitress highly recommended it. Although, after she commented "oh, that's a great choice" after everyone's order, I should have known better. The risotto was a little to porridge like, and a tad on the salty side. An on-Island brewery that quickly made its way to the top of the Island food chain, this brew-pub is where it's at -- peanut-shells-on-the-floor un-pretentiousness. Gracious smiles greet you, and the dark but cozy interior is a welcome change from the bustling sidewalks of Oak Bluffs. Beautiful bar set up with a TV, and even better, a gregarious bartender. Gorgeous, polished boats and fishing paraphernalia hanging from the ceiling, cozy booths and bench-and-chair seating around the perimeter. If you don't like the inside, sit outside on the semi-hidden terrace and people watch. It's OB... you'll have plenty to watch! Everyone is friendly to the max in this place. Not "give-me-a-good-tip" friendly -- genuinely friendly. Fun personalities from the bar to the waitstaff to the bus-staff. My boyfriend loves their tuna salad wrap. Hand-fried potato chips to boot. Their seafood is nicely fried, and their french fries are delish. I have to note that their clam strips aren't as traditional as I like them. I'm the kind of New Englander who likes that molten, creamy clam belly still attached, and unfortunately, the bellies were absent. The strips are still good, with a nice flavor, but the breading is a little thick. Their brews are outstanding. Their Menemsha Creek Pale Ale isn't too hoppy and bitter, and the Hops Goddess is just hoppy enough, with a fruity and floral bouquet befitting its name. Those are only two of their varieties. If you are itching to bring some home, you can do that, too! Tons of swag, including t-shirts and pint glasses, to commemorate your visit, too. So drop some cash and show your love. This was a fantastic little brewery on the vineyard. It was exactly what an old school bar should be- dark and comfortable- peanut shells on the floor.... Stopped in here for a quick lunch and sample of their beers. Between the group we tried: the Hop Goddess, the IPA, the porter and the brown ale. They were all solid options and I would have happily continued imbibing if we hadn't been slightly hangover from the previous night *no judgement* The brown ale was by far the favorite of the group. Nice nutty notes while still being very light and refreshing. We thought the food options were also solid as well. My chicken quesadilla was overflowing with stuff- it could have easily fed two people. Others in the group had the pulled pork and the tuna melt and all were happily devoured. Came here right before the lunch rush so we got seated no problem and started eating the peanuts. Server was very attentive and accommodating as we told him we had a ferry to catch. He made sure he brought our food as soon as it was ready, and he even gave us our check before we had to ask him for it. The food was pretty good for a touristy place like Martha's vineyard.. We had the calamari with remoulade and marinara (remoulade was better, had a kick off heat too , marinara tasted funny) which was nicely fried and came with plenty of tentacle pieces in addition to rings, the crab cake sandwich lunch special (crab cake was really dark but it was surprisingly pretty tasty and had alot of crab meat), and the fish and chips (with fried cod, excellent tartar sauce). We sat outside on our visit to Offshore, and it was wonderful. When I went in to use the bathroom, it was kind of dank, so I was glad we weren't in there. I tried the blueberry ale and my husband tried the IPA and both were very good. I was also happy about my lunch - a special for the day, it was a wrap with quinoa, hummus, roasted red peppers, feta and olives. Kind of all of my favorite stuff in one wrap with a large side salad. What else do you do when you visit MV in the off-season but drink your day away? I read about Offshore Ale Co.'s new brewery tours (just started this year!) and quickly made reservations for me and my biddies during our MV getaway. It looks like they may take walk-ins, but don't quote me on it! Better off calling & reserving just in case :) Our tour started a few minutes late (partly due to the owner making his rounds with customers and partly due to my group and our small bladders...TMI?) but once it started we were off! We began in the 2nd floor room where the owner gave us a little background history of Offshore Ale Co., their beers, and why Martha's Vineyard is called a vineyard when it is lacking ... vineyards. We had about 5 tastings starting with little to many hops. He then gave seconds to whichever your fave was. Next, he took us through the brewing process. Because Offshore is so small and the tour is so new, you are able to get up close and personal with the machinery (even able to peek into some!) and ask questions you would not necessarily get with a larger tour. This was my first brewery tour but some of my gals went on the larger ones (e.g. Sam Adams, BK Brewery) and proclaimed it one of the best! After the tour was over, we each got souvie glasses with the Offshore logo imprinted on it! Awww, so worth the $10 admission! The tours run several times a day and last just about 45mins-60mins depending on how many questions are asked. Great way to pass a day in MV, even in season! After our tour, we decided to eat our supremely late (i.e. 4pm) linner at Offshore. Since it was between lunch and dinner hours, they were only serving a "limited" bar menu - which really was not limited at all! We split the clam chowder, mussels, fish&chips, and lobster rolls - all of which were delicious. That plus the seasonal Oktoberfest and Pumpkin beers as well as the free peanuts made us nice & full for the rest of the evening! read more

Very low-key, relaxed atmosphere at Offshore. They have the best pizza -- I'm talking really really good. Decent prices, too. Their beer is all their own (draft, at least) and it's worth trying everything once. During the summer, they have a really cute outdoor patio area. I feel like anytime I order a glass of Zin or Cab in a place known for beer I get punished. Day old bottle of wine served at above room temperature in a small glass. How come the beer guys get large mugs and I pay more for a child's size glass of vino? Punishment, that's why. Anyhow, service was friendly, but really slow. Hamburger wasn't anything special. Lackluster. I got here as soon as they opened for lunch. There was a group of 11 of us and we got a table right away. Our waitress was nice but she was hands down the slowest waitress I have ever met. We told her we were catching a ferry in about an hour and a half. Still slow. We probably waited for ten minutes with our menus folded waiting for her to come take our order. She was slowed down too because she had to make her own drinks, even though there was a bartender. Weird. As far as the food goes, it was ok. I had the tuna melt which I enjoyed. My boyfriend ordered a burger which he said was terrible. He couldn't even eat it. He wanted to speak with someone about it but we were in such a rush to catch our ferry we knew it would just be a huge hassel. read more

My 2 favorite one is the IPA and the Hopgoddess which are both above the 6% level. You can eat all of the peanuts you want for free and throw the shell directly to the ground. I haven't had a chance to try their food yet so I can't really say anything about that. The employee are extremely friendly and very talkative if you need to asked them anything. This place is always pack on every single day that they are open. They are open year around and support everything local which is great in my book. read more
