Daunted by the line that literally wraps around the corner, I trusted the many friends and family who insisted that visiting Officine Universelle Buly is worth the wait. While I arrived at the shop only about 5 minutes after it opened, I still had to wait in line for about an hour. To pass the time, I was handed a catalogue with elaborate descriptions of the shop's products. Once I entered the store, I was greeted by an attendant, who was dedicated to my needs throughout the visit and guided me through the shop. We started with the combs and brushes, followed by chapsticks, and, finally, perfumes. I was able to hold (and smell) each of the products, and most of the products were customizable. The attendants were all incredibly knowledgable about the products, and despite all the attention, I never felt rushed or pressured to buy anything. I ultimately selected a comb for myself and had it engraved with my name (it only took about 20 minutes). While I waited, I smelled the perfumes and took in the grandeur of the shop that resembled a royal apothecary. I left the store convinced that it was worth the wait - it's both a tactile and luxurious shopping experience, surrounded by rich tradition and history. I'd recommend arriving at the store early and doing your research ahead of time to guide your shopping.

Ok TikTok you did your thing! In a real way. The lines for Officine Universelle Buly are seriously outrageous. I told my Mom I wanted to stop in for a personalized lip balm and comb but had no idea we'd arrive to a 90 minute wait just to walk into the store. Absolutely wild! What's even more wild, is little miss impatient (hi! It's me!) stood there because I wasn't leaving France without my engraved curly hair comb and my monogramed lip balm ;) I also picked up a special little gift for a friend and my Mom purchased a couple of balms for my sister and my brothers girlfriend. The experience was lovely once in, and moves swiftly after decisions are made. They didn't have the lighter curly hair comb I originally wanted so I opted for tortoise which the associate said she prefers over the other because the gold engraving stands out more. You have two choices for lip balm cases, ivory or black and a plethora of options for leather exterior where the monogramming is placed and pouches. All of our items turned out well. I'd recommend if you can stand the wait time. The gifts are very sweet and I can't stand a "souvenir", that just screams tacky! Beautiful store, gorgeous product line.

I came in here recently just wanting to browse, but ended to making an impulse purchase. This shop came highly recommended to me by our tour guide, the real Emily in Paris, so I was curious to see what the fuss was about. The shop itself is absolutely beautiful. Full of neat things to look at, there's something on every shelf that catches your eye. The shop people working the day I visited were extremely nice and friendly. They were also patient with me as I tried to communicate what I wanted in French. Embossing and engraving takes 5 minutes, and engraving adds 5€ to your bill. There's a calligrapher on hand that can add some flair to your gift's gift tag. Beautiful products and I will definitely be a repeat customer!

    - Candle in CAMPAGNE D'ITALIE scent - Bottle lotion in Lichen D'ecosse Parfum De Peau The store is steeping in tradition and the ornate EVERYTHING is quite intimidating.. but the staff were exceptionally helpful to a total novice in Europe!

One of the most beautiful stores I visited in Paris -you can see why they have been around since 1803! Just walking in felt like an oasis from the chaos of the city - classical music complimented and look & feel of the space. I almost felt like I had entered a time machine and had stepped back in time. Definitely had the feel of an old school parfumerie. The employees were chic, warm & welcoming. I loved all the details, thought & care that went into the packaging. A lot of the purchases are customizable and can be monogrammed on site. An on-site calligrapher wrote the most beautiful name card for mom, included with purchase. It's easy to spend way too many Euros in this place...but absolutely worth a visit when in Paris!!

Les studios was incredibly professional in handling our reservation. OUR EXPERIENCE : Lola, our "nez", was fabulous. She gave a really interesting detailed explanation as to not only what we were doing but how and why in both French and English as there was another person in our tiny 3 person group who did not speak English. We did not feel rushed or ignored as rated our scents. Lola was also very patient -it took my daughter and I longer to create our perfumes following the recipe Lola created for us based on our scent likes and rankings- than the other person in our group who finished about half an hour early than we did. It was interesting as she thoughtfully asked us questions as she created our personal perfume recipe making sure to balance the base notes, middle and top notes of our unique scents. FINISHING UP: At the end she helped us come up with an interesting name for our perfume, made sure we correctly finished paperwork that would allow us to reorder our creations if we wanted in the future and gave us some very welcomed recommendations of a special cake place and other food recommendations. 5/5 all day long. Our experience creating perfume guided by Lola was amazing and I recommend you do this the first day you are in Paris as you will create a scent that will be tied to your Paris memories. What a great way to start a very exciting mother daughter trip. Thank you Lola!

I write this with dismay…read more I recently posted on here asking for help finding this particular fragrance. Because Dzing! is discontinued and hard to find. But to my luck, some of the beautiful people on Fragrantica private messaged me and told me about it being available on L'artisan's website for a limited release. After thanking them, I went over to the site and purchased two bottles of this incredible fragrance and was beyond thrilled. However, the next day I realized I didn't receive an email confirming my purchase. So I panicked. I thought maybe if I put the wrong email address, they would now give me a hard time about this time sensitive order. So immediately emailed them and addressed my concern and confirmed the proper email address. (Why a wrong email address would cancel an order is beyond me - typically a store would reach out after going over the other information provided and correct it - but I didn't want to take any chances). So a couple days go by and nothing is heard from L'artisan. So I give them a call. I'm greeted by a woman on the phone with a thick French accent and I begin to tell her about my situation. She puts me on hold, and comes back to tell me that my order was canceled and I will be getting a refund in the next couple of days. With obvious disappointment, I asked "why? Over a wrong email address?" And she didn't have an answer for me but "I'm sorry" and went silent. So I said "oook" and said "thank you I guess" and hung up. Now I'm left rather upset because I know how hard it is to find Dzing! and especially at that price point. So I sat there with my thoughts and got rather frustrated with how that customer representative literally found me no solution and didn't seem to care at all. (I get we're in COVID times and no one cares and pretty much all customer service across the board is terrible). So I call back, and I'm greeted by what I thought was the same lady. Supposedly not. This lady's name was Saliva and she was clearly not interested in helping me. I asked if they knew when it was coming back in stock, and if I could be put on a waiting list/pre order. (Idk) and she laughed at me over the phone. Literally laughed at me. So I asked her what was so funny? Salvia then proceeded to tell me there was nothing she can do for me. So I asked to speak to a manager, which I guess wad also funny. Because Salvia laughed at me again. (I thought I was being pranked). So again, I asked her what was so funny? So after being laughed at, I asked to speak to a manager. Salvia told her manager isn't there until Monday. And I should send an email and try again. Once again, left with no solution, I asked Miss giggles what her name was and told her that I'm complaining about her and her company. I hung up. - A few hours later I received an email from a "Chloe". She told me that they sold out of the product and apologized for keeping my money for the 4 days. (So basically I paid for a product, they canceled my order due to an e-mail issue, and sold my purchased product and kept my money until the issue was "resolved"). After that, I emailed her back asking to have a manager reach out to me and I would like to speak with one. Not only about my experience with Salvia, but with L'artisan as a whole, their customer service, and how no solution was even offered. I was emailed back by Salvia, saying that a manager will contact me on Monday and to have a great weekend. Fast forward to now, It's now Wednesday and I haven't heard a peep from anyone at L'artisan. Now I write this because I actually enjoy their fragrance and product. But I will never purchase a single thing from them again. Their customer service is 0/10 and they clearly don't care about their customers. Figure it out L'artisan, or go out of business like the rest of them who lack any form of customer service.

They have a good variety of sets from full size bottles to miniature sets. Some that come with just parfume, eu de toilette or a combination of soap, gels and parfums. I saw that prices ranged from 16 - 24 Euro for the miniature sets, but the prices are also reasonable for single sized parfum and cologne bottles. Yes, they offer cologne for men here and I was really impressed with how well all of them seemed to smell. I ended up buying a full sized bottle for my brother while I was here, as well as gifts for some of my friends. The lady tending to us was really kind, and she allowed us to take our time and even included individual gift bags as well as a variety of samples for us and the people we were buying for. The gift bags alone seemed to be a work of art and we left very happy and content with our purchases. The only problem now is, where will we shop when we run out of products we bought? Maybe that will be an incentive to return...
