My college age daughter and myself had a wonderful afternoon at Le studio des Parfums. . CONFIRMATION: We used their website to book directly rather than a 3rd person group like TripAdvisor, where they promptly confirmed our reservation as well as sent a reminder email (we originally booked with another perfumer via viator but had no contact, no confirmation, no record of activity thus we assumed they never received our reservation...that's another story). Les studios was incredibly professional in handling our reservation. OUR EXPERIENCE : Lola, our "nez", was fabulous. She gave a really interesting detailed explanation as to not only what we were doing but how and why in both French and English as there was another person in our tiny 3 person group who did not speak English. We did not feel rushed or ignored as rated our scents. Lola was also very patient -it took my daughter and I longer to create our perfumes following the recipe Lola created for us based on our scent likes and rankings- than the other person in our group who finished about half an hour early than we did. It was interesting as she thoughtfully asked us questions as she created our personal perfume recipe making sure to balance the base notes, middle and top notes of our unique scents. FINISHING UP: At the end she helped us come up with an interesting name for our perfume, made sure we correctly finished paperwork that would allow us to reorder our creations if we wanted in the future and gave us some very welcomed recommendations of a special cake place and other food recommendations. 5/5 all day long. The experience of making the perfume itself was absolutely wonderful. My problem with them comes when ordering a replacement bottle. I ordered a bottle of my daughter's formula as a present for her. The order provided her name and her formula number. I received a package in only 10 days here in the USA. But, they did not send my daughter's formula as I ordered, but sent my own formula. This was one of the coolest things we did in Paris. Sophie, the owner was so sweet. She asked what scents and perfume brands we liked and then we started blending our perfumes. It was so fun and and a nice way to spend an afternoon in Paris after walking for several days. My fiancé got a $95 bottle and I got a $140 bottle. Kind of an expensive souvenir and it took about 2 hours but I think it was worth it. We have our own signature scent! We got to name our perfume and we can reorder online. Dear Sophie, What a wonderful time I had at your studio. Thank you for having us, and I can't wait for your opening in New York **crosses fingers** Review: When asked what was one of my favorite things about France, this was definitely one of the top 10 things to do. While in France, we stayed in a castle on the outskirts. We had activities planned for each day, but only arts and shopping scheduled for Paris. Well after spending quite a bit of money shopping we decided that our project for the next day in Paris will include making our own perfume. We called, (from our hotel front desk) made an appointment, and voila the next day we were on our journey. Her shop was located in an area that we deemed to be very authentic. Not very touristy, and you can tell that a lot of locals frequent the area. We were warmly greeted at her shop and began the process. Because we were a party of four, we had the luxury of having the studio for ourselves during the process. Sophie was very patient and informative. She explained her role as a "nose", taught us about the different notes in a fragrance, and about how each note reveals itself over time. She then asked us what kind of fragrances we liked, and asked a little more about us to get a scent profile. Well let's just say we had a very diverse group. I like clean scents, my mom likes deep florals, my sister likes woody scents, and my cousin likes fruity scents (particularly peach lol). Yet, even with all our differences she sat with each one of us, helped us go through the process of accepting and rejecting the notes from her vast collection of fragrances, and we all left the shop with something that we loved. I was particularly pleased that I did not become ill with the process. I am very sensitive to certain scents, and just knew that being in a studio of perfumes would trigger a migraine. Gladly it did not. We all opted to go with the largest option, and I definitely plan to order more. (Sophie makes a recipe of each scent so that you can easily order a new version when in the U.S.). My one con is that there was a scent that she ran out of that we all loved, but I kid you not her suggested replacement smelled ten times better (I found out how much better when I returned to the U.S.--apparently once it sets it smells a TON better). My takeaway (after this novel) is that it was a great learning experience, I left with awesome product, and when I get complimented on my scent (which happens VERY often) I can flip my hair and say, "ah this scent?? It's a one of a kind scent made by myself and a professional nose in Paris" :D read more

We scheduled an 11 am appointment with Sophie. We arrived early and had coffee at a cafe near by. She was on time and greeted us at the door! The level of service and attentiveness that she provided for my girlfriend was second to none. Sophie was very kind and let me take part in the selection process ( I tried to stay out of it as much as possible). She made my expresso while I waited. The process from start to finish took about two hours and the final product was beyond perfect! At 2:05pm the day of the appointment, we arrive to find a sign on the door which displays a "back at 3" note even though our class was scheduled for 2pm. We then check email to see if a note had been sent giving an alternate time. At 2:03pm, an e-mail was received saying they couldn't confirm our class because it was full. A friend and I wandered into this shop one evening in Paris. We were looking for something to bring home to our mothers as a unique, Christmas present (after I tried and failed to find the now discontinued scent my mother usually wears). That was two years ago, and I'm happy to say the perfume has lasted and smells even better than the day I made it. Just today, my mom walked into the kitchen and I immediately asked what scent she had on (totally forgetting that it was the one I'd made!) She absolutely adored the personal touch of the gift and the fact that it is truly one of a kind. I highly recommend this spot for anyone who's in/going to Paris and looking for a personalized gift. (Be prepared to devote some time to crafting the perfume, though! My friend and I missed our flights back to Dublin! -- our faults, of course). My only complaints are that it's a tad pricey (but worth it, I'd say), and that when my friend and I came up with names for our separate perfume gifts, the woman working at the time (who was very friendly) accidentally mislabeled our bottles. As such, I'm a bit worried to order a refill (a wonderful service they offer!) because I'm unsure if the wrongly assigned labels on the bottle corresponds with their records. My girlfriend and I visited Paris mid February and prior to visiting, she had recommended that we book a workshop at this Perfume studio from positive reviews she had read on Trip Advisor. The concept of being able to create a customized scent seemed intriguing and out of the ordinary in comparison to normal tourist activities, so we decided on the 'En Couple' package, which is a workshop for couples where you make two customized scents in accordance to personal tastes. Since we had only 3 full days in Paris, after booking, I had emailed the Les Parfums team via their website to set a specific time and date. They were willing to accommodate a Monday, 11:00 AM appointment, which fell in line with our busy travel schedule. Sophie I believe is the proprietor and also lead the workshop. We began by describing what our favorite market scents were and then were given a worksheet that had a grid matrix with sections for a base, middle and the top note. We were then given out numerous scents to sample for the base note and advised to write down our favorites onto the worksheet. After, we began to mix the base note with our preferred selections. It was the same for the middle and top notes, and along each step, Sophie would critique our selections as well as provide expert guidance, so as to create balanced notes in the scent and to truly customize the output. My scent was coming out a bit too musky, but Sophie, who's obviously nothing short of a master at this craft, helped me make some corrections that really helped to fix what I was mixing. At the end, I wound up with a great men's cologne that was not too overpowering, but sweet at the same time. My girl's came out very balanced with hints of jasmine and fruit and she loved it. After we were finished, we did some last minute smell checks and Sophie bottled our concoctions into spray bottles with labels for the names that we had come up with for our cologne/perfume. The end product was of very high quality and lasted pretty much the whole day. A much better experience than buying some cologne at Bloomingdales! Your customized scent is saved and I believe you can also re-order anytime directly from Les Parfums! Both my partner and I loved the lesson and it was one of the highlights of our trip to Paris. If you are in town, I highly recommend this little studio as it's truly a unique and fun experience and totally out of the ordinary in comparison to the usual tourist stuff. read more

I found this place because of Yelp and decided I would make my own bespoke perfume to celebrate my 31st birthday in Paris. I've been very intrigued with this notion since reading "The Scent Trail" by Celia Lyttelton and also because i've not yet found my "signature" scent. I popped in without a reservation and was cheerfully greeted by Sophie. She sat me down and had me pick out some scents I liked from a few vials so she could get a direction of what to suggest for all my notes. I didn't really like any of them, but after explaining the kinds of fragrances that I am attracted to, she pulled a bunch of vials out and told me to make a "like" and "don't like" pile. These were to be my bottom notes. I did the same for the middle and top notes. After I had about 15 final picks of single note scents in front of me, Sophie then sat down with me and wrote down the exact amount from each vial I was to place into a beaker. After I added the bottom notes, she smelled and tested and adjusted. She did the same after adding the middle and top notes. After all the oils were blended, we continued to add scents until Sophie said it was perfectly balanced. Then, she asked me to name my scent, which I appropriately called "Thirty-One." The whole process took about 2 hours. I had to step out of the shop between choosing my notes to clear my nose. After I was finished, I could barely decipher between any smells, and I was a little apprehensive that I wouldn't like what I had created--Sophie did call it "interesting" because I had combined a lot of different scents that I liked individually but aren't always presented together. She told me it would cure and change over the next 3 days or so, and it did. Each day it smelled a little different, a little better. And now, I love my signature scent! There are 3 levels of bespoke you can choose from: approximately 97 euro, 137 euro, and one that's more expensive (sorry, I can't remember the exact price). I chose the 137 euro package because it seemed like I would be able to get to really explore my "scent trail." Compared to other bespoke perfumers in Paris, these prices are extremely moderate. I had the time of my life and will never forget this wonderful experience! Maybe I'll be able to make a "Thirty-Two' next year, but if not, Sophie has my recipe on file and I can always order more. Warning: There is another bespoke perfumer with an extremely similar name--at least to someone not well versed in French--Le Studio Du Parfum, who is very happy to take your reservation and money online in advance. So, just be sure you have the correct address when choosing this scent shop. read more

Super fun, amazing experience and such a French thing to do while on vacation. I took a chance and popped in without an appointment (I would recommend setting one up first as its very involved and if Sophie is with a client, you'd have to come back later). She was very sweet and took me anyway and we started with my favorite scents- the base notes. I smelled tons of vials and narrowed it down to four bases, then we moved on to middle notes and then top notes. She explained what each level's significance was and then I got to pour the oils into the beaker measuring them out. At the end, I had a beautiful perfume that keeps getting better each day as it cures. She keeps the formula so I can order more from the states as well as body lotion or shower gel if I choose. Very hard to get in touch with anyone. The order finally arrived December 14th, but it was the wrong fragrance and it wasn't gift wrapped as I ordered. So frustrating. This was a gift. My husband and I went here during our honeymoon trip to Paris. It was a very small, personable shop. The pre-created fragrances are fabulous. But the best experience is creating your own scent. It tooks us a couple of hours to pick out our bass, middle and top notes with the help of the person there. I came out with a lovely fragrance that I named. My wife always wanted to make her own perfume and we happened to be spending a month in Europe this year so I called Sophie and made an appointment. I'm the kinda guy who's idea of perfume is one the comes in a stick with a twist bottom. Sophie quickly convinced me to take part and man am I glad she did! Sophie really took the time to help us understand the process and while we only had an hour plus, it takes on average 18 months to complete the process we went through today. Our experience here has been HORRIBLE! The process of creating the fragrance took 3 hours after we ere told 45 minutes.. Made us miss a previous engagement.. Ordered cream and after 7 months and many phone calls never received so went to shop to pick it up and was lied to again. Mad to threaten getting the police to come to the shop to get refund. After a brief lesson by friendly owner Sophie Soussan, we set about smelling a huge variety of essential oils and narrowing down our choices.
